@Nancy - I've been to St. Joe's island a good many times! Had good friends with a farm there for several decades - they've now moved on. Interesting little place. You must be a hardy soul to swim there - the water is kinda cold isn't it? It sounds like it holds many wonderful memories for you - a good little retreat, even if only in your mind :)
Carolla -- You should try swimming in Lake Superior! That is for hardy souls.

So on-line scrap booking - that's interesting! Does one design the pages, insert the photos etc. as in preparation of those 'photo books'? I'm curious to hear more.

Looks great pinga! and the price seems very reasonable - if you've ever bought all those little stickers & pages for scrapbooking - that adds up VERY quickly!!

Neighbours coming for dinner tonight ... BBQ, but I think we'll be eating inside, given the extreme heat we're having here! Chicken on the rotisserie, Italian sausage, grilled carrots & parsnips, fresh corn on the cob, fresh spinach salad; some chopped up peaches for dessert - all local produce .... and of course a nice wine or two! Added bonus, our son is here too! I've missed him, having been away so much lately, so it will be nice to have him at the table with us too.

Yes, I have. I have a lot of inventory that I am using . I would wander through Michaels and pick up a piece, or when I went on trips, would pick up local items. I do like the idea of the digital and may experiment with some. It's a great way to try layouts, as well.

Dinner sounds great. Looks like possible storm clouds around, not sure if thunderstorms are predicted. We are having bbq porkchops tonight, along with some lovely cauliflower, broccoli and tomatoes (all raw). yum.

** Pinga enters and rings the cowbell.

So, room for all, the table is big, there are lots of places to gather, sit on the porch, down by the dock, or maybe at the big dining room table. The air is moving lovely with a cool breeze from the lake.

Look at all the bounty that we have from this year's crops, from the animals , and from a few years ago (yumm, that 2007 Red from Thirty Bench).
There is some lemonade, and unsweetened ice tea, and of course, lots of fresh fruit and frozen yogurt for dessert.

So, sit yourself down, and help yourself....enjoy.

Good morning, folks. I see that there was frost in sections of Newfoundland last night as well. Lots of humidity in S. ont. with rain expected.

I'm awake early this morning. Woke up suddenly at 6:30am, I'm guessing some outside noise, as I was fine or, something with my sleep. I;m kinda curious what impact the sleep machine will have when I get it.

Lots to smile about in this world. Hoping you find something to smile about today or maybe find a way to make someone else smile.

Announcement - there will be NO dinner parties at pinga's place until further notice! Unless you bring along your TV tables ;) How long til Thanksgiving???

At my house we have 1000 pieces of a jigsaw puzzle spread out on sheets of bristle-board in two rooms. Gradually whitling away. My aim is to find at least 10 pieces a day - ten days 100 pieces - times 10 = 1,000. But some days go a bit faster. The two bright red cardinals were relatively easy once I separated the red pieces from all those black, white and various shades of blue and grey. The dusky yellow kitten and the yellow cardinal (with some red) had to be kept apart - and the black kitten is virtually invisible against the dark background. Why do we start these things!?!

Cool day today - spare ribs going in the oven - baked potato - tossed salad.

Maybe a blueberry dessert.

Paradox is a fascinating thing to intrigue people with puzzles ... like the unresolvable mystery of the human mind ... and outlandish icon of apocalypse ... the evolution of awareness? Fascinating thing for me ... others don't wish to know and thus don't know thyself ... such things are suggested ...

True! Yesterday, I picked son's gf up at the airport - she had flown in from Gander NF - when she left there it was windy, nasty and 10 degrees. She was layered up with a few hoodies to keep warm. Got here and it was over 30 with much higher humidex! She got her suitcase & promptly changed into a tank top before calling me to pick her up :-)

Is there anything better than new potatoes cooked just enough with a dab of butter?

Tonight, there is all the food you love from the harvest on the table. Of course, as always this table is absolutely gluten free, calorie free, suitable for diabetics, etc.

Peach pie, with a beautiful crust and stoney creek dairy vanilla ice cream are for dessert. For those who aren't a fan of peach pie, just hit the magic button, and la voila , the pie will change in front of your eyes.

How about char stubs after the deer ate the tops? Causes char lot's web to confine my irrational side ... sort of like a blind sack ... Dural thingy?

Can the brain see anything without induction ... of flying thoughts in abstract (imaginary) space?
