Sorry to hear about the ER visit it may result in more assistance which would be a good thing. I find it also has the reverse effect on me too. If I dismiss the individuals symptoms as not important I spend the better part of the day/night worrying about them and wondering if it was a legitimate concern.

Thank you Justme. It's an enjoyable job. The hours are short, which wonderfully provide me with both a little income, and a good opportunity to study. I'm thankful that they've agreed to give me every Wednesday off. Not many places would do that.
 
I had my MRI today, and of course, more blood work. I was at hospital for approx 2.5 hrs, in the MRI for between 45min and an hour.
I started passing the time and keeping claustrophobia down by going through the family tree. Then I switched to singing songs in my head, first songs from our choir, then songs from camp days, then, 99 bottles of beer on the wall. It was the best distraction. got to 0 just before pulled out.

That seems like a long time! Mine was a while ago, but I really doubt it was close to that. I do remember having to lie still in the position they had me made my symptoms worse, so if it was even 30 minutes it would have seemed loooooooog!
 
I think that the regional hospital has only recently started referring people to the local hospital's MRI, and so, they said they were refining their protocols. Also, it does appear from sites that an MRI of the abdomen will take longer (typically) than an MRI of a knee.

Was at a funeral for a church member today. Only 58. She was a sweeter person by a 1000 than I with a warm shy smile that could light up a room. Judging by the number of people there, a much beloved woman and very well prayed for as she'd struggled with MS for many years. Sure makes an interventionist god look less likely.

Makes sense. Mine was primarily of my brain, although they also did my spinal cord. I imagine signal:noise ratio is better when there isn't a bunch of soft tissue surrounding the area to be investigated.

The strength of the magnet also makes a huge difference! I couldn't tell you what mine was now though.
 
@Pinga 'm glad you got through it ok - the claustrophobia was killer for me when I've had them.

@ChemGal they haven't decided on a course of action yet. I saw the surgeon today and he is sending me for an MRI but one of the machines is being replaced so they're backed up pretty bad. We thought about travelling to Kingston, Ontario where there is a semi-private clinic that takes provincial insurance - my husband got in within two weeks a few years ago but when he called them today they said that the waiting list could be 8 weeks long. There is a private clinic a few minutes from here on the Quebec side but it's $775 which is a lot of money. It's very frustrating because I can't do anything to help it along. I'm doing ok - had a couple of rough weeks but seem to be back on my feet. I hope you are managing well.

Gorgeous weekend here so we're spending Saturday at the movies :)
 
I'm sorry you have to wait so long, Justme. Come to my neck of the woods! though, i am guessing the backlog is equally as bad.
 
Pinga - I'm imagining you belting out 99 bottles of beer from the MRI machine!

Wait times? We need a government committed to fixing the process, not letting it deteriorate to the point people are willing to see it privatized.
Then only those who can afford it ($700+ for an MRI) or those with insurance will have access to health care. Too bad for the rest of us.
 
Dealing with the family tree without the 100'th bier is enough to halt one in a freeze ... even withal the concentration of electromagnetic forces ... said to cause a lot of brain noise of the white kind ...

Frustrating for a fast player. Sometimes I go and get a snack, let the dog in or out (when we had one), change into my pjs. Usually I just sit and plan my next move - count up my score in my head, consider any alternate moves and count their score - and the pros and cons of playing in that particcular spot - how likely is my partner to have an 's'? Has the 'Q' been played? Where is the 'X'? Then, when my opponent finally plays, I jusst have to consider how his move will affect my plan - did he block an excellent word? or did he open up a better opportunity? I make my play and gain a reputation for playing quickly. Actually I'm just making use of the time my opponent spends pondering.
 
I'm headed to Port Dover for an overnight with a friend and her family at a cottage they have rented for a few weeks. Looking forward to some time spent with laughing children on the beach, and a glass of wine later on the porch as the night wraps around us. May you have time with people who matter to you today.
 
I worked a half day today, worked on my own lawn with some sod and topsoil left over from a jobsite, have a little more of that to do, then I'm going to enjoy multiple rum and cokes.

BTW, we have named the fetus. Phonetically, it is "Tino", but it's actually an acronym, "T.N.O.", short for "The New One". Our daughter was "Phyllis the Fetus". Carter was "Perry the Parasite". We really shouldn't be allowed to name these things.
