The party went quite well. The first guest arrived at 12:30 and the last guest arrived at 5:30pm.
Everyone was gone by 6:30, and we relaxed for a bit.
Most of the house is tied up now.
Dad went home happy after chatting with friends for a long long time. He missed his workmates who showed up, and he likely chatted with them the longest. In part due to who he is, and in part due to his vision, people would come in and he wouldn't talk to them, he would just talk to the same men. They were enjoying it, and so was he...I had him in a smaller room, so that the large room was for other family and friends to visit. It was good to see everyone, and not at a funeral

You know, I don't get it. One of my niece's lives down the road from my Dad, she didn''t come or bring her kids. She was in town. My brother's children are both married with kids and live within 30min drive, neither of them showed up. What is even odder is that my nephew made a point of saying they dont' see us enough. They were invited. It wouldnt take hours, they could pop in for 30min....no response, no pshows.

I dont' get folks

The only thing I understand about the weather is that we will get some!

Interesting that you went to church without your pantyhose Seeler. More interesting, to me, was my reaction to your words. Instantly, my childhood teachings rose up telling me that it was 'unseemly' for a 'lady' to go out in public without covering the legs with stockings or pantyhose. I don't believe or follow this old rule, but it is still inside me somewhere.

Also on the weather front - we have unusually hot weather right now.

I seem to remember going to church as a child with my Sunday-best dress, a little bonnet, and white ankle socks with patent leather shoes.

By the time I was a teenager I had switched to nylons - and later to pantihose.

Sometime as a young mother I discarded the hat.
Then the pantihose - I hate them (so uncomfortable - and hot). As soon as my legs get tanned they are discarded.

And now, sometimes I break all the rules I've carried in my head since childhood and I occasionally wear slacks.

I find with my move to sunny OK I have given up pantyhose. No need for them for warmth.
I used to wear a hat to church only at easter as a child.

Overall in this place I'm finding dressing is more causal then Edmonton. I dress down a lot more at work than previously=-otherwise I stand out too much.
and yes I wear pants to church or capris or long shorts or a sun dress.

My mother still seems to think that. Maybe this should go in generational differences, but I find typically my generation does not see them as dressy. They work with professional clothes. Maybe black pantyhose with something dressier in the winter, although I think tights typically look better. I find they actually tend to dress down an outfit.

Oklahoma?

Another hot day today.
At least it cools down at night, in another few months we won't get that really cool breeze that can cool down a large room or two when you pop open a window for an hour.

Got outside and watered the garden before the heat hit - still I was in a spaghetti strap dress and I wasn't cool in the shade, just comfortable.

Entering a tough two weeks at work. Settled into the hotel. Trying to decide if sleep or email calls me.
I am hoping that the culture of our workplace will not carry with me in my next career, that I will be able to relax a bit, work normal hours (with exceptions).
I wonder, when the hours are late, if the years of working in this environment will be too hard to break. Time is coming when I find that out. The good news is that, should it continue, my worst outcome is that I take full retirement.

Hope that you will have the best week possible Pinga. Sometimes life does a real challenge, that's for sure.

I start work tomorrow. This will be weird. No more posting in the middle of the day.

Wondercaffeine withdrawal, anyone?

No more chansen in the middle of the day? Why even go on living? Hope your job starting tomorrow goes well for you.
