And some of us have never been able to drive. Think on that one folks
Give up driving? Give up??Good morning! A new week dawns. A weekend full of stories of coaching, and driving, and how hard it is to give up driving. For many who live in hamlets or small villages, driving is really convenient, to go into towns for groceries and other services. It's hard to realize that one should no longer drive; but then, driving is a privilege, not a right.
We gather round the Coffee Cart once again for our sessions of chat, support, and connection, over tea and coffee. As well, we enjoy the efforts of the Wonderbaker, who has for today baked bear claws for us to indulge in. The coffee is freshbrewed, the tea water is boiling merrily, and the bear claws are warm, fresh from the oven. All is ready, y'all are invited. Come on in and join the conversation!

Would love to whip up an omelette sans jambonI've got leftover birthday cake -- vanilla with sprinkles baked in, and butter cream icing. There's some neapolitan ice cream as well. Can you tell it was a 6 yr olds birthday?
I've also got some hickory smoked ham left, if folks want to whip up an omelette or have a sandwich for lunch.
Is there whipped cream?Sharing some pumpkin muffins I made yesterday.
Potato pies? Carbs upon carbs. Maybe you can finish them off with a lovely topping of granolaI'll contribute some pie to the Room. I am deep in pie-baking mode as our harvest dinner is tomorrow. Sweet potato pies just out of the oven, the apple slices are macerating for the apple pies, which I will finish putting together and bake after my Tuesday night progressive Christianity group finishes about 9. Big guy is away, which is a bit of a nuisance, as he is much more deft at peeling and slicing apples. I am slow and it hurts my hands.
Oh, Sweet Potato. Sorry, Bette, I misread. I thought you said sweet Potato.Pumpkin and squash pies are simply a sweet starchy vegetable blended with a custard base (eggs and milk/cream). Sweet potatoes are a sweet starchy veg, Simply prep potatoes as you would pumpkin (roasted preferred as you get a degree of caramelization that deepens flavour) and puree and use them as pumpkin. Or google sweet potato pie - it's a southern US thing (has a bit more butter). I used Japanese sweet potatoes, which I like (and more importantly had on hand), but are white fleshed not orange fleshed, so I added a bit of food colouring and a bit of molasses to get a more pumpkin like appearance.
