Good morning! Planning to see a favourite band in an acoustically good but socially restrictive locale can be a 'situation,' but sounds like you're handling it well, enjoy the music. Let us know how it went for you.
We gather round the Coffee Cart again, for chat, support, and connection; as well as to drink tea and coffee, and enjoy the efforts of our Wonderbake. This morning, there are cinnamon buns fresh from the bakery. The tea water is boiling, the coffee is freshbrewed, and the cinnamon buns are warm. Everybody is welcome to join in, all is ready. There's a few who stayed, too, though. Byron here in London has a reputation for being a more conservative, evangelical United church and puts "United" in very small letters a lot of the time as if to de-emphasize that they are UCCan. There's nothing on their site that really spells out their positions, though, so hard to say if they are conservative socially or just theologically. I see their pastor (I am seeing that term more and more in the UCCan) is leaving for a church in St. Jacob's.
 
I always thought there should be a database of United churches by their positions on same sex marriage: Affirming, accepting and non-accepting. That way, people know what they're in for.

I contemplated doing it, but it was going to be quite the task.
 
Yeah, that could be quite a job to do. I can bash out the actual site and db in a few days but collecting all the info? You'd almost need a UCCan insider who has the necessary connections. Welcoming ones would be easy as would ones with obvious non-welcoming language on their sites but there's ones who are "welcoming" but haven't done the work to get the status and ones who are less "welcoming" but don't advertise it. If you knew what to look for, a well-trained AI model with a well-written prompt might be able to help.
 
Imagine a church person that was well connected to everything ... almost a god until things started getting rejected or blasted out ...

Sort of like some Lord attempting siege therapy on the neighbor ... not realizing that all actions have reactions and further consequences down the road as emotional intellect goes off in that vector ...

Then there are those that do not accept that such things exist ... in any type of essence ... then they plug the air space like that breather out in the Green Mile or one of those movies involving a peculiar Exorcism ... after the old lady swallowed a fly ... spider ... bug ... something that laid an egg ...

Thus the story with scratch goes on ... creative?

The United Church would haaate something like that coming out. Which, for a while, was the reason I wanted to compile and publish it.

I also wanted to see what percentage of Cruxifusion members were in each camp. For science.

That would have made some people next-level angry. Which, again, I could live with.

Not saying you meant it that way @Mendalla

The expression always seems to imply that said work should have been done.

No, it just means that they have not, for whatever reason, sought welcoming status even though they basically are welcoming. Bad wording, perhaps.

Oh, I know that's what you meant.
The wording is not even bad.
I have heard the expression used in a judgy way, that's all.
 
I am kind of keeping vigil on another site (my NSFW writing site). Another member has been in hospice for the past few weeks but was still posting a few times a week. Now, he has been incommunicado recently. We are suspecting the worst. He is a Vietnam vet so not young by any means, but not our oldest member either. Apparently, he does have a friend with access to his account who is supposed to let us know when the end comes. His usual avatar is a lion and another regular is a polar bear, so that site's version of Room for All has been staffed by a lion, a bear, and an ape.
 
The daughter comes home today. She had the most amazing day yesterday, filled with cementing new friendships, making even newer friends, watching a favourite style of anime with a small group including two professors and making some impressive observations about the messages contained within, and unfortunately finished the day with some awkward line dancing lead by a confusing instructor who she hates, therefore proving there is no such thing as a perfect day.
 
Having a delightful day snuggling my 2 month old great nephew. Mom &dad andy son went out exploring and the little guy and i are hanging out with my husband. We keep on tripping up saying grandma , grandpa instead of great uncle or even just uncle
 
As a former pastor at a megachurch, I can share from my observation that the lion's share of ministry work usually gets done by volunteers
 
Good morning! The weekend is here. We come to the Coffee Cart once again, to continue discussing a database of UCCan congregations regarding their stance on same-sex marriage, someone on another site in hospice, cuddling an infant great nephew, a daughter's home arrival, and all else that came up, plus whatever comes up today in our table talk time. We do this over coffee and tea, along with the baked goodies provided by the talented Wonderbaker. Today they have provided us with a delectable Kaffeecake to enjoy. The coffee is freshbrewed, the tea water is boiling, and the cake is warm from the oven, smelling wonderful. All is ready, everyone is invited. Come in and join in the conversations!
