I'm thinking today of those folks in BC who are struggling with tragedy in their midst.
I think of those for whom such tragedy brings back memories of tragedy in their circles.

I worry about the lack of information, and fear that it is because of the potential spins from disclosure.

I also notice who Carney said reached out to share condolences and who was not mentioned. I am thankful that he stayed focussed on the loss, and our global support and empathy re the loss.

Thankful that we don't have many of these in our country, but, aware...even one is too many.

I was reading online commentary and someone said it’s better that they take their time and get the facts straight - and media exercising some patience - rather than the media rushing it for clicks and views and risking the spread of misinformation. That’s probably true.
 
Is the dash to be first better than a spot second?

Then with time and history a structure of depth starts to knit together ... like Bones ... core story?
 
Good morning, all! Thursday has come dawned (or will soon). We remember and grieve for the victims and survivors of Tumbler Ridge, something one hopes never happens, but always seems to pop up. May the people there know they are remembered and loved.
We gather round the Coffee Cart for coffee and tea, and also to converse, support, and connect with one another. Along with the coffee and eta, the Wonderbaker has produced assorted cupcakes for our enjoyment. The tea water is boiling, the coffee is freshbrewed, and the cupcakes fresh and warm from the oven. Everything is ready, everybody is welcome. Come join in the conversations!

Is brute power the only answer to the enigma of life given a subtle understanding as hypo? Will high Po stay up there or descend?

There are expressions about that ... and then Eura qua ... and someone found the qui to white washing ... subtle material ... sizing for media ... all in the layout!
 
This will sound nitpicky but I will say it anyways. I think it is hyperbole to declare we are all experiencing grief about the situation in BC.

Politicians like to say the entire nation is grieving. To my way of thinking, this cheapens the actual grief people experience when they lose a loved one, say.

I liked the remarks offered by King Charles.

Sorrow? Yes.
Shock? Yes.
Lamentation? Yes.

As of Feb 9th, Sault Ste. Marie has recorded 135.9" of snow for the season, which is 4 FEET above normal (85.9") thru this date. --- Just read this on-line.

I think it's a different kind of grief....we know it doesn't hurt as much as the families and the town....but I am grieving to a certain extent. Children are my favourite people and this tragedy does sadden me alot.
In some ways I wish many people; children from our beautiful, country would send cards, poems, anything.....like when the firefighters and the policeman, gather clear across the country, out of common respect for a fallen commrade when a tragedy occurs.
 
I think there's a certain amount of grieving for a Canada we believed existed, one where these things don't happen. And relative to our neighbour to the South, events like this happen quite rarely here but they do happen. We went through the same thing with events like Ecole Polytechnique and the Quebec City mosque attack.
 
it causes grief for me regarding the hate that will pour out for trans folks -- some of whom are friends to wondercafe2, and also, in my network, and those who are afraid to show themselves. (of course, also the losses that @Mendalla & @Waterfall have named)

Of course, it is not the same kind of grief as experienced by those close to it, or those for whom it brings flashbacks to previous shootings.

See the CBC story I just linked in Meanwhile In Canada. There was a point where I thought we had made real progress on trans issues and rights. Now it's all falling apart as the right sees it as an issue they can get leverage on now that gay rights are pretty much unassailable. But that's probably best left for a thread of its own.
 
Maybe the root problem is mental health of people and how they’ve been taught by various influences, to deal with their problems.

Whether it’s in Northern BC or in a war zone it’s still people getting shot and killed over collective human problems.

We’re building up our military, supporting war efforts, kids are being killed in other places everyday. They’re also living in a traumatic world everywhere. It’s all horrible.
