If what I'rael 's destroyed ... will there be nothing left but the remnants, or vision of a dream that didn't quite make it?

Take a piece and go with tart law ... it is the rule that you have to slice it one way or the other! Some say it is like chasing the health wagon of RFK that could double as a hearse ... thus heared ... write it as a word from the dark hollows ...

I went to the city today to visit the old lady. Brought some Christmas deco to brighten up the room , some tea and a Boston cream. Thought Boston cream would be soft enough to eat without teeth if cut in small pieces. I was wrong. Need to go back to bring timbits.
We are going to have some snow here on Monday- supposedly all day long. Not sure how much. It’s early.
I am almost done Christmas presents, cutting it down a bit this year, especially for people sho are more of an obligation than a fun gift. Also got myself out of the work Christmas party- the rest of my team is at a different site, so I am just too busy to drive over there. ( the team does not get along, so communicating by email mostly is just the right distance for my sanity). We will be having a nice lunch here with the nice people who stayed….

It's nostalgic listening to the daughter talk about her hell stretch at uni. She has a group presentation on Monday and the group has not coordinated well. Tomorrow is their last chance to gather and practice their presentation - for the first time. She just hopes the other members did their part, though she's not 100% ready, either. That's on top of a lab report and pre-lab right after, with one more lab to run and that report due at the end of the class.

I remember the days well. She'll get through it. She may stumble, but she'll do it. Partly because she, like us, has/had no choice. lol

Good Sunday morning! A new hug emoji, hidden butter tarts, visits to ole friends, finding better snacks to take, Christmas shopping, university nostalgia, and whatever pops up today, meets us at the Coffee Cart. Here we discuss it, offer support, and strengthen community ties, over tea and coffee. Today our wonderful baker has given us gingerbread figures (non-binary figures) to enjoy, to remind us the season is coming. The tea water is ready, coffee is finished brewing, and the gingerbread is warm from the bakery. All is ready and everybody is welcome! Come in and share your thoughts, and hear the thoughts of others!

Toooo sooooooon. Not ready for Christmas.
One week from today is the first Sunday of Advent. I usually decorate soon after that date and pack it all away on Boxing Day.

We do minimal gift exchanging so there is much less preparation than there was back in the day.

Haven't worked out when and where our family gathering will take place. If it's at our house there will be more prep than if it's elsewhere. But I'm not the family baker.

All in all I don't have a lot to get ready. Except the mental preparation & waiting that Advent calls us to do.

Why do we rush to get into it and then dash off after? Is it because of de light passed?

Oo, thanks for mentioning that. Must make a note to get the WC2 Christmas banner up soon after that.

I know there's been some new Christmas music showing up on YouTube and Spotify this month. And my neighbours have decorations up and lit. But, yeah, I would be happy if people waited until the start of Advent or the first of December or something. One month of Christmas is really enough.

I’m opposite. I’m happy to see some lights go up around here, even as the leaves are still coming down. It’s nice when they stay up all winter, too, to cheer things up. We don’t get much snow all winter so it looks kind of dreary otherwise. I’ve noticed Christmas music in some shops and the decorations were in before Halloween was out. The heavy consumer side of things is too much too soon, as it has been for a while.

I just like the lights to brighten things up. I didn’t really do much last Christmas - one family dinner was all I did. One dinner Christmas Eve, and then a gathering with friends on Boxing Day. It has been a quiet couple of Christmases. There were colds and illness going around, too, so that put a crimp in it. The before I think I went for coffee with a friend and that was it. Lots of people don’t celebrate it much, where I was. It’s alright. Some years are bahumbug. Some turn out to be nice.

And of course, they are gathering virtually on Discord. I can't get used to things like that.

Ah, kids these days. In my day, team projects meant actually meeting somewhere to actually do work. None of this newfangled Discord/Teams/Zoom/whatever crap. (end cranky old man rant)

But the phrase "the group has not coordinated well" resonates. Little M had similar experiences in engineering.

Christmas has really changed over the years for us. . It was great fun when we had four little kids who appreciated the magic. . When grandkids came over to our house for a meal and more gifts it was fun too. .

Since COVUD the magic and family vibes have drastically changed. Adult kids do the big meal with their own kids..

For several years now we have spent the day as an old couple. The adult kids decided No Gifts, which sucked much of the joy out. .
We will put out a few cherished decorations, make a nice meal and try to be cheerful. The Alberta branch of the family will probably phone so we will get to hear some excitement from the Great grands which is always a pleasure.
