Do you fit the requirements for voting in an Ontario election?

To be eligible to register for an Ontario provincial election, you must be:
  • 18 years of age or older;
  • a Canadian citizen; and
  • a resident of Ontario.

This is different from a federal election where you must:
  • be a Canadian citizen
  • be at least 18 years old on election day,
  • prove your identity and address

Thinking of Crazy Heart these days. I'm doing the Canadian Quilters True Colours sewalong. It is free with 12 blocks, a new one coming out every Wed. It is is to raise awareness of 2SLGBTQA both in the canadian quilting world and in the broader community. A contest was held to design the blocks. The colours of the new pride flag are used.
Well ......Block 4 is called Crazy Heart. It is a paper pieced block. She would have loved it.

and a quick reminder for those in Ontario, today is Election Day. If you can, please vote!
Done.

I mistakenly took the Sharpie from my voting booth as I walked to deposit my ballot. As I realized it, I exclaimed, "I am stealing this Sharpie to circumvent democracy! This is my personal January 6th!"

I'm in a very Conservative riding. One guy laughed uncontrollably. The rest....did not.

Hah, someone setting it up didn't read the instructions.
You have been given 3 sharpies. Place 1 in the booth, so that when the one is taken by Chansen, that you can replace it.
They figured they would save time & energy by placing all 3 there.

My husband gave me a spotting scope for Christmas. (Bushnell Sentry 18-36 x 50mm spotting scope), along with a tripod.
I'm looking forward to sitting on the deck identifying birds.

The merlin app on my phone often will tell me that a bird is present, and give a clue based on description on where i might see it.
my hands with their tremor and my vision issues have meant a lot of frustration with our binoculars, so this new scope is amazing.
What a great gift. My guy did some research and bought me a good monocular. It works well for me as I can adjust it to suit my better eye. Binoculars were a pain and ineffective.

The Liberals put 1 in each booth. Then the NDP figure some needy people need Sharpies and they put 3 more in each booth. Then Conservatives visit the booth and want to make sure the poor don't get any extra Sharpies so they take 2 and leave one extra just in case. The New Blue party comes by and complains about government waste and takes a Sharpie while nobody is looking. The Green party drops by and is happy there is only one Sharpie in each booth but complains it should be biodegradable.

So that's why I only had 1 Sharpie.

Dog and I had a nice walk by the waterfront today. She decided to be in this photo. :)

OMG, civilized weather. Not nearly there yet, but a couple of days of warmer temps have shrunk the snowbanks a foot or so. Still dangerous entering intersections without a 4-way stop.

Good morning! The Ontario election is done. Tales of Sharpies in the booths, bird watching with a new monocular, walks on the beach, the mounds of snow decreasing, and other things that came up yesterday, and will come up today, all comes with us as we gather round the Coffee Cart, where the conversation is nonstop, the coffee is always fresh brewed, tea water always at the boil, and scones warm and fresh from the oven. All is ready, all are welcome. Come on by for a mug or cup, and share in the conversations!
