I am a huge fan of eggnog, particularly with spiced rum (I particularly like Kraken) and freshly grated nutmeg.

However, I am now violently allergic to cow's milk, every alt-milk nog is awful (because it's too thin, so the mouth feel is just wrong), I currently have no nutmeg grater nor nutmeg. However, we have the correct rum, and if you put in a bigger portion than usual, you soon don't care.

Snowblower wouldn't start today, my sister is going to have to teach me how to make friends with this friggin' fussy monster. And it was the big guy trying to start it, not me.

You know, we don't really do the eggnog thing. Never tried it. Don't generally like eggs to begin with, so never felt compelled. I like egg in egg noodles and french toast. That's about it.

My wife and I treated ourselves to a pasta maker for Christmas. We opened it early and had a go last night. Eggs with semola flour worked great. Takes a bit of time and cleanup, but not terrible. And the pasta works out less expensive than the nicer dried pasta. Will take a while to make back the cost of the unit, but it's another little thing we do that's neat.

I drink Kraken as well. My dad hates it.

Not shockingly to many of you, I have a Kraken rum story. It's part of a story I told here before, about teaching my daughter to break rules, taking her skiing one day at a different club, and driving on a valley road with no winter maintenance to show her that some risks are fine.

We nearly got stuck that day. The road was steeper than I remembered, there was more snow in the trees than I anticipated, and the road was one lane - no way to pass another vehicle.

I was in a 4Runner with new snow tires. Blizzak DM-V2, to be precise. I mention them because they saved my butt that day. I kept my momentum up and we made it out of the valley. My daughter was rightly furious with me.

The Kraken part comes when we get to the destination club. It's a Friday and there is some corporate ski day going on that we aren't a part of. There are two or three booths with free alcohol samples. One of them is Kraken rum. They are giving out little samples of rum and coke and rum gummy bears, but in the shape of a kraken. The ladies handing out the samples are what you might expect at this sort of corporate event - insanely attractive. At lunch I went up and asked for a sample and was chatting with them. I made them laugh, maybe because they genuinely think I'm funny, or maybe because they thought I could be a CEO...who knows. But I liked the rum.

Well my sister has bank drafts and is taking mine to my bank near her to deposit mine. The saga is over. She found they were unable to wire the transfers because funds are still frozen from wires. Apparently bank drafts are okay though. Geez. At least it seems to be sorted out.

Nice Xmas Eve service tonight. Turkey is roasted and separated into white dark and stuffings in fridge. Tomorrow just need to make pie, veggies and salad.

Merry Xmas everyone!
Sounds delicious, Bette. I really must start now to make my traditional Christmas Air Fryer Rotini

Sadly, it was a bank draft that was held at our bank. Hoping the saga doesn't continue

The bank draft makes sense. It's common practice. The money is in my account and will be accessible soon. The delays the other bank caused were because people couldn't read the documents that explained what they wanted.

We went to church tonight. One of our friends from up north was there with his two boys. His wife and twins stayed home because the twins were done (they're 2.5 yo) after a couple travel days.

It was a nice service. Now we're home with our feet up.

Good morning! Marry Christmas! :santa: Dealings with banks, Christmas Eve services, roasted turkeys, and all the other topics that arise, they come with us to the Coffee Cart. Here we chat, support, drink coffee/tea/hot chocolate, and relax for a bit in the comfy chairs and fluffy cushions. Cinnamon buns are fresh from the oven, fruitcake with or without marzipan is available, and eggnog will be available through New Year's Day. All is ready, all are welcome. Come join in the festivities!

Cinnamon buns on Christmas morning! What could be better?

Mr Paradox and I attended the Christmas Eve service at my church. It was a lovely service and it was so nice to have him with me.

Merry Christmas, all.

Our service was yesterday afternoon…very nice. Merry Christmas everyone. Santa visited here…for the 3 and 1 year olds. I wasn’t sure he’d find our house but he did. Big get together last night here…food and laughs galore. Thankful for the blessings of family.

Hey @Nancy
A Christmas Eve service in the afternoon sounds like a great idea to me! My congregation had it late in the evening several years ago but it has gradually been moving forward. Yesterday it was at 7:00 pm

There's an argument for having at after the work day, I realize. But retired folks are a large percentage in most congregations and children are always out of school that day. Even many people with jobs are free by noon on Christmas Eve. Not all of them of course

Merry Christmas. Happy Hanukkah. Seasons Greetings. Whatever. :)

We have rainfall and wind warnings today. We're going out for dinner to a fancy restaurant. Hopefully the power will stay on today.

K
