Yeah, the lady next door puts out food for the rabbits but I am pretty sure they aren't the only ones eating it. I have a photo on my phone that I should post of a grey squirrel in one of my trees eating an apple. That's hardly normal squirrel fare so I am guessing it came from her.
 
I'm not exactly sure how, but my folks have zero problems with the wildlife they feed. We built the place with mostly brick and a steel roof and there is no crevasse for them to enter or destroy. There is wood siding on the second floor but that seems to be in good shape. They just love their animals and go through 50+ 50lb bags of corn and sunflower seeds every winter. It's fun carrying that stuff to the shed. I don't resent the animals at all.
 
We have a ton of black squirrels, and very fat, so I feel no need to feed them via "bird" feeders. I too, leave all seed heads. However, I love the antics of squirrels, and so I keep a bag of peanuts in the house, and randomly, like not every day, maybe twice a week on different days, I throw out a handful of peanuts for them. My cardinals are loyal visitors all year round because of my grape vines.
 
The only damage the squirrels do is that they live in my shed, which you now can't keep anything chewable in, and which smells a bit squirrel-y.

The only snow we've had so far is a skiff yesterday. But it is finally cold...feeling like winter. I'll give the fruitcake a pass @Redbaron ...but thanks, anyway!
 
God what a wicked Sunday given the matters raised between the lines of alpha and the other ... Deus MAC Hynah ... some say Hannah! Evolved to Aryanna ... that has a delightful old meaning ... 2 a dem rubes domed as a pyre pit ... will these burn down? Bottom line ... a Griffon?

Different circumstances here. Lots of snow but it has stopped falling finally. I'm thinking that I might cancel a medical appointment for tomorrow morning in the city. The car is snowed in and the streets likely won't be cleared very rapidly. Our town only has one plough so clearing takes a while. The highways will probably be ok though. Decisions, decisions.

One easy decision is - I'll accept your unwanted fruit cake!
 
Fruitcake would go nicely with an English Breakfast tea, I think.

Went for a walk yesterday and my legs hated me for some reason. I mean, it was the first one in probably a week or more due to weather and early darkness but still, it's not like I've gone months without one. Still did my usual time, at least. And got in a good podcast.
