Not here. I've got a visor on to work because the sun shines right in my home office window now that is lower in the sky and there's no leaves left to obstruct it. I could almost handle a bit of cloud. OTOH, I'll sneak out for a walk in a bit. Quiet day workwise anyhow.

Keep it up, @Northwind
Another gorgeous morning

Today is the 15th anniversary of my dad's dad's passing. Woke before the concept existed. More Christian than a lot of Christians I know. Even tho he was a poor dirt famer, when he could he built a bunkhouse on his farm where people who needed it could live.

Had 8 wonderful kids and a wonderful wife

I remember when we rescued a Kingfisher that was frozen, he took over trying to gentle it by pointing at it and going no! Whereupon it bit his finger and didn't let go. All the way until we let it go at a special place I can't remember

He always looked good in those hats with the teeny feathers and would blast politicians except the NDP, back in the days when they were for Worker's Rights and Unions

Fisherman, explorer (on one of his travels seeing some glittering scree he picked up a giant quartz crystal and I would say a pound of galena which I still have), comedian, sayer of off colour jokes of ALL nationalities, esp his own (ukranian polack)...

Growing up with that family was like me being among laughing and kind Deities who took me years to understand

It is in the shelter of each other

Thanks for the reminiscences. Sounds like an interesting guy.

I recently clued in that my parents died 20 years and a few months apart. So next year marks the 30th anniversary of Mom's passing and 10th of Dad's. Still have some estate stuff from Dad in my files that can probably be shredded now.

I love your dad's bunkhouse idea @Delightful Life. Sounds like a good guy for sure. I got flowers yesterday and the florist called to give me a heads up about them coming (to make sure I was home). It gave me time to guess several possibilities and several reasons. My husband said ..."Don't look at me" so that eliminated one possibility! Then, because I had whined and complained so much about the hospital procedure (colonography) and the preceding prep I had to do for it, I thought my kids felt sorry for me and sent flowers. Then I thought it might be the church as a Christmas thank you for being the volunteer secretary. It was fun to do some guessing, and more fun to learn that I was wrong on all accounts. It was from the friend who I helped after her hip replacement surgery. Beautiful flowers; thoughtful gesture; and fun between the phone call and delivery.

I just had a nice day today. My big guy seems pretty determined that Xmas will be a pleasant thing for us, without pushing it. Today, after a nice curry we co-made, we put some lights up in the front window - a tree shape, with some interior loops, and a lit-up wreath above. Pathetic, but clearly an effort, LOL We had a lot of fun.

every moment doesn't have to be fraught with meaning

Funniest Xmas decorating ever. Late 80s, small babies, my favorite cuz comes to visit, stays with my parents, but comes to my place to help me decorate. Now I did then, and do now, have 'choices'. You don't have to use it all. Or do you? My Goddes, it looked like a Vegas whorehouse when he was finished; had used every strand/yard of garland on EVERYTHING.

I worked on preparing Rouladen dinner for tonight. The butcher has cut me large pieces of round that I had to cut in 4s, then still needed to pound them flatter. 9 lbs of meat made 18 Rouladen ( my friends like them so much that they do want two, even if they can only eat one and take the second home). Afterwards I noticed the pounding has put little blood/ meat flecks all over the counter and walls- so I had to scrub that down….
Today, they are going into the crock pot . Dessert will be baked apples with vanilla sauce.

Good morning! For memories and lessons learned from those who passed on years ago, for dogs celebrating birthdays with a campfire, for fun Christmas decorations, for Rouladen dinners, and for all that comes to mind, we gather in spirit round the Coffee Cart for conversation and community, and for hot drinks and baked goodies. All is ready, come on in!

Is a good pounding like be gnoshed over in life? Let us mull on that again ... a Mulligan? What it the great out-of-here cannot swallow lumps? An abstract?

Life does incarnate with bumps and grinds ... gritty? What does this mean ... maybe a method ist his madness ...

Hubby suggested a trip to the store to check out air fryers. We were greeted by a couple of shelves loaded with them - various styles, various brands, various prices. How does one choose? We've never used one, don't know what we want. Should we get one with shelves or a drawer, single or double drawer, a rotisserie, dehydrator ability?? We left the store empty handed and confused.

I make mac and cheese in the InstantPot. Yum.

We just got home from another campfire with friends. It was lovely. Now I'm in my comfy chair with my knitting project.
