@Mendalla It's kind of cool to have friends or teachers of our kids become part of our lives in different ways. My son's safety boat on his pumpkin run was owned and operated by a school chum; another of his friends owns a business which snow ploughs our driveway; my other son's friend is our pharmacist; and there are probably more if I did some serious thinking.
'
Local activities for me always include people I know well. Small town life is like that! The neighbour teaches my kid, a doctor lives down the road and walks his dog with my partner, etc..

Yeah, I think it's a bit more of a surprise in a big city like London is becoming (over 400,000 people now). I mean, we knew this guy and his sister went to med school but still, actually seeing him in a hospital wearing scrubs was a bit of an eye-opener. I don't think we realized that he had started his residency. His parents actually moved away and kept the house for the kids to live in so we haven't talked to them in eons, either. I suspect they'll be selling soon. Apparently both kids have moved out and the son just pops by now and then to do property maintenance.

Well, I went to the vigil...left before it was over. It was not a prayer vigil but a candlelight vigil, and the rain doused the candles. It was a lot of dignitaries talking, and many telling us...the little people...what we need to do to prevent such horrors from happening. (Be kind, listen, seek help or direct others to help) I wanted to sing 'Amazing Grace' or something...just to feel like I was a participant rather than an audience. I found the drumming and jingle dancing at the beginning the most thoughtful, healing part. All the talking? Not so much. Although I did find a couple of the speakers to be impactful. Driving home, I decided that there is a real schism between dignitaries and the rest of us. We were wet and cold, standing in wind and rain with lights that wouldn't light. The dignitaries were under shelter, and talking out their feelings while we could only listen. Many said the same thing as the previous speaker; they all needed a good editor. People started leaving, and some heckled some of the politicians. Yet, nary a change was made in the way they presented. No response to us. Maybe even no kindness to us. Do I sound a little frustrated? I left when they started rolling out what must have been the 10th health care worker to say how sorry they were for the families and how we could all pull together to prevent such tragedy. Here we were as a group and....no real togetherness. And I think we all wanted to feel connected. The leaders have their hearts in the right place, but maybe not the skill set.

Sorry to hear it was like that Nancy. I'm thinking you've nailed it with your description - and the image of the weather as a player in emphasizing the schism is moving, to me at least. Seems like more platitudes, no real action re such violence.

Good Saturday morning! We think of those with paperwork backlogs to get caught up on, for community prayer services that could have been better, hernias that have been repaired, meetings with others we've known, in other parts and times of our lives, and for all the other stuff that goes on. The Coffee Cart is ready to provide space for the conversations, as well as virtual hot drinks of all kinds. Come on in and join the conversations!

Remember in polity as in all poles there are extremes ... the very essence of politics that allows no means as beyond comprehension where folk can go to gather what's displaced and eclectic ... scattered thought and whatever that is when it comes together!

The great command from real gods: "You are either for or against us!" All other is the wastland in the medium ... when ignored it rises ... how? That too is a mystery like gods and what such ide-als represent to the small things ... weren't idols cast off ...

Good morning. We enjoyed a great dinner at a local Mexican restaurant with my sister and her husband yesterday. I don't know why it's been so long since we were there......

Today we're heading north to help friends move their fifth wheel to their site. It will include a good visit. Weather looks good.

Good morning! Reformation Sunday, for those who observe it. As we see October slowly transform into November, and watch autumn move on into winter, let us gather in spirit round the Coffee Cart, where the warmth never fades. All is ready, c'mon in.

Good morning Red.
NS weather has go e from 23 degrees yesterday to 6-9 today. Still sunny.
My Korean neighbours had trouble getting into their house yesterday, the door latch didn’t retract enough to open. And they hadn’t been given a key from their landlord for the second door.
After trying with oiling I remembered that my other neighbour had her handy boyfriend for a visit. Together we tried to get to move the bolt back on the second door. Then tried the windows- and , alas, the kids hadn’t locked the window. Neighbour manipulated the lock once inside to work at least temporarily. Now waiting for them to hear from the landlord- but she said the landlord didn’t want to fix other things, so she is not hopeful he will pay for a new lock. The neighbour‘s boyfriend offered to grind off some more on the latch in that case and also might have an extra bolt so they could have a key for the second door. Concerted neighbourly efforts. Korean neighbours were happy to have help. They are paying $2100 monthly for that place without any service ( which might be the rule in Ontario, but this place had been rented for $1100 before Covid).

Wooden that B windfall profit?

That's crazy. Rents have gone up so much since covid. Some more than others.

We helped our friends get their fifth wheel set up yesterday and had a nice visit. They took us out to dinner to say thanks. We've been to that restaurant before. It's very nice and right by the water.

Supernatural is not allowed by the determinates ... it is too much like Magi in a parallel universe that the physical type can't get into as it is dark and mysterious ... NB: "don't make it darker!" The powers have already blackened thing beyond what can be seen ... thus the blind-siding ... mostly in compartmentalized institutions ... all boxed up ... c'est boites! Wood semen, vast poll in nations ... generally stunned by plan!

Hood Un ite ... more added to what we don't know! Yet folks argue the point ..

Looks lovely Northwind. But has anyone noticed that along with hugely increased rental costs (I could get twice what I get from my boarder, but I'm not greedy), prices at restaurants have soared? Even a relatively modest dinner (the Japanese noodle place) will cost us $50 for two. Gets crazy if you add some booze.

Nice day, sorta quiet for a change. Often the big guy and I go for a drive or something on Sundays, but he seemed a bit subdued, and I've work to do here, always and eternally, so I popped home and wasted time on the computer instead of working, although I've probably handled 100 pieces of paper since I got here, deciding between shredding, recycling, garbage and keep (the latter being some unused manila envelopes and a 1946 issue of The New Yorker, which might be fun). I still have to walk dog, and I've got to be back at his house for 4 to make my part of the supper, so I had better cease and desist from reading and commenting for the moment, anyway.

I agree about restaurant prices. This one last night was quite reasonable. I thought it would be more expensive.

We are watching the strangest weather today. Everyone has heard of April showers - but we have October flurries. A few minutes of bright sunshine followed by a heavy dump of snow. We haven't seen anything like it before.

We just came in from a campfire with friends. It's colder than usual so now it's time to thaw toes a bit. It's gone down below zero the last few nights. It's crisp and cold with big blue skies
