What is the tax incentive for travel?
In Ontario there is apparently a 'stay-cation' tax credit - ie if Ontario residents paid for vacation accomodation within Ontario last year, there is some sort of benefit when doing income taxes this year - haven't started that yet, so I don't know the details, but we did keep our receipt from cottage rental last June.

Are there icons and indications as signs that if you go into politics ... you may be crazy?

Expect rare exceptions as exception dodges ...

After posting my travel wishes, a friend just invited me to travel to Portugal! I had to say no though because it is during a time when I will be the main provider of extra care for my Mom, plus my husband still relies on me at all of his appointments. I still think any travel I do will be for a short period of time, and not too far away. One dream I've always had was to do the Circle tour around Lake Superior. I think I may have mentioned that before....or many times....and will probably again, until it actually happens!

That's exciting to be invited Nancy - even if you can't take up the offer at the moment, which is understandable. I've heard many good things about visiting Portugal. The Lake Superior tour sound excellent too. I think that was the first trip my family did with our tent trailer oh so many decades (like even more than half a century    ) ago. Spectacular scenery.

I'm making a rhubarb orange crumble to enjoy with friends this evening. New recipe - fingers crossed!! The rhubarb was frozen ... and harvested perhaps a bit late season, but I think it's tasting fine - will top & bake it in a while so it's warm to eat with some yummy icecream & a bit of syrup made from the juice of the filling. Going to play Skip-bo tonight - anybody else play this card game?

Yes - that recent situation in Mexico subsequent to arrest of cartel boss was surely alarming. Makes Mexico (and some other countries) a less appealing destination.
I always thought that people are naive when traveling outside Canada. On the one side, to expect the same healthcare as they would get in Canada especially when in developing countries, secondly, to expect that one would be easily flown back to get into Canada if falling sick somewhere else ( there was a recent case of a woman with flesh eating disease in Mexico- but no hospital bed available in Edmonton)- and thirdly, in Countries where death penalty applies to people who sin against Allah, how could one not assume that anything could happen to oneself when visiting this country?

Sort of like the American truckers who joined the Convoy thing last February, got arrested, then complained they hadn't been read their Miranda rights. Oopsie....

Carolla's rhubarb orange crumble sounds delicious. Mentioned it to B snd she said we should make a rhubarb crumble. Cut up rhubarb takes up at least a quarter of our freezer space. I am also thinking rhubarb muffins with a crumble topping.

I make rhubarb muffins, rhubarb crisp, occasionally rhubarb pie. As a Brit I also enjoy stewed rhubarb with Bird's custard!

yep....love anything rhubarb. And I think I have that same recipe Carolla. I cook rhubarb in season, but I never freeze it. I tend to use up most of our patch during the spring/summer.

Good morning! Happy Sunday! Travel hopes, gatherings postponed by health issues, and rhubarb, as well as other topics, it gets chatted about, over hot beverages. The Coffee Cart is up and running, come on it, have a cup or mug, join the conversation. All is ready.

Imagine ... living in a world that makes no sense ... and we are not sentient about this thing due to dodging the object!

One could say it is a myth about folk that do not know what they are not aware of ... and this is a great ideal in some circumstances where some power wishes to control your life without culpability!

Can one repond to such things given all we do not know? May result in an urge to gather scattered intelligence ... often too late to be of any utility ... thus sinking sensationalism! It all goes down in a nuts hell ... helliotrope ... who planted this?

Our two rhubarb plants are very productive. I split one of the plants last fall as I wanted to move it to another location to make a space for a rose. This year we should have a large rhubarb plant and four smaller ones with space for them to grow.

We usually make freezer rhubarb jam as well.

The crumble recipe I used is from a lovely little British book - Cobblers & Crumbles. With the frozen rhubarb (1.5lbs! for 4 servings), I first drained it once thawed; then simmered briefly with orange zest, brown sugar, ground ginger. That then gets drained - but those juices were kept to make a topping syrup by adding a bit more sugar and reducing it over med/low heat. The orange segments (minus membrane if you can manage it) added & then all of it put into a shallow ovenproof bowl. The topping is made from flour, ground almonds, butter, a bit more sugar of course, and lots of chopped almonds. ,It seemed dry to me, but cooked up well & when served was great with a scoop of icecream & a dash of the syrup. Yummy.
