We're on the tail end of our snow for now. We got a bit more overnight. Freezing rain is next on the menu. :( I wouldn't want to be driving from KW to Mount Forest in that snow. Stay warm Ontario folks.

We are ready for Christmas. Mr Northwind went and got the few extra groceries we needed yesterday so we have nothing pressing on the schedule.

We (suprise!) have extreme cold. We will not be venturing out having barely enough energy to get from bed to chair and back. It was inevitable I guess that the crud would catch us sometime. The timing could be better but we weren't consulted.

I'm just seeing a report of a 100 vehicle crash/incident on the 401 near London. Looks like it's a good day to stay off the roads today.

Warming up here, tomorrow we're supposed to be hit with a storm. Hopefully no one will feel the need to go out anywhere once my parents arrive later today.

Yeah, I think the 401 is multiple crashes. One of my team who lives West of London and is working from home says there's a 50 car pileup on 402 out his way.

I did see a report that 402 was closed from Sarnia to London, and 401 was closed from (if I recall correctly) Chatham to London,, and in other spots along the way.

In googling the London accidents, I did run across 1 headline that mad it sound like London was one 100-vehicle accident, but it was actually a number of incidents.

This is a helpful map of Ontario road conditions - usually in real time. There are many sections of Ontario highways that routinely close in high winds due to white out conditions. Occasionally the OPP will close the 401 through Toronto so that roads stay clear of traffic & accidents & abandoned vehicles so that plows can get through & open things up once the storm passes. Otherwise it takes eons to get things moving again.

It's a bit warmer here now, close to zero. Icicles are falling off. They are startling us and the dog. We're getting used to the sound.

These photos are from the other day. The icicles have to go somewhere...

So far, nestled here in the spot between Lake Superior and Lake Huron, we haven't been hit hard at all...Just a typical snowy day, with a little wind. I almost hate to stay this in case it changes drastically tonight!

I saw a map of Canada today. Your area and parts of Manitoba were about the only parts of Canada not under a weather warning.

Sometimes we get hit hard....lake effect snow. But the weather patterns seem to be changing, and we've missed a couple of big storms so far this year. On the other hand, we now get tornadoes occasionally...something we never got before.

It's a little scary even factoring in the unpredictable lake effect storms

Definitely a frightful wind howling out there tonight. I fear for some of my acquaintances who are unhoused and live in tents. I cannot even imagine it.
