The Saskatchewan story is hitting the international news. I've seen tweets from CNN and the Beeb. Now wondering if people all over the world are wrestling with how to spell Saskatchewan and where the hell is it anyway.

No exciting family secrets here, at least that I know about. My love life was pretty humdrum up (okay, non-existent) until Mrs. M. I know her past pretty well so not likely to be blindsided there. I suppose there could be mysterious half-siblings or lost cousins or something that I don't know about but if so ... *shrugs*. If I don't know about them, they don't exist. Once again, I come up boring. Maybe that's why I write. My own life is so dull, I need to make up exciting ones.

I deleted a profile on a writing site last year during a fit of something between frustration and depression. I've regretted it ever since. A few of those stories were damn good and with some cleanup (my writing there was mostly NSFW), I could reuse them. Now debating rewriting a "clean" version of the best (or at least my favorite) of them but not sure I can pull it off as well.

Many years ago my sister tookher kids to the big Records Office in London. They researched their birthdates, and their parents' and grandparents'. Then they moved on to finding wedding dates and discovered that there was no record of their paternal grands getting married.

Many years later the grandmother died and my sister was helping to sort out 'stuff' in the house. In a drawer were numerous letters and photos of a person no one in the family knew anything about. Apparently Grandmother had a child that she didn't raise but kept in contact with for thirty or more years.

My wife's mother got a phone call 32 years ago from a friend saying there was an ad in the community paper where she was born that she should see. Her father left when she and her sister were young and had no contact with her mother. The ad was by her half sister in Alaska. Her father had moved from Alberta to Montana, remarried, had three children, left them and moved to Florida where he married again but had no more children. The family in Montana knew about the family in Alberta. The ad was a few months after her mother had died at age 85. The half sister and her husband were in the process of moving back to Montana and there were several trips to Great Falls, Montana.

The German Tagesspiegel explains that Saskatchewan is twice the size of Germany but has only 1.2 mio residents. All three provinces are five times the size of Germany.
Canada is big enough to get away with murder- but I think that people who are so deranged to do something like that will not quietly find a job in another Province and live a normal life.

Good morning! Wow, lots of family secrets leaking out of the trunk...and the Saskatchewan dragnet for the stabbers. Looks like an interesting day. Those of us in Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba, stay safe.
The coffee cart is up and running, c'mon in and join the conversation.

I've responded with too many sad faces today: too many sad things happening in the world. The Barrie accident is so tragic, and...imho...unnecessary. I am thinking that better barriers could have been put up at a place that was to be under construction for so long. My son's friend's friend works for the Ministry of Labour there. Mmmm....There will be blame once the immediate grief settles down.

Good morning. I didn't stop in here yesterday and missed a lot.

@KayTheCurler I thought of you when I heard about Saskatchewan. Our friend from Victoire was here and told us he got alerts. We learned more as the day progressed. What a tragedy all around.

@BetteTheRed I thought of you when I heard about that crash. Another tragedy. It's always awful when a group of young people die in a crash, especially one so senseless.

The adoption stories are great. I've heard many over the years. My cousin is three years older than I am. The woman who raised her was actually her bio aunt. The man she knew as her uncle (mother's brother) was actually her father. She didn't learn that until both mother and bio dad were dead and she was in her 40s. She did get to know her bio mom. Turns out she was the dad's housekeeper and was Catholic. Did I mention my family at that level is Irish Protestant? Ironically, my cousin married a divorced, Italian man. :)

My best friend growing up learned she had an older half brother. Turns out her Irish protestant mother had a baby a year and a half before she was born. He was raised in England to non-religious parents. He's now a Catholic priest in Canada. If anyone needed a priest in the family it was my friend's mom. God has a sense of humour.

I'm not impressed by the laxk of updates. The initial pucture of Myles was a different Myles, that got updated quickly.
There are different pictures of Damien being posted around social media. The claim is the ines shared by RCMP/media are old. To the point where he looks like a different person. Would be nice if RCMP would confirm/deny. I shared the pictures with a comment about not being able to confirm if it's correct. As long as no vigilante justice is done keeping both images in mind of potentially the same person isn't likely to cause harm.
No updates today on RCMP sites, national RCMP Twitter didn't even retweet anything about this. An individual's account (RCMP or Regina police, would need to double check that) did post an update, media mentioned it too.
No new numbers on deaths/injured. Sounds like it's more than 15, some people were throwing around 45 attacked yesterday but no verification on that. The 15 was confirmed by RCMP that it was the number of people transported to hospital using public services and it's likely some found their own way there plus some may not have gone to hospital at all.

Wrote the above this morning it didn't post.
It was the police chief of Regina.
Got another emergency alert, still no new pictures (no pictures at all specific to this one) even though updated pictures of both of them are shared online, Myles doesn't look vastly but there is a change, face a bit fuller and more facial hair.
Not really sure of the purpose of the alert today as there wasn't any new info. But it wasn't sent in the middle of the night at least.

Sounds very sad. Myles' younger brother has been found dead, not suicide. The James Bay Cree Nation have asked for privacy. Seems like there will be a very troubled community/family and a lot of grieving to process.

You almost hope the parents aren't around anymore. Can you imagine grieving one child knowing another of your children was responsible for it? Heartbreaking.

There is nothing so far to disprove the thought that there were three or more people involved. Whatever happened, how and by whom is almost unimportant to me beside the level of loss and grief caused. Included in my sorrow is the knowledge of the vast number of indigenous people damaged via residential schools, government policies, underfunding of health and education etc.. We need to offer communities the help they want and need to avoid raising more damaged, hopeless children.

We saw a news piece that said they are anticipating that the living brother may be similarly injured. That would suggest someone else was involved. The brother who died was found at James Bay Cree Nation.

I feel like both were responsible. With the awful things they were doing, death was not a surprising outcome for at least one of them. Sad for the community but for Damien? Natural consequences even if it coming from his brother wasn't expected if that's what happened.

Oh wait, is this a 3rd person? Not Damien (who is older than Myles according to media)?

As for how they were injured, wondering if it's possible they both got them from victims who were defending themselves? That could also explain why Damien was found where he was, trying to go back to the community to attempt to get help if anyone was willing.
