Room For All

Welcome to Wondercafe2!

Good morning! With visions of vampires, bundles of books, and deferral of dogwalking, the week begins. (OK, I'll stop it.) The coffee cart us ready and open, come on in and join the discussions of these and other topics. All are welcome.

Bright sun, chilly, and calm here, making for a good day for yard work, mostly picking up branches in the feral back half of the yard so I can mow it.

The team that runs the conduit for the cable install has made it to our part of the road.
They are currently trying to figure out if should try on our side, or just cross the road, and then run along the other side. The other side has a narrow shoulder with steep hill, our side has a very narrow shoulder with drop off once you get past these three houses. Glad it is them. Glad that I am not directly paying for it.
We are in a very windy s bend loved by fast drivers. These guys have not been great about having flag men out. Hope they do whilst they are working in our section today.

My neighbour (the one I sometimes refer as the old farmer, because he did that too) used to own a contracting business pulling line for Rogers and telcos. I think one of his kids might still have the business but he's retired. A few years back when Bell pulled the lines for Fibe in our neighbourhood, he was having fun critiquing the contractor. I still haven't availed myself of it. I find Fibe overpriced compared to the cable service I get through Teksavvy.

Very efficient, NW. Well, tried to walk with my dog-walker today. Not very successful. Lucy was perturbed to be walking with both of us, with Jim in control, and kept on whining and changing her mind on which side to walk. It got better when we met up with Dorothy and Griffin (Lucy's only friend) and finished the walk with them. Also tried driving the car today for the first time. Many things are possible as long as I try to do everything right-handed, but I've also been left in a fair bit of discomfort. *CBD oil to the rescue*

We enjoyed a breakfast for lunch at a favourite spot today. Friends came in when we were almost done so we stayed and visited. The bone scan went well. It was done in a different machine today. How exciting. I got in fifteen minutes early as per usual for that department. Now I wait to hear the results. I have a doctor's appointment on Thursday. The GP Oncologist may call before then. She's good at doing that.

Good morning! As we wait for results, experiment with driving and dogwalking, watch the progress of cable installers, and all the other things that help make life what it is, let us gather round in spirit for conversation and hot beverages. All is ready.

Finally - the weather is consistently forecast to be above 10 degrees every day! So out the garden I ran. I tidied up my planters on the deck & added seed to them for some salad greens :-) Then I began to clean up the oak leaves in the back yard, pick up fallen sticks etc, trim back some perennials, etc etc. My happy place! When I came out from having lunch, I noticed several broken limbs lodged in maples at the back of our neighbour's property - but overhanging ours. Got my binoculars for a better look - and yup - went back in & messaged our arborist to give us an estimate on scrambling up to knock them down before they fall & do damage. Then to the front garden for a while! Oh I think I will be stiff tomorrow!!

Well, I tried to do a bit of gardening today. My 82 year old friend ran circles around me. I really can't much use my left arm (or at least not put any weight/force against it), so I move like a 92 year old at present... But with her "help" we got five bags of leaves/locust bean pods out, and a couple of bins of sticks and grape vines started/out.

I got a drive up to the stores today to buy left handed scissors- what a benefit. No more stabbing at packages with knives to open them. Also got more of the varnish- I am staining an Ikea shelf- which is quite a job one-handed and I can only do a bit at a time- too much activity in my good arm makes my broken one all tense and hurting. I have mastered to do dishes one- handed, as long as they are not too heavy to lift.
I am getting a bit of retirement feeling- taking all the time I need in the morning, having a nap in the afternoon, reading until midnight ( I am on book 4 of the HPotter series now). Just wish I could start cleaning up the garden…

Yup, that's retirement. Taking your time in the morning, maybe an afternoon nap and staying up late if you feel like it. It's pretty sweet!

I'm the same way P3.

I had brunch with church ladies today. It was a very nice gathering. After that my friend and I went to Fabricland and a local quilt store. I got some fabric for a sling bag for me and for a weekend bag for Mr Northwind. As if I need more projects........ :barefoot:

Snow here today.
