@Mrs.Anteater @BetteTheRed Wishing you some good healing!
Everyone else - watch your step!
Yes, falls are terrible things. We all worry about the ice on the sidewalks in the winter, but there are hazards indoors too.

When my mother-in-law was still living in her home, an OT had advised her to get rid of all the scatter mats.

So whenever any of the home care folks were coming to visit, those mats got put away. And right back out they came when the staff left!

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. Fortunately there were no mishaps.

Pets, too, are a big worry around the frail elderly. They are a tripping hazard for sure. Even a calm dog or cat.
My mom had a bad fall due to my sister's rabbit years ago. It wasn't the rabbit itself that was the problem, but the board blocking access to the stairs. She had tried to step over the board coming down and caught her foot on it.

I think our fish are less of a hazard. :giggle:

As long as you don't slop any water from the tank onto the floor. Spills are dangerous too

It really does seem to be the Season of Stumbles lately.
In the past week my cyber contact friends have reported damages. There are those here, of course, but many others. Three broken wrists, two broken legs, a broken ankle, and a damaged shoulder. None of them live nearby so I can't be of assistance.

An online friend of mine (another member of my writing site) just had surgery on an ankle she broke a few weeks ago. She's active in a church (helps run the Sunday' School) and apparently the church ladies are delivering meals while she recuperates

Good Friday morn, all! We empathize with those who have suffered falls and bone breaks, hoping for smooth healing and recovery. For this and other thoughts and topics, the coffee cart is now open. C'mon in, and take a load off your feet and off your mind.

Will the world blow up at some indeterminate time due to the crack caused by western piety vs eastern philosophy?

Quantum science ... or so it is stated in Exclusion and Uncertainty Theory ... and people uncertain over what is to be indeterminately excluded from sanity leads to question about who is really insane in the vast chaos of physical reality ... thus we may be essentially off the teetering place ... and causing a lot of dashing about to prove what we don't really know about the great unknown ... a vast domain that appears dark and in nihilism to avoid the other negative word ... that should eb utilized with respect ... given it allows us a place to hide guilt for social shortcomings!

You are not allowed to say this directly or determinately ... as it may be critical to great powers ... the source of corruption and thus generating humble gods like mean demos ... i.e. those in the middle of conflict!

If the conflicted didn't know any better ... would this become complex and hard (stoned) for simple reflection ... only Shadows to be found?

You could write a myth about it and powers would say it is just wrongly in left field ... against the Wahl? Thus it is best to express oneself so the powers cannot understand how it balances out ... pigeon linguistics ... just flew off with the piece of it ... the lost sector?

@BetteTheRed , ouch, fractured ribs are bad- are you now sleeping in a recliner?
I also had people offering food and driving services.

My mother is now getting morphine regularly and siblings are going in to sit with her. Hopefully she will be drifting over peacefully.

Hope you have a person to walk the hound and rearrange the kitchen to put things into easier reach.

This sounds rather familiar, Mrs. A, but at least I was close enough to be there at the end (we were meeting the doctor at his LTC the day Dad died). Must be rough dealing with it from a distance. Mrs. M went through that with her Mum. Good thoughts and vibes coming your way.

Hi folks, was not online for a bit, and have just caught up. thinking of you @Mrs.Anteater both for your mom and for your fall/injury. I hope that you are coping. Ditto for @BetteTheRed . Like others, i have had a few friends fall in the last few weeks. Some more serious than others. Broken wrists seem to be a common injury as we age.

I do not like dirty floors. My husband and I have significant tolerance differences.
I decided to buy a Roomba vacuum, which I really like. (new technology has improved). Then, I bought one of the newer roomba mops.
I love being able to just send it off. Between the two of them we keep up with dog hair and mucky footprints. Son does the stairs for now as part of his family chores. It was a good investment for us.

Sinister chuckles as the ape figures out how to hack a Roomba

Still kind of grey and mucky hereabouts. On the upside, I have an interview for my vacancy at work on Monday so there is once again hope that I won't be short-staffed for long.

Roomba vacuum? Roomba mop? Hey, if they ever develop a Roomba broom, can we give it a cute nickname, like Roomhilda? (Sorry. Still waiting for the caffeine to take effect.)

Good morning, all! The weekend edition of the coffee cart is up and running, for your convenience. Help yourself.

Can a Roomba do a rhumba?

Good morning! It's Saturday. How's your weekend? Not much doing here, just some housecleaning and shopping.
