Room For All

Welcome to Wondercafe2!

The lake they were on is actually a dammed river. Apparently the ice was pushed down by heavy snow pack. Water then flowed over that ice and eventually froze to make a second ice layer. They broke through the top layer only.
I never feel safe when out on the ice. Many people drive trucks and snowmachines to their favourite fishing areas. Most of them don't have any difficulties.

Good morning! As we hear about the adventures of those who went through the ice, let us gather round the coffee cart, for support and conversation, and, of course, hot beverages. All is ready.

Bad and good news in one day:
My mother has tested positive for Covid in her nursing home, has a low grade fever and O2 at 89- not short of breath though, but worrysome- refuse to go to the hospital.
My son and daughter in common law are now engaged. Not planning to marry til next year or so. He hid the ring box on the goat…

Good morning! As we are bombarded with good and bad news, and everything in between, whether it be on a personal level, or concerning the world, we gather here to unpack it all, and, hopefully, help it start to make sense. The coffee cart is ready, help yourself to your hot beverage of choice, and join the conversation.

Is denial a mire displacement of psyche, dementia or some other reasonable hole in de memes?

In apoplexy the parts goes for bust ... a form of apostacy ... when belief is shattered by learning something different and NU's to yah ...

Those settled on something permanently solid may find thins breaks them up ... very taxing ... and in competing with history they generate combativeness ... and so it too goes 'T uff (phth) thinking ... leading to a vast reawakening ... perhaps Revelations at one end or the other ... where the medium is denied! Yet there may be mores beyond that ...

Well, good to catchup by reading the room.
I had a busy weekend last weekend with a wedding shower that was delightful in the amount of joy that was received and spread. We had fun. Everyone is so ready to enjoy the company of others.
Our congregation had their Congregational Meeting yesterday, so had a busy week leading up to it, as finances were a struggle. Lots of back & forth, lots of last minute changes. Made it through though, and had a decent service with 50 people approx attending an on-line meeting. Started at 12:45 ended at 2;31.

My sister and her husband have Covid, and my mom lives with them. Mom, so far, doesn't have any symptoms. I'm supposed to take her for an eye appointment on Wednesday, which is the day sister and brother-in-law get to exit quarantine. I called Mom's eye care provider just to make sure she can still go to her appointment. I was expecting a 'no', but it was a 'yes', as long as she doesn't have any symptoms.

Good Monday morning. We're looking forward to going for lunch with friends visiting from Ontario. We'll be going to a great local English pub. If any of you make it out here you'll have to see this place.

That's surprising, especially considering the close contact needed. Here healthcare does screen for close contacts. I don't think it would stop all appointments but it would stop some. Others I think it means extra precautions are taken.

Hopefully she stays well!

My laser clinic did a full screener including asking about close contacts. Not sure what they would have done if I said "yes" to any of the questions.

Is that the one across from some government office and up the hill and across from the marina?

No. It's off the beaten path outside of a small village. Apparently the guy who built it based it on a pub in England. Low ceilings, fireplaces and no TVs. Great food.
Oo, sounds nice. Well, except the low ceilings. I'm not as tall as my son but still tall enough to have an aversion to low doorways and ceilings. Especially since my poor head seems to be almost magnetically attracted to them.

My mom continues to have a fever and now has gotten oxygen. She still refuses to go to the hospital and so far my siblings and the nursing staff accepts her decision. I suppose we have to take it day by day.

The son does have a good sense of humour. I was surprised the goats didn’t eat it. ( I wanted to make the goats Halloween costumes, bit wasn’t allowed because they would eat them).

Sounds like your mom is getting necessary care & support in her home - with familiar surroundings & familiar staff. Hard to be so far away at times like this. Sending hugs.

The Crow & Gate? I've read about it, but didn't manage yet to fit it in on an itinerary.

They're not so low that they affect tall people (as far as I can tell). They are just lower than normal. Lunch and the visit were great.
