Ha, stupid me, I remembered that this weekend is time change- and changed my clock last night when I went to bed, being surprised that the clocks differed from my iPads clock this morning..well , I am a bit early. The cat is protesting, of course, he inner clock wants breakfast.

Good morning, all! Yes, tomorrow the clocks go back. Maybe we can write our MPs and try to stop this annual gollishness, stay on standard time all year round. In any event, the coffee cart is up and running. Enjoy.

Time to change the clock
Or wake up to a nasty shock

And it's your MPP/MLA you need to write. Believe it or not, this is provincial jurisdiction (cf Saskatchewan). Ontario actually has passed a bill to end DST but it is conditional on Quebec and New York State doing it, since having our clocks out of sync with close neighbours/trading partners could be problematic for business. A bit surprised that Michigan is not on that list, too.

Here's an article which points out that Ontario went to permanent daylight time which may, in fact, be the worst option. We should be fixing our clocks on standard time. Well done, Queen's Park.

It's not just ON, seems like multiple provinces ans states moving that way. The AB referendum was a no, barely. I think if the question was should we stop changing the clocks that would have been a yes. It wasn't well publicized it was suggested to go to daylight time year round was because that's the plan for other places too.

The article says that Russia tried doing year-round daylight time and backed off after three years. Makes the sunrise too late in the far North. They say even in Alberta it would mean the sun rising as late as 10am in the most northerly regions around the solstice.

Heard on the radio that all year standard time would be the healthiest for all in Canada.

I'm not sure how that would work. I can get behind 24 fairly logical timezones, same time year around.
I think the standard work hours would still be fairly provincial. One place would be 9 to 5, another 10 to 6, 11 to 7, etc.

Uh, fish allergy has gotten worse. Chemguy grilled some. Let it cool slightly outside. I was in the same room but not at the table and now my breathing isn't great. Different than a normal asthma attack in the it's more just constrictive, less reactive. Ie. Not really coughing much. I'm hanging out now with my air purifier.

Sanford Fleming developed the idea of Time Zones, if I recall, to help standardize long-distance train schedules. It worked well. It worked in other areas of business and commerce. DST came into being to help reduce the use of coal, I think. Since that seems not to be so much an issue, I would suggest DST has outlived it utility, now causes more hurt than help, and should be set aside permanently. Let's go back to Standard Time, and stay there.

I think I first heard of this from @Mendalla Rise at 11? China’s Single Time Zone Means Keeping Odd Hours (Published 2016)

I like that, the biggest problem with it I see is confusion with the workday in some provinces would cover 2 different dates, although many shift workers and night workers already deal with that.

It makes it a lot easier when planning something at a time across timezones, no how many hours different are we needs to be factored in. Just need to make sure it's a reasonable time for someone else. 8 pm could be night time for one.
