I put out peanuts for critters, but I've learned to do it infrequently and randomly, so no expectations get built up. However, yesterday, I got home from work, and a fat grey squirrel in my big maple started scolding me loudly, so I put out some nuts for her/him.

Speaking of expectations, even the bluejays will come by squawking for peanuts if they learn to expect them on a certain location

Good morning from sunny Vancouver Island. We're going to join my sister and her husband for a walk at a fabulous park here in town. Our fifth wheel is getting washed today too.

Baela is a very nice doggo. Totally friendly and chill, but still has puppy-ish levels of energy.

There, housecleaning is done (at least my part, though I think Mrs. M has quite a bit done, too). Tomorrow is the garage if the weather holds. Today has been kind of threatening and I like to move stuff like the bikes and mower outside so I can do a thorough cleaning. Also need to clean the interior of the car.

Now resting a bit with a cup of lime water. Then I might see if I have enough energy left for a ride on my exercise bike.

If you befriend chipmunks by feeding them they will get tamer and tamer. Eventually they will make a big nuisance of themselves. It's better to not even start.

Leave nature alone, I say. Even feeding the birds is getting controversial. One problem with birds is they are both fussy and messy when it comes to bird feeders. The seed they leave on the ground will attract a variety of critters ....

Yeah, I think it was Banff that has outlawed them, if not there it's one of the towns in that area.
A bit less of an issue in the city, but still it attracts a few things.

So - I just popped down to a local 'everything but 'pharma and food' stores. I thought I caught a glimpse of someone who reminded me of a grandson I haven't seen in over six years. My vision isn't reliable and I decided I was seeing things that weren't there. A bit later a local grandson greeted me and said he was picking up stuff for the house he just bought. That was when the long lost grand walked up. He had come to help with the move. Soon be time to get to see the inside of the young folks house.
Sheesh those boys are tall. Both well over 6 feet. Made me feel like the old fashioned type of Little Old Lady!

Walmart and Zellers before the advent of superstores? Though my old Zellers had a pharmacy. Got my first glucometer and some good advice from the pharmacist there, who was also diabetic. Maybe Biway/Giant Tiger?

Something like that but much smaller though. They carry household cleaning and repair stuff, kitchen gadgets and electronics, plumbing supplies, toys, bikes, small tools, camping gear, pet supplies - rather like an old fashioned village General Store but with modern items.

I guess Canadian Junk as my mom calls it is like that. Walmart's here have had pharmacies as far back as I can remember. The other hardware stores are pretty limited on other stuff.

I needed to pick something up from someone so did a partial walk down the blvd, it's already quite busy, at least the number of kids we would get in a night all on that 1 street the day before Halloween, plus cars. The parking lot at the end of the street had a lot of people pulling in to it as I went by too.

It's just so many houses that decorated, and the lights aren't up yet as it was still pretty light. A lot of projections going on there as well when it does get dark.

I had hoped to get some of the skeletons and ghouls on the rooves, but missed pictures of them.

Real difference between young neighbourhoods and old neighbourhoods. I live on a particularly 'old' street, with a lot of 'old' residents, in a part of town with a heavily senior demographic. There's a newfie couple around the corner, though, who totally go all out. Me? There are two kids next door, two across the street. I bought 4 large candy bars and will deliver them with a note tomorrow, then keep the light turned off and the critter as calm as possible.
