I mean, I am not "well" where I am, but your specific challenges are different. Here in north-central Ontario, the damp is not awful, neither is the heat, usually, it's not windy and it's rarely smoky.

Spent 7 hours in Emergency yesterday, got an ultrasound on my leg today and another over 2 hours in emergency today. Swollen leg is not due to any blood clots and am on antibiotics for the infection in my leg. Got one more cabinet up yesterday and did precision carpentry today making and installing the spacer and mounting bracket for the microwave. Felt crappy this afternoon and evening. Might be response to antibiotics. Tomorrow we are off to Ikea in Montreal to get the cabinet we need to replace the cabinet we are moving to support the microwave, and meeting our daughter, her partner/boyfriend, and our granddaughter in a park in Lachine for a fun, mid-day visit. With luck and good health, should be able to install three cabinets and the microwave on Monday and Tuesday. One base cabinet after that and it will be time to cut off our kitchen plumbing and remove base cabinets, sink, and install new base cabinets. Hope to have that completed by August 15. Just need to finish healing from insect bits and poison ivy so my sleep is not interrupted by attacks of itching.

So, the damp of the Pacific coast, the deep snow of some of Ontario, the damp cold of the East Coast, would all be worse than smoke, heat and wind?
I don't think the wind here is worse than what most places get. Heat definitely not. Low 30s is typically the max here, this year has been atypical. I hear of smoke in most provinces although I don't know how it varies by cities. We do seem to be better than most of BC here. Worst place I have lived was Waterloo for 4 months, the humidity there was awful for me.
I would also need a place with decent specialists, so that needs to factor in too.

Ouch for an infection to be that bad. Don't forget to take breaks as needed, maybe stick the leg up for a bit between all you have gone on this week!

I know that this wasn't typical, but surely there are lesser storms with wind that are fairly common?

No, it really is not terribly windy here. Thunderstorms and rain are not uncommon. This tornado was recent, but the last was in '85. I just remember my trip across the prairies as being constantly windy. And wind bothers me, over more than a day or so.

Southern AB is known to be windy. That's not where I live. We had a storm today, along with a pressure change this morning that was part of the system moving in. It's not constantly windy here, this evening has been nice.

This is my ignorance. I have travelled west to the coast and back, once, in the fall. Both directions, I found Manitoba to past the Rockies, excessively windy.

I'll avoid Kansas. ;)

It's hard when it's not just one aspect. Not sure if Vancouver Island would be good or not, weather-wise and what I could get for all the specialists. I would have to experience winter there as damp cold is very different than what I'm used to. @Northwind do they tend to be affected by the wildfire smoke or does it all blow the other way?

Of course, job, housing etc. needs to match up for a big move like that too, so no plans of a move any time soon.

Here I don't even think the wind was super bad today. There was a clear pressure change, Chemguy had a headache this morning. The wind gusts though I think just happened to be in the right direction to affect the pressure in the bedroom, not sure if it was the AC, the bathroom fan or what. I should have moved earlier but I was sleeping and half waking up not enough to click in what was going on. Chemguy really woke me up and helped me move to the couch.

I have found the prairies windier than Southern Ontario.

We have gotten smoke on the island. It wasn't nearly as bad as what we had in GP or FSJ. Likely that's due the the prevailing winds that blow away from the island.

Good morning! As we speak of prairie winds and weather conditions, and mountain storms and such, let us pause in our sojourning for warmong beverages and conversations. The cart is ready, come and get it.

We seemed to have had two systems move through, and I mistook the break in the middle for the end. It's lovely now.

Can you really accept a pluralistic observation if attempting to observe it from one way? That should throw the opposition off in a tangent!

Contrary winds are said to cause eddies ... science lesson for the day for those with mental observational complexities!

Poem Is ole ...

I thought Ontario would not be as windy as Calgary, but in Deep River we had winds worse than what I was used to in Calgary. There were nights when the wind howling through the trees went on all night it seemed, sounding like a plane flying just overhead. Talking to locals learned we had exceptional weather while we lived there. We would get a heavy snowfall in December followed by inches of pouring rain. I think we had heavy rains nearly every month in the winter, along with lots of snow. It was tough for the cross country ski club trying to maintain their immense trail network.

We get that occasionally down here in Southwestern Ontario, usually in winter or late Fall. I've lost tree limbs to storms like that.

Just came in. Was bundling branches and other yard waste for city pickup this week. Really muggy out. Just bundling and hauling branches got me drenched in sweat. Probably as bad as the day I spent actually doing the pruning a few weeks back.

@jimkenney12 - hoping your trip to Montreal went well, and your leg is beginning to feel better. Do take it a bit easy ... your body needs your help in making repairs.

I'm a happy person today! My son came to visit and now past his 2 week post 2nd jab period - so I got a HUGE HUG!! Felt so so so good after all these months of keeping carefully separated.

Yeah, we had ours visit on the long weekend and it was so nice to be face-to-face without a mask. Everyone in my immediate (and probably extended) family is fully vaccinated.
