Ash is such a clean, hard, long-burning wood. It was the old guy's favorite. Deep winter nights, he'd always put a few big pieces of ash in the fireplace just before we went to bed.

I know. My local park is almost now devoid of ash, and they were the bulk of the old bit of forest that they made the park out of. Very sad. (They've put in a rando assortment of new trees, almost all different varieties, too close, etc. I wish they'd at least put them in clumps of same species.)

Referral for allergy testing finally sent, I should get a lot of paperwork next wwek.
More cortisone injections, things weren't as bad as before but my eyes have been pretty leaky.

Oh, there's often something about arborists. I had a very handsome one here a couple of years ago, dealing with a dying maple in the back. The larger ones with a crew often have a couple of young ones who love to show off to anyone watching how ably they can carry big logs to the truck/chipper.

True story - a quirky acquaintance of mine - her name is Jane. Met a guy - French - turned out he was an arborist & they struck up a relationship and lived together for some years, until sadly he became ill and died. His business was Tarzan Tree Service - so truly - they were Tarzan & Jane! Always made me smile. And everyone referred to him as Tarzan, never his given name. His trucks of course had zebra stripe paint jobs. He built her an extraordinary tree house in a huge tree at the back of their property - so sweet - until the city decreed it must be removed for some reason I can't recall.

Good morning! Time for coffee, and tea, and etc.! As we ponder arborists and roofers who look like them, nice firewood for next season, and all manner of other topics, let us join with warm beverages and warm hearts around the coffee cart.

A bright sunny spring day has dawned here. I've finished my coffee, donned my work clothes and am soon heading outside for a day in the sunshine. Don't forget your sunscreen everyone!

Happy to hear that you have a sunny day. We have snow again - but it will melt eventually. Every time it snows in the spring we wonder (and hope) hat his is the last dump before summer.

I think winter here is finally over after our brief resurgence last week. Will get out and do some yardwork this afternoon.

Right now, just discovered my Google passwords got munged somehow. Looks it replaced my sync'd passwords with the much smaller password list from my tablet when I tried to sync it up. Oh well, it still has my Wondercafe2 password (somewhat sadly since that's one I actually remember). :D Just means I might need to do some "Forgot my password" resets over the next bit.

re: ash trees. We have lost a lot of them down at our shore property on St. Joe Island. My cousin, who lives near Ottawa, says that they lost a lot on her farm, but they are now growing back. So maybe there is hope.

Good morning. After a fairly busy week we're having a quiet day so far. I may even have a second cup of coffee. Or maybe have some Irish Breakfast tea......if I feel like getting out of this recliner. I think I'll be seeing what good movies are available on Netflix, Crave or wherever.

I remember when many of the trees in my landscape were elms. Then came the devastation of Dutch Elm Disease. Some years later, I had a beautiful little elm sapling start in my backyard, so I left it. Got to about 20' high. Died. But I'm seeing more elm saplings, along the rail trail, so perhaps it really is gone for now.

Can't wait to see this blocked @Northwind! I've just decided to do a chemo shawl for a friend of a friend ... but I have to say, I really HATE trying to figure out yarn purchases online. I love to touch the yarn skeins, see how soft or scratchy they may be, chat with the yarn shop staff about the yarn knits up, put together different colour combos (I need 4 for this shawl!). I finally gave up & e-mailed my former local yarn shop owner with info to ask for her suggestions - then I may take a drive to go get the yarn - she relocated & is now about an hour's drive away. I sure do miss her.

I think I'll be seeing what good movies are available on Netflix, Crave or wherever.
I was in a webinar the other night & the Indigenous elder highly recommended a documentary to us - on youtube I think - More than Bows & Arrows - about aboriginal culture before contact. So that's on my list now.
