@KayTheCurler I think it's ten-pin bowling (it must be, right - bowl is in the title) :)

@BetteTheRed I am so sorry to hear about Lucy. Is your boarder interested in helping contribute to this expense (I'm thinking that even a $5/month would be a nice touch if he was at fault)? I hope she heals quickly.

@Tabitha I'm glad that it was such a serendipitious (sp?) meeting - I love when the universe makes things like that happen. Hugs to you as you continue on this journey.

Today was a bad mental health day for me. We got a little snow despite the fact that it was bitterly cold and that made driving pretty bad apparently. In the end I didn't leave home and am really marshalling my resources to go to my CPAP appointment tomorrow at 9. Days like today I really hate my brain and debate my purpose on the planet - the prayer patch that Carolla sent me helped :)

Holy cow - just saw on Twitter (so it must be true) - John Baird is retiring - I posted about it in Politics but this makes me so curious I may not be able to sleep now!

interesting what can make your day turn around isn't it? Who says God doesn't work in mysterious ways?? ;)

I thought the Superbowl was a competitive eating event.

Justme, you have lots of purposes, including educating folks like me!

Glad the prayer patch helped..the wonder of WonderCafe2 when the virtual becomes real

Justme, I hope you made it out to your appointment, even if you had to drag yourself there. I find sometimes after that bit of forcing I start to feel better, I would guess you likely experience the same thing at times, even though our problems are different.

Bette sorry to hear your dog is going to need the surgery after all.

We've had three big storms in the last six days (and more coming). The most recent one stopped snowing about 4:00 am. So up at 6:00 am and Seelerman got out the snowblower and cleaned the driveway. At 8:30 we met Seelergirl at the hospital for me to sit with her before and after a colonscopy. We walked through the waiting room - two weeks ago it was standing room only when Seelerman and I went for blood tests. Today you could walk in, take a number, and be called immediately. People apparently made more effort to get there for their out-patient appointments - after all rescheduling would mean having to do the prep all over again. But again there was no waiting. Test results - good.
Seelergirl came to our place for a few hours, then home where her 18 year old daughter would be with her and her man soon home.

We are getting tired of the frequent storms.

Thanks Chemgal. I did manage to get to my appointment but I looked like a freak - full of tics and such and then home to rest - night terrors kept me up most of the night. Hope you are having a good day - I saw that it is cold out West too. It will be milder tomorrow here - I think the high will be around -5 or something.

Sorry to hear you had such a bad sleep; I was awake a lot last night too - just couldn't get my brain to settle down. So I better get off the screens early tonight so I might have a better sleep. Hopefully tonight will be better for you too Justme.

It was either a full moon or almost full and Jupiter (or maybe it's Saturn) is in retrograde so apparently that explains a lot.

(or maybe it's just that February historically sucks for me - January marks my sixth year of disability and we lost my Dad three years ago this weekend)

Feb sucks for a lot of folks, JustMe.

Here's hoping that you are able to find your way back to you soon.
In the meantime, whatever we can do in this virtual space, feel free to do.

One thing that I know helps me, is avoiding some of the crazy threads that sometimes spin up. The vaccine one is a bit like that to me. I pop in, but, also know that at times, I just have to walk away and know that there are many voices and I am sure that my opinion is no different than some others. I call it tag-team posting!

Seeler, it is interesting that you usually call your daughter's partner "her man"

I'm open to suggestions. She has a husband - they are not divorced yet, although their separation is permanent. She's been living common law for well over a year now, but it is awkward to refer to him as her 'common law husband'. 'Boyfriend seems juvenile for two middle-aged people, and it me it indicates an early stage of a relationship. And just refering to him by his first name (or a fake name on the internet) doesn't indicate a relationship.

Open to suggestions. What do other people use in this situation?

Partner.

Although some people might assume "same sex partner".

Others say "partner" is the all inclusive term.

We sometimes say "significant other" in this house. You could also say POSLQ :). . . it comes from the U.S. and there was a song about it. Won't you be my POSLQ? Persons of the opposite sex living together.

I have a "guy". As in "my guy and I are going to the farmer's market Saturday a.m.". Sometimes partner, although in my case, indicates a level of commitment that we don't have in that we have separate addresses.

Lucy's coming home tonight, which makes me happy.
