It was about a foot or so here at least. Two feet where the wind had blown drifts into some spots (what are those spots called again, winter people? I forgot.) It’s still mostly on the ground. I stayed in, on couch or in bed most of the day. Landlady shovelled a narrow path for me. I think it rained a bit so it’s slushy on the tracks I made to the end of the driveway. This morning, I wish I’d taken a video of the view down the street. Three neighbours, two on one side of the street, one on the other, all two or three lots apart, wearing bright visible colours, were slinging their shovels in synch, it seemed like. It would’ve made a good visual for music, I thought. The main cross road at the corner was being driven on, and one neighbour tried to pull her car out from her side spot on the corner, and got stuck. Two people were trying to dig her out so she could get onto the main road.

I’m not made for this weather. When I was a kid I would’ve been excited to see it, it was so rare, and would’ve wanted to be out in it all day, like Northwind’s dog! Not today. I’m not enjoying it. I did a lot of nothing. I want to be out on my wheels. I think it’s the most snow we’ve had in years.
wondering if covid cases will go down with people forced to stay in for a few days due to snow. We aren’t pros at snow so it would keep lots of people away from trying to shop, etc. They really played up the weather warnings, it felt like. This wasn’t exactly the first time we’ve had a good dump of snow. They were saying it was going to feel like -15 to -25, but it only got as low as -3, “feeling like -8”.

Yeah, I saw someone from Seattle reporting 8 inches there and was wondering how much landed up your way. Doggie looks happy.
Yes dog loved it. She and her friend had s good tear around.

Yeah, my son on Salt Spring reported that the shovel we brought from Ontario had proved useful again.

Our friend came by with a shovel this morning and cleared quite a bit of our snow.

It really was a lot of snow for one day. Anyone with mobility issues would have trouble. @Kimmio Laughterlove it sounds like you found a good solution.

It will be gone within a week. :)

Not really. I can just get out to the end of the driveway and back. I hope someone can get groceries for me tomorrow or Monday. I was going to stock up but ended up not buying enough I forgot bread and really need it, and pasta - and coffee, I’m down to the last of the coffee! How did I forget those! I was out of sorts I think. My stepdad was going to help the next day but then he couldn’t drive in the flurries. The roads were still ok at that point but his eyes aren’t.

if it’s deep enough to hold me up (the resistance actually prevents falls, I find, but it’s a lot of slow exhausting work to move in) and soft if I fall (and there are people out walking who can help me up just in case) perhaps I can hike with both my canes to my parents - it’s about 6 blocks. It might take a couple of hours - at least an hour - if I attempt it.Or maybe my landlady can drive me if she can get onto the road tomorrow. I’ll sit in the back with my mask on for 5 minutes. Or maybe she can pick up a few essentials for me. i just don’t like asking her for favours. It feels like I shouldn’t ask her.

I didn’t plan very well for this. I’m used to buying a bit at a time to carry home, or frozen dinners, or premade at the store deli (because I only cook easy stuff now) as the store down the street is the only place I go to. I still buy a Tim’s there everyday (I know. I’m in and out fast, but it‘s something to do. A destination. A place to say hello to people. I try not to go at busy times, and i talk with the staff in the smoking area.) I’ve got a bunch of yakusoba? noodle dinners in the freezer. They’re really good. Fresh-frozen. Lots of veggies in them. But i took them out of the box and the packages are bloated after being in the freezer for a couple of months. Don’t think they’re safe to eat. My soups are expired. I have perogies. Frozen veggies.I have instant oatmeal. I have half n half but no coffee. I have herbal tea. have apples. Some yogurt. Some veggie ground round - I’ll be okay but it won’t be the most pleasant eating experience. I threw out a whole bunch of stuff...all my cereal and pasta, and rice - a whole load of food in the cupboard - I just chucked it all, about $100 worth of food - when i had pantry moths, to get good and rid of them... and didn’t replace it all. I also used up my favourite canned stuff when I stayed home on bad days already. :( I have ice cream, for what it’s worth. The irony. Lol.

Walmart is doing delivery beyond ON now and if you haven't used it before there is a code for $10 off on the site. Not sure if your area is covered, mine apparently is, but there's 'no slots available' - I think one of the stores near is offering it but not specifically to my postal code, hopefully that works better for you there! There is a minimum but it's not super high.

Thanks. I already thought of delivery. can’t afford a minimum. Quite broke until next week. I only need a few things to get by and I’m sure somebody in my life can get them for me (to me). Upstairs can probably give me some ground coffee. I just feel uncomfortable asking in case it puts me in their ‘debt’ in their mind, know what I mean? - life here is precarious. I’ll get by anyway. I’ll just frequent eat small amounts so I don’t feel starved, and drink lots of water and tea. Can afford to lose a few pounds. It’s only a few days at most, then I will be sure to stock up for next time! In the big picture, maybe this is the reason why I gained some winter weight earlier. Lol.

I think I heard a salt truck! That’s good, if so. A big truck went by at 1:30 am. Thinking it’s, hopefully, a city/ municipal truck.

I don’t know if my landlords and next door neighbour on the corner (near the bus stop) know it’s their responsibility to shovel the sidewalks out in front of and bordering their property. If so, I could take my walker to the bus stop and the bus to the grocery store and back. It’s just down the main road, not far! But it’s difficult to get 50-100 ft to the corner.

Good morning! As we celebrate the joys and grumble at the trials that a fresh snowfall brings, let us remember that spring begins in 35 days or so. In the meantime the coffee cart is up and running. Coffee is brewed, tea water is a-boilin'. Come and get it.

Oh, and for those who are observing it, Happy Valentines Day.

Happy Valentines day. I am thinking of the flower shops for who it probably would be the first business of the year- but with lockdown- no business at all. At least in Germany, they are still all closed. Also wondering if there are even enough planes to deliver flowers all over the world. Wasn’t it last year that The Netherland had to destroy most of their tulips?

Lets hope they found a better solution this year.

I am 10 min from a Walmart Superstore but they don't deliver to my postal code. Go figure. Since it's that close, I can curbside.

Recall folks ... this is the most sane place in the cosmos according to some sages! All loyalists uphold this and refuse to alter learning patterns about established egos ...

Beyond that ... well that's something else unknown! Superlative egos mistaken as superegos?

good morning, folks.
Had a bit of a sleep in this morning.

Wish that i was Samantha and would wiggle my nose and deliver some food to you, Kimmio.

I have reflected often during COVID on how having lots of pantry space and a freezer makes it easy during COVID. It allows me to buy at sale times, and stock up. Having a car as well, and of course, the mobility to buy in bulk. Our previous home did not have much storage. The thought of buying in bulk was crazy. Just didn't happen.

I was baking / cooking yesterday, and planning for another day of it today. Freezer fill time. Made sweet potato casseroles for the freezer, as we found we like to be able to pull them out when doing meat in the oven. Easy to do a bunch at once. Also made the turkey pot pie filling. Today will be a pastry day. Made some muffins, and will make more. I have started to put packages of two muffins in the freezer inside the bigger bag, so that I can take them to work with me. Yesterdays was an apple/cranberry/oatmeal muffin. Today will be rhubarb muffins and also banana muffins, plus apple crisp for my youngest.

Making a special dinner tonight for my husband and youngest son. Wouldn't normally, but, hey, we're all home and it i Valentine' Day

Yes, that and having the money to built up a supply when sales are on. And, also having cooking skills and problem solving skills. I used to have a young mother with two small kids three doors down from me, who told me well after Christmas, that she had gotten a turkey with all the supplies from the foodbank, but then could not cook it because she had no pan big enough. So it sat in her fridge until it was no longer good to eat. I could have easily loaned her a pan as I was invited to turkey supper and didn’t need it, or, she could have gotten an aluminum one at the dollar store or she could have just cut it apart and cook it that way. Baffled me, that she didn’t find a solution.

Remember intelligence and knowledge is declared dangerous in some BS! The entendre carries on ...

Some people, like maybe young mothers with stresses, and time pressures, or for whatever reason, aren’t good at multitasking and timing. I’d pay somebody for the ingredients, to cook an extra plate for me if they’re cooking anyway, so I’d have more time since doing anything takes time. And standing and moving takes balance. It gets more dangerous to cook. ....As long as they weren’t judgmental about it.

I cooked a turkey for company once. Only once in my life. The turkey turned out fine, a bit dry, but i accidentally put Italian sausage in the stuffing...wrong kind. It was edible. I was proud of myself for that but I never did it again. No point. When it was two of us we went somewhere else if invited, or we bought small portions of turkey.

A frozen pre-cooked turkey dinner with instructions would be ideal for struggling persons. Unless they like cooking and have done it/ watched it done, I don’t see how overly helpful it is to give people struggling with various life needs a frozen raw turkey. What if they don’t have a range? Or a big sink? Plus, some people like myself can’t deal too well with raw meat, and I loath touching it. It’s a thing. A real thing. I’m okay once it gets cooking but it really makes me queasy.

I figured out something today, and feel "d'oh".
If you ignore someone, you won't see the threads that they have in any forum.
Couldn't figure out why I couldn't see a thread that I knew that was active and could post on when linked to me.
double d'oh

Yeah, it's one the problems with using Ignore. OTOH, if I'm ignoring someone, I probably won't be interested in threads they start in any case.

Ah sorry, you had mentioned not really being stocked up, I was thinking too you could order the heavier stuff as well which is a pain to drag yourself.
