She does come across as something of a mini-me, which might help.

Also, No Frills has all of their Christmas chocolate severely reduced, so a grief package is being compiled. In my world, if tea doesn't fix what ails you, chocolate might.

Chocolate is another dark force ... could be the essence you'll oils ... leads to lolling about ...

Good morning, all! Leftover chocolate goes well with coffee, and maybe even with some teas. Anyway, the coffee cart is up and running. Enjoy, and habe a wondrous day!

good morning folks. Home from church. Sounds funny as it is virtual, but, I was producing & also presenting so needed good internet; hence, drove into my office. Nice to settle into the house on this snowy morning.

We had good 20 cm of snow and while I was having a slow breakfast, my 80 year old neighbour cleared most of my driveway with his snowblower. Here’s to good neighbourliness.
I was stressed out over the holidays because it became clear that my car needs a replacement before I am able to pay off the house, which will extend the time of paying off the house. Then I called someone whose husband is a regional manager in a car company, because I was even more stressed our when I noticed that all the specials are ending tomorrow, which means I have to decide by tomorrow, so I wanted to know if there was another deal coming up which would give me more time to decide. And- bless him, he didn’t know about other deals, but he got on the phone and arranged for special pricing for me. I am usually the one getting taken advantage off at car dealerships, so this is wonderful! I feel a bit bad because I didn’t mean to ask for a favour. But, as my other friend said- that’s how things work in Canada( at least in rural areas), you know someone who knows someone....
( which does make it difficult for people new to the country).

On another note- my mother had been able to visit my sister and family twice over the holidays and also got her vaccination. She was in a very good mood and seems to come around with getting used to the nursing home. When I skyped, she was busy looking for a picture/ decoration to put up next to her name tag at her door. A first sign of acceptance for me.

That is lovely that someone helped you, @Mrs.Anteater .

Glad to hear you mother is setting in.
For my Dad, we put up his "hole in one" wall plaque. It was really helpful, as when he could get out & about in the residences by himself, he could confirm he was back in his room by touching the plaque. Plus it was unique, and people would often ask him, so made for good stories.

We went out for a walk this morning. It was nice to have sunshine after all the rain we've had lately. There are flood warnings in the area. The river was high. Once we got away from the river we let the dog off-leash so she could have a good run. She sure got the crazies out.

So beautiful, Northwind. I am feeling a little stir crazy these days, missing my dog buddy, missing easier mobility, and just finishing up my last church service before surgery. Tomorrow I go for bloodwork. Surgery date isn't until January 22nd, but getting into the mindset of even more pain and less mobility for awhile after that...heading to good results though, (I hope). I have a couple of meetings and a newsletter to compile and a book club to run before surgery, so I have enough to keep me somewhat busy. We have had a daily count of covid cases here: 5, 6, 2, 3....to be expected because of people 'coming home' for Christmas. We had 0 for so long, except for 2 cases in the jail (prisoners brought in from outside the community). I am just hoping this does not affect my hip replacement surgery date.

Hopefully the cases there won't be a problem, there's so few! My subzone is down to under 600 after peaking above 900, but who knows what Christmas will do. Enjoy your weeks of business before the rest and recovery phase!

All the best for your surgery Nancy. Did you have to have a Covid test? In NS, people have to get tested 3 days before any planned surgery, a friend of mine is getting Carpal tunnel done on Friday, so she has to isolate herself between the test and the surgery.

Actually, the perception of pain can be very different. I hear a lot of people say the post Op pain is a lot different than what was before, a friend of mine just had her second hip done, and pain did not compare to what was before. It is important to follow the protocol and take your pain meds as ordered so you can move.
In our hospital, almost everyone goes home within two days. Early mobilization seems to be the key.

A slow gray day here. We did finish a jigsaw puzzle - it's very colourful and came with 3 sets of 3D glasses - different pictures are highlighted when wearing each of the red, blue or yellow glasses. Xmas gift - kinda interesting.

Saw on a fb post that my niece who is an ICU nurse got her COVID vaccination today - so hooray for that being a good start to her year.

Happily, I did gather my courage, now that my 30 day Microsoft 'security quarantine' is over - I pulled out my laptop, and was at last able to provide the 'key' it needed to complete the updates. So now it's working again!

Watched the Hillhurst service online as I often do; perused a million or so knitting patterns this afternoon ... and decided to go with one I already have LOL.

Got an email this evening from Canada Post about my parcel (I had initiated a 'service ticket on Dec 17 for non delivery) - still not delivered - they're 'investigating' and say "most issues are resolved in 10 days or less" - we'll see. Fingers crossed and prayers offered to St. Anthony who I think is the patron saint of lost items.

Thinking of you Nancy as you prepare for your surgery. Trusting it will go well and you'll be back out hiking by the summer!

All the best to you with your surgery @Nancy I hope it is done on schedule and that your recovery is smooth. One of my walking buddies had her knee replaced in September. The first time she came out on a hike with us she figured she'd go for half an hour and turn around. She ended up doing all 7k. It was a fairly flat hike for most of it which was probably good. I've been blown away by her recovery. She was pretty active prior to surgery apparently. She's around 65 or so. I'm not suggesting you need to do that though being active does seem to help, within reason. I know when I had foot surgery ten years ago (fused MTP joint - where people get bunions) I noticed the healing progressed better when I was able to fully weight bear as tolerated.

We're still waiting on a delivery too, I tried to order something instead but the curbside pickup advertised as being ready as soon as 3 hours only gives me the option of the 14th - with the item in stock

Good morning, all! Welcome to Monday. The coffee cart is up and running, as we remember and commiserate with those going thru or recovering from surgical procedures. Enjoy.

As we slip seamlessly into Tuesday, the cart is once again ready. Java is perked, water for tea and others is ready.
