Talking about the weather- interestingly, Germany has the” Ice Saints” from May 11 to 15 th- a time where, if the nights are clear, there is a risk of frost- despite it already being already warm during the day. Its usually safe to plant afterwards. Its a regular occurrence. They are named after the Saints that have their remembrance day on these days- Mamertus, Pankratius, Servatius, Bonifatius and the Cold Sophie. Meteorology wise, it has to do with the land warming up but the ocean still being cold. Supposedly a similar phenomenon happens here on the east cost?
Another weather event is the “ sheeps cold”- a cold break at the begin of June-when the sheep usually are sheared - which would make then cold and at risk of getting sick, so people waited until the sheep's cold snap was over with shearing.
I know from experience here that we usually get a bad snowstorm around St. Paddy’s day and a January thaw with mild temperatures mid January.

In all kinds of weather tea and coffee bring comfort. At least to me, anyway. The hot beverage cart is set up and ready. Enjoy!

Had a dinner guest tonight. A squirrel sat on the edge of the deck box across from the kitchen window eating something (could not really see what). This is him/her on their way home.

A couple of the bunnies were around, too.

It was a very bad day for me today. Was hoping for walk with dog and daughter today, but just too wet windy cold nasty.
It was cold here too, no beet planting as I had semi-planned. We had a bit of hail as well, although again really small, and not as much as some parts of the city - it looked like it snowed. I did go out for a walk with Chemguy, I'm still trying to build myself back up from the winter and it is slow going as I just don't feel well. I didn't feel like walking, but physically felt ok so decided to force myself out. I figured with the cool weather though we could take some of the nicer walking paths, been avoiding them the last few times due to the bikers who use them and don't help out the pedestrians with distancing and there's one in particular which gets a high degree of use. It worked, we crossed paths with only a few people and everyone was great about space. Halfway in I was glad I pushed myself out, and was warm enough with a jacket and some magic mitts and while we were out there was only a slight drizzle. We even spent a bit of time looking out into the water, the lake isn't open yet (plans are coming, probably this week), but some of the fence is fairly close to the water and even noticed they updated the small little boardwalk.

There is a skiff of snow on the ground. At least it isn't enough to bother shoveling. Anyway, the coffee cart is ready, to supply your virtual hot drinks needs.

Snow flurries are coming down here. Looks funny with the green, green grass and the spring flowers.

What can we do except pour ourselves a coffee? c(_)

Morning has arrived! Let the tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and other warming drinks flow like water! Enjoy the day!

Thanks for the coffee. c(_)

Zoom bible study is on my agenda today. The Noah's ark story.
I have been assigned the opening portion of the session.
Using a prayer from VU and a story from Zen Judaism which is both wise and funny.

Greetings. It's a dreary day today with little on the agenda. We have to call to arrange car insurance. I'm knitting a baby blanket. I've had a cup of coffee and a cup of tea. I'll have more tea.

We seem to be out of the dreary stuff for now. Cleared up nicely, though it is still cool. It is supposed to be shower-y on the weekend but we shall see. At least it will warm up.

This is the time of year when my dog walker sometimes goes for a bike ride instead of a Lucy walk. We watch various weather stations together, and I like to surprise him by guessing which day he'll pick.
