Glad those who were sick are doing better. Grateful for the universal healthcare we have in Canada.
Thinking about those 4 boys in their canoe. How overconfident they were. No Lifejackets with them-let alone on. They has done that stretch of the river before-but I suspect-with 2 in a boat, calmer currents and warmer water. They did the right thing tough-they realized they were past their skill level-and when they hit the ice they just waited for help. That's what saved them. Imagine if they had pushed off again and/or capsized. If all you do is paddle in easy conditions- a false sense of confidence and skills can develop.

Cards against Humanity- My youngest gave that to my oldest this year.

FYI - it was two guys and two girls in the canoe. You're right they did do the right thing by holding on (no doubt for dear life). I'm glad they were safe and not physically hurt (no frost bite or hypothermia even).

Glad to hear niece is okay, Pr. Jae, and that your sis is on her way home, seeler. You are a good niece, Justme with your concern and care for you uncle and aunt. Hope your friend gets better soon. ChemGal, I continue to be amazed at your strength, determination, and perseverance as you deal with your health issue that does not seem to let up. And you continue to find a way to live with what happens to you.

Tabitha, I've never heard of Cards for Humanity . . . so I had to google it. Yowsa - some of what I read wasn't very nice.

I just get miserable dealing with it. Sitting up always helps, but it takes a while. I had a good nap once it was mostly gone, so I'm back to feeling a bit tired, but pretty good otherwise.

Well, my holiday has come down to earth with a bump. The accident that my hound had late New Year's Eve afternoon turns out to have been a fracture. Poor Lucy is coming home (I'm going to go and get her in an hour or so) with a cast and instructions that she be kept still, which will be a challenge for a lively active hound. Thanks be I live in a bungalow.

Awww poor Lucy. It's so difficult to explain that to them. People get quite creative with the ways to keep their pooches quiet with baby play pens and such - I hope you have similar success.

Poor lucy-when our cat- Willow-had knee surgery we had to keep her from leaping for 6 weeks. We put a large low wire dog crate in the living room. She was in the centre of the action -which she like- but not able to leap.

and just for the record- my young adult boys gave and received Cards against Humanity It is @ Pinga who is playing the game with her youong adult niece and BF-and perhaps young adult sons?

That's right, Tabitha. Beloved, it is a rather rude & crude game. No question about it. Think R-rated Apples to Apples.

My daughter told me about this game -- "It's hilarious mom, but I think you might find it a bit offensive." So protective of her saintly old mom! LOL

Sorry to hear about ongoing health challenges - of our two footed and four footed friends!

We're in for some nasty weather - freezing rain apparently - this weekend. So it might be a quiet indoor weekend ... not that I mind that! I was in to work on Monday and Friday this week, so now with the weekend, might be getting back onto a bit of a normal schedule! It's been a challenge to just think each day about whether or not I needed to set my alarm & go to work.

Just found out son and girlfriend not coming home for weekend. Work prevented him from having Monday off and it didn't make much sense to come Saturday and go home Sunday as weather is also going to be iffy. A bit disappointed but okay. Perhaps they will come later this month.

Actually 4th I guess. There was one on the 29/30th that I hadn't heard about until now.

Pretty quiet in here - how is everyone doing?

On Friday there was a weather warning in every province and territory apparently (I didn't verify but it was on the news). We had just under 20cms of snow at the airport and I think the freezing rain has now turned to plain rain, before flurries and plummeting temperatures. I didn't go to church - I feel bad about that but it didn't seem prudent to be on the roads when police were saying we should cancel non-essential travel. Today is the last day of 24 hour care for my Uncle so I'm not going to go out there either, but will pop over tomorrow morning to see how he is and his hearing aid has broken (It's only two months old - booo) so I'm hoping they can fix it right away.

Trying to finish unpacking from the renos and packing up some Christmas stuff. Mr. Me loves our tree and wants to keep it up another week but I'll pack away some of the other stuff.

My company has gone home, Justme, and I tossed around the idea in mind about undecorating . . . but I really feel like having a lazy day, so I am going to leave it til this week. I usually take my tree down first, and leave up the rest of my house decorations for a few days, and then put them away. It is a big job and I like to break it up when I can.

I went to church today - nothing too exciting - not a big turnout. Cold here . . . sun is shining, but very chilly. Temperature is -25 but -35 with the windchill. Well, it is January.
