All my windows have nets and I don't go out after 9 and before it's completely dark. So far I've just had one mosquito bite.
During the daylight, no mosquitoes at all.

Good news! Just one bite so far!! Screens on all the windows and doors are essential up here!

Ahhh ... a little thunder is rollling in here. I just finished cleaning my garage evestroughs & my rain barrel - so I'm all ready for some much needed rain. We have a huge honeylocust tree in our back yard - and for some reason this year it 'flowered' +++++ - and so now all the little dry bits have been coming down like a blizzard in the back yard! I thought the worst of it was over & swept the deck, cleaned the furniture, even cleaned lots of large leaf plants in the garden that were laden with the stuff. More has come down since, but I think almost done. So the evestrough was totally packed with this stuff & since these drain to my rainbarrel ... well, let's just call it "compost tea" and leave it to your imagine how horrible the water smelled! LOL I know - probably some good nutrients ... if you could get past the odour!! Cleaned out my fountain too - the pump was totally clogged with debris from the tree - and I'm sure the birds were missing their favourite bath & sipping spot in this heat. So now I'm ready ... bring on the rain!!

I remember when I used to visit Edmonton in the summer, and there were clouds of mosquitos every evening - evening especially. I got eaten alive. One year they didn’t spray for them and heading out to Klondike Days was a quite bit of a nuisance. My grandma always insisted on putting vinegar on my bites, so I smelled like vinegar the whole time I was there.

And my relatives’ cabin by the lake...forget about it. There’s no getting away from them.

Here they are around - smaller, sneaky little buggers. Almost no-see-ums. I have 5 or 6 bites in various places just from sitting in the yard for half an hour yesterday while the sprinkler was on. I am applying Benadryl spray. That helps keep the swelling down. And I had a tea tree first aid spray bottle that lasted for a couple of years, that really helped cool the itch better than the benedryl spray, but I used it up.
Here it seems like it really depends on the timing. Right now I barely see any. Was out at a family oriented U-Pick with lots of other stuff for a birthday party on the weekend, no issues. End of May/beginning of June they were bad. With all the rain we've had lately when we finally get hot weather again I expect a bit of an explosion.

As a kid in Winnipeg, it didn't seem to matter when we went out in the summer.

It's more about the thing than the place. Take a drive out to where the fields are and you will see u-pick signs all around

Aaah! I hadn't heard the name. There's a storage company called U-pak! Lol.
Oh, U- pick, great fun. I will be going on Sunday , first day open for strawberries ( about two weeks later this year). $1.50 per box ( quart) and you can eat as many berries as you want while picking. Raspberry upick is usually end of July, but likely later this year as well. Blueberries start end of August well into September.

Wow - that's a GREAT price for strawberries!! Here at the market they are 2 boxes for $12.00!!! Have fun picking.

That's fantastic. There's nothing like that here unless you happen to see some growing wild on the side of a rural road. They otherwise are probably about as much here as they are where Carolla is. I know of people doing that but I never asked how much it was. My parents have a little raspberry "tree" (a bush clipping in a planter pot). It has about 4 ripening raspberries on it right now. Lol. We used to have wild strawberries when I was growing up but they repurposed that spot for a flower bed.

We didn't actually do any picking that day. It was a neat little place. For parties they had a firepit & BBQ area that was reserved with a treehouse, treehouse had electricity - ceiling fan and a light. Slide to go down. Wood & metal roasting sticks are provided.

The local farmers also attract the rsidents of Halifax ( about 1 hr drive away) with corn mazes.
Corn Maze | Noggins Corner Farm Market this is the actual map of it, they have different shapes every year. The maze has little towers in it from where you can see over the corn and also stations with info or quiz questions to answer.
This farm also has a flower. U - Pick. Then there is pumpkin u-picks in the fall. And I always get my Christmas tree at a upick. You pick up a saw at the little cozy warming place and go and cut down your tree, then have it wrapped. Tree cost about $20- 30 , depending on size. Some farmers might offer hot chocolate while you warm up, and the one I go to always has stories to tell.
We also have partially organic farmers who offer weekly boxes. You sign up for the season and they pack for you what is freshly harvested. Those prices are not that cheap, would likely compare to what Carolla is paying.
Carolla, you can have fun with blueberry upick when you come in September.

Good morning, all! No need to go picking coffee beans, that's been done for you-- as well as grinding, brewing, etc. There's water for tea or other beverages, if you wish. Enjoy.

I have been told by my colleague that you only know ice coffee as coffee with ice cubes in it in Canada- yuck.
Mrs Anteater supplying the room with German ice coffee and ice chocolate-
Real vanilla ice cream floating in cold coffee or cocoa topped with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles. ( calory free, as everything in The Room).

Discretionary:

available for use at the discretion of the user.
"rules are inevitably less flexible than a discretionary policy"

synonyms:
optional, non compulsory, voluntary, at one's discretion, up to the individual, nonmandatory, elective, open to choice

In religious establishment ... are such things deviated from ... due to hard confinements? After that you're out ...

Then endless enigmas as puzzle ... whether to chill the coffee or not? Some decisions are not judgements ... until the bitter coffee is experienced!

Put some sweet icis in it!

There is a host beyond such decisions ... outsiders by rules on movement.

Thus I digress ... and the stinking portions come to surface ...

Another warm, muggy day with the added joy of being cloudy with a chance of showers all day. Mercifully, we aren't stuck at home. My cousins are throwing a party for my uncle, who turned 85 last month so we are off to their place this aft.

It's early here. The smell of coffee smells wonderful. That German iced coffee sounds delicious! I missed trying that when I visited Germany six years ago this week. I did try the ice cafe's (I've Anglicized the spelling) where you could get gelato of all flavours. Delicious.
