I remember when I used to visit Edmonton in the summer, and there were clouds of mosquitos every evening - evening especially. I got eaten alive. One year they didn’t spray for them and heading out to Klondike Days was a quite bit of a nuisance. My grandma always insisted on putting vinegar on my bites, so I smelled like vinegar the whole time I was there.
And my relatives’ cabin by the lake...forget about it. There’s no getting away from them.
Here they are around - smaller, sneaky little buggers. Almost no-see-ums. I have 5 or 6 bites in various places just from sitting in the yard for half an hour yesterday while the sprinkler was on. I am applying Benadryl spray. That helps keep the swelling down. And I had a tea tree first aid spray bottle that lasted for a couple of years, that really helped cool the itch better than the benedryl spray, but I used it up.
