That's good to know. Here they push you into English in many Provincial departments.
 
So, I had a night out last night. The boss and his counterpart from another company in the group got the use of a private box at Bud Gardens belonging to the accounting firm that does our audits. They invited some employees from each company out for the second last home game of the London Knights season. The Knights won but barely, only 3-2, which is surprising considering they outshot their opponents, the Flint Firebirds, 57-28. Why the disparity? The FIrebirds' goalie, who used to be a Knight, gave a career-making performance in net, stopping 54 of those 57 shots. He alone was worth the night out. There was also a dramatic overtime goal by London to end the game. Not a huge fan of spectator sports, but I have to concede that it was kind of nice to see a game in person again. I haven't done that since I left Kitchener, I don't think.
 
I think the Junos are coming soon to Bud Gardens aren't they Mendalla? You will no doubt be in paparazzi mode :-)
 
We went to Ikea in Burlington today. We were trying to remember the last time that we went for something, and think it was when we bought some shlving when the boy were little. I think that I also went with my sister & mother a couple of times, and, my spouse picked up furniture for someone else once.

It jut isn't omewhere we head to.
Couldn't believe how busy it was. We also don't regularly shop on Saturdays anymore.

Yep. London is putting on its finery and gearing up for a party. The main show is a week tomorrow, but there are events all week. If you check CBC Music channel on YouTube, they are live-streaming some events and the big show will be on CBC television.
 
I was cross country skiing up the mountain and it snowed the whole time. White out conditions at one point. Slow going and a good legwork out and peaceful for the soul. I was dressed fine and plenty warm enough.Now blueberry tea and Netfix for me!
 
I am prepping for a potluck lunch tomorrow. Theme is green. I have just finished a pot of Lebanese split green pea soup. It is light, filling, and a little spicy. Yum. Also vegan and gluten free.

While Canada is a bilingual country, it has always been my understanding that New Brunswick is the only officially bilingual province. Québec is unilingual French, the other eight provinces are English. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Actually, per that article, Manitoba is officially bilingual. The province was admitted to Confederation as a bilingual province, but tried to become unilingual English. They got shot down in court on a constitutional challenge. Which probably explains @GiancarloZ's experience. They are constitutionally bilingual but not really interested in living up to it.
 
It is a damp morning. Rain woke me up hitting the window last night, but, there is no ice on surfaces thank goodness.

Yes, it is always good to see old friends.

There are a few adjustments to make here but I am appreciating the simpler Preview process. And the coffee cup, among other things. :coffee:
 
Well, it is a rainy day still. Spouse has advised our driveway is pretty icy from the rain on the compressed snow. hoping it keeps getting milder and rainy so that it goes away! Drive down should be ok, but, coming up may require a run at it.
 
Rain has let up here but it's quite windy at the moment.

Knights got beaten by the other team's goalie last night. 47 shots stopped out of 48 taken. 4-1 for their divisional rivals, the Saginaw Spirit. The Knights' offence has been doing their job, as shown by the number of shots they are taking, but keeps running up against metaphorical brick walls.
 
I'm back from seeing my parents. Spent a fair bit of time with my friend yesterday. No taxes were done, Chemguy had issues with how his Mom's RRSPs were handled, if someone knows about how they get rolled over to a spouse please share, but it sounds like it may have been a mistake by the bank, so he'll be calling.
I had a stomach attack before leaving - not really the best timing for it with travelling. I was happy to see I guessed right though, figured I should try the meds. Got sick immediately after infusing and then drastically improved. I'm totally wiped out though. I was kind of in and out while my parents talked to me before we left and I was out most of the drive back. Still feel like I could use a nap.
 
Yes, there will be lots of cold days, but, those reminders of spring are so good.

Friends of my sisters were here for brunch today.
Nine of us sitting around the table, laughing and telling stories.
People all contributed a little bit, and we had a lovely meal.
My sister worked with these people, well, they worked for her back in teh day, and there was lots of catching up, and stories to share.

My oven is broken. I think the bottom element is not working. Can only get it up to 220 degrees. That sucks. It is 71/2 years old. Electric and bought from Sears-because they are everywhere and can service it.
Nope. No Sears in town anymore and actually just no Sears. So tomorrow early I will call for service which I am hoping for Thurs or Fri.
 
As I pulled into the parking lot at the community centre this morning for my walking group, I noticed the parking lot was almost full - and the main vehicle class was large pick-up trucks. Hmmm - March Break hockey tournament I guessed, but SO many trucks seemed unusual. As I approached the doors there were many people standing outside smoking - and most looked Indigenous. Ah yes - I remembered hearing on the local news about the Little Native Hockey League Tournament going on in my city this week. Teams from many reserves & communities come together for 4 days of hockey in two streams - competitive and recreational. Amazing event - 229 teams this year - so about 500 games on the schedule over 4 days - on 17 ice pads.

So after my walk I wandered over to the twin rinks to watch some hockey. Chatted with some interesting folks - one family from nearby Six Nations and one from the Moose Cree team - their settlement located west of Moosonee on James Bay - they drove down! Had a great time and watched some great hockey too! Special morning.
