Well, we hadn't ripped out all our channels for tv when we moved. Today, we cut the cord. Reduced our satellite programs significantly, down to basic. Won't cancel completely due to having satellite internet, and would like something if internet is down. Still, feel good about cancelling it.

My godfather has just written the most comical reply to my rather whiny rant on Facebook about my poor lonely 72 hours, and I can't stop laughing. I'm pretty sure he's serious... "FREE at last. You have been carrying these parasites all these years. None of your good sense has helped them in spite of your continued perseverance. Now you can turn your many talents into helping others who have been dealt a shabby deal in life."

Got a message on FB today that ... a true friend is one who knows you're crazy and still will be seen in public with you ...

Now how more irrational than that can you get with folks that prefer you to be stable and can't deal with the irrational that they preach about ...

Reminds me of Virginia Wolf and some wild rants ... one should go into the swamps to appreciate what could be cultivated from a slewed mind ... no names mentioned ... as it could be sobering!

Might even resemble Beethoven in his attic ...

What a great and wise Godfather you are blessed with. Now - go forth and Do Your Own Thing. Missing music around the place? Put on a CD or something. Throw an Empty Nest Party - with wine. Chat to friends and organise some activities to look forward to - camping? road trip? pig roast? art night with Pot Luck meal and treats? special event to raise money for a special charity?

so today was a gift courtesy of work. Canadian Blind Hockey was in town and all the blind and visually impaired kids from 3 or 4 school divisions were invited. 4 came from my school division and I was available to drive parents and kids. Well in the end I just had another staff member with me. All our sd's kids had at least 2 adults with them. I was free to help with a variety of students and have fun! Blind hockey uses a puck the size of a small plate with ball bearings inside that rattle as you shoot it. One boy was cute-"No I haven't skated before because I can't ski too well" and I said "all the kids here can't see very well". A very good day.

and as a bonus the other staff and I did a quick costco stop on our way home. A great day.

Trying to figure out my week.
There's training at work - good to know more but three 8 hour days in a row could wear me out on good days and Jan/Feb have been quite rough and the weather still isn't cooperating. At least the stuff most pertinent to me is on the first day, but it would be nice if I could manage all of it.
A maybe trip to see my parents this weekend has also turned into I really should go. A good friend is going through some changes and while I had it in mind I would like to see her now I feel more obligated - although that will still be fun.

Heard today that the fundraiser that i helped with this past weekend, and was pretty successful, has had an offer of matching funds. This means that the cause it was done for will have enough funds to proceed. This is kind of amazing. We weren't sure if anyone would show up for it -- who knew "old bags" were so popular!

I was at the butcher today -- there is a good butcher near my house, that also has stands at St. Lawrence Market,
Picked up a few things, but the prime was a prime rib roast, picked out for Sunday night dinner.

The gentleman who checked me out isn't normally on cash, and we chatted a bit as he had helped me select the roast.
I paid, and was putting away my credit card, and then, I thought, wait, what? that should have been a lot more.
Sure enough, after asking him to check, he hadn't charged me for the roast.
He was surprised that I said something -- the roast was close to $100.
I couldn't imagine not telling him, nor could I have ate that roast in clear conscience.

I went to my former Anglican parish yesterday and had lots of delicious pancakes and sausages, and a very good gathering with friends from there.
We don't have Shrove Tuesday in Brazil, which is very unfortunate. I love the idea of it.
Today I had two interviews (and was completely exhausted and cold after wandering in business casual and fine loafers which are super slippery). I'm also having a big one on Friday. Fingers crossed.

I completely understand you. I'm also always double-checking if things are rightly charged.
