Tonight we had a roast chicken on the bbq for dinner. I had forgotten how good they are.
I had wild rice from years ago that we hadn't eaten, and so I cooked up some of it, along with plain rice. again yum.
I also made baked apples -- such a simple dessert, so easy to make. They were so yummy.

So, I made more baked apples for the room. They are fresh out of the oven. There is ice cream in the freezer if you would like some with them.
Also, if you didn't have much dinner, and feel like a sandwich, there is some delightful roast chicken leftover and I think that is some of @Carolla 's bread waiting for a sandwich.
Is the weather good enough to BBQ? I'm moving where you live right now!

BAKED APPLES! Thanks - I love them - and had rather forgotten about them until a friend brought some over recently. Reminds me of childhood. We're going to visit friends next weekend & we're doing Fri dinner meal - might just make some apples for dessert!

And "chicken sandwich, cup of coffee, piece of pie" - making me start humming that old camp song! Earworm for tonight.

Well, this is probably why you should be thinking K-W area.

I'm a bit north east of there, but if you have your bbq in a sheltered area, and you have permanent gas hook-up (not just a propane tank), tons of people BBQ most of the year.

In WPG everything would freeze after 5 minutes. :ROFLMAO:

Even with propane, lots of people here BBQ year round - although it does tend to be avoided during the really cold days.

My husband bbq's in most any weather. Our Christmas turkey is bbq's.
Having said that, it was above freezing yesterday and we had some melt. My husband sat on our deck for a bit and enjoyed the sun. Today, it was ok to bbq. Still just below zero, but, with the sun shining, nice.

Luce, please send me a Wondermail. I'm an English teacher and so want to help you stop all the gobbledygook.

You have baffled yourself with walls of ignore function! Could be your xenophobia ... and thus limitation of alien tongues from Deis past! Stuff you don't wish to know ... a result of orthodoxy and institutionalization when we should learn more ... not less ...

Even Columbus was opposed until the discovery of Inca'n gold ... round about arid humour! One must do the dan'se ...

We're starting off slow today. I suppose that's become the norm. I'm using leftover people fingering weight yarn to make a cap. It will be cheery and soft in the event I need it later. I made a shawl out of the yarn so will also have that. I'm feeling very thankful for friends and family. My stepdaughter is amazing as is my sister. Of course, hubby has been wonderful too. I can't imagine what people who don't have support in these journeys do.

And we figured out that the screeching bird we've been hearing is a thrush.

It feels like a catch up day here. 2 parcels ready to mail and a quilt block sewn. I'm participating in a 52 day block challenge from Canadian quilters Association. Every Tues a new vlock comes out. Finished week 5 today. Next Jan. tI will make a quilt from them.

Jae, your 'jokes' get a bit stale in the Room. Maybe keep them over in the Last Post Thread?

If you'd read carefully, you'd see fruit coffee cake. A coffee cake is a less sweet quick bread. A pineapple upside down cake would qualify, as would a blueberry-lemon loaf. If you're condemning all fruit/flour combos, you'v just left out all of the pies, as well, and I'm not sure you want to go there. Fruit and flour and fat is a pretty common universal dessert combo.

Certainly don't want to discount pies. They're my favorite desserts.
