Very often this is the BEST thing to be. Listening more, being present to others is a true gift - one I'm working on improving in myself.
Absolutely. But don't we so often want to be able to solve the problem for the other person? Advice, especially it it is given too quickly, can be very counterproductive.

Which is why it's key at times to just be the listening ear.

I bought a big pork loin roast, and cup it up into a number of meal-size pieces and put it in the freezer.
Tonight, I made a porkloin roast with dijon mustard & thyme glaze from one of those pieces. It was fine, as in yummy.
There was enough left for another meal -- probably refried rice with pork - so I think I need to rethink the sizes, and be willing to make it smaller.
Also made my son his favourite -- scalloped potatoes -- and for my husband - apple crisp.
Lots of good warm oven cooking, plus of course, raw greens, salad, and cooked veggies.

One store which is normally out of our way had a great deal on sausages, and husband happened to be going right past it when visiting his brother, so, he picked up enough to freeze for 6 meals.

I often think of @Seeler 's cooking thread, and the lessons she gave us all.
I am sure what I am cooking now is much more nutritious than what we ate before.

I am enjoying cooking and baking and slowly am using up material that had been in the house.
Fridge and cupboards have a lot more room when you make things from scratch.

I am also mindful of @BetteTheRed 's mentioning that buying in bulk is not something everyone can do for various reasons. Nor does everyone have the time or capability to use something like the flipp app to keep an eye out for specials in their grocery items.

I've just been super tired out. We haven't gotten the really cold weather that places like MB had this past week. We got hit with snow today though and it's fairly cold and is going to be colder this week.
I saw Chemguy took out borscht and sausages. I'm glad someone is on it. I tried to get some salads going for the week - along with rice noodles. I got as far as cooking up the rice noodles - a few days ago:(

I was also baking today @pinnga. Made a batch of yummy looking (haven't tasted them yet!) sourdough brioche hamburger buns. So it will be burgers tomorrow & off to the freezer with the rest of the batch.

I fried a lovely pizza pie today for lunch. Simply delicious. Enjoying it now with sime thirst quenching Sunny 10.

Anyone have a tried and true recipe for creamy coleslaw?

I like creamy coleslaw but really don’t like the vinegar based options.I rarely get coleslaw because of this since it’s not worth the risk of getting the kind I don’t like. However, I’m planning on doing pulled pork for the Super Bowl and thought I might try my hand at making coleslaw to go with it.

I get my coleslaw at a local fried chicken franchise.

Hmmm - no recipe - I much prefer the 'non creamy' version of coleslaw. You might want to look on epicurious website - my husband (our chef) often gets recipes from there & likes the review comments that follow the recipes, on how people tweak the recipes to their personal taste. Good luck!
(and I have to ask - Pats or Rams?)

The prevalence of vinegar seriously reduces the amount of vegetable I eat. Salads always seem to be doused in it - my most despised food item! What is so difficult about leaving foods unadorned and allowing people to dress them on their plate?

Good point Kay. We tend to do this now with our salads at home - since my personal chef often over-estimates the quantity needed! "Undressed" salad lasts well in the fridge, but dressed salad does not. And for sure - people do have a wide preference for dressings - both taste & quantity. I don't like mine drenched.

This site might help you: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~roseh/recipes/Other/cooks/docID=681.html I don't like creamy coleslaw, but I do like the sweet and sour kind. These are science-based recipes that salt the cabbage so that it doesn't water down the dressing. The sweet and sour one is a bit magical because of the way the sugar drains off the saltiness.

@Greywolf336 - i am with you and am a fan of the creamy coleslaw. I used to make it all the time, but, can't figure out from which recipe book! I think it might be my 'eating more with less". If you want that reciple, though unconfirmed as to goodness, i can send it to you.

*tagged the wrong person at first.

Sure @Pinga I’ll take the recipe! I’ll also take a look at the website @Carolla thanks!

And to answer the other question, New England Patriots all the way! My boyfriend and I are huge fans, I’ll be wearing my pjs and jersey tomorrow!

Brr The cold air is coming and our tfurnace is not working. At first we thought it was the thermostat but no.. Question is do we pay big $ and get someone out tomorrow or wait until Mon? We do have a gas fireplace and 1 ceramic heater.

Ours shut down twice, it was that the air intake had frozen over. Any chance you have a nest built in it, or there is snow blocking it?
