Haha between pulling carrots and Thanksgiving it sounds like my nephew has had a great time here. For Thanksgiving he kept saying that 'this is Auntie & Uncle's house'. My sister wants to make plans soon because he keeps talking about us

Dad seems to be getting injured more often lately. It is a function of his mind not working as well.
He will sit down between two chairs, instead of in the chair.
He spilled a cup of hot coffee on himself at dinner.

I hope that he can stay in this care area until he passes. The staff do a good job of monitoring him, but, also allowing him the freedom to "do".

Getting old isn't easy.

Oh dear pinga - had been thinking we hadn't heard about him a while ... sending hugs for him to be stable at least until you get yourself settled in your new place. Yup - that getting old is a challenge.

So, I've now moved into a mod role (they call it a "forum facilitator") on my writing board. Their forums are rather quiet save for some of the game threads so we're trying to liven things up. I have opened up a thread, somewhat inspired by this one, called the coffee house. It's already the most active thread outside the games forum.

Blah, that whole saying if you want something done properly?
Can I just be given the ability to order drugs myself?
I was given a prescription almost 2 months ago. One pharmacy was compounding something under their own special name but no longer make it. Shopper',s my main pharmacy has the written prescription but were lazy stating no one makes it when asked to get it made elsewhere - someone there was just lazy and going by statement on the file about the original compounding pharmacy and because of what she put in they wouldn't call around and ask. Went to a compounding pharmacy I use for other things - when I told them what was in it they can make it - but need a real prescription, not something under some made up name.

Called doctor's office asking them to fax it. It has taken them weeks just to figure out what is in it (I didn't have the specific percentage, but know the components and had guessed with Shopper's based on literature of what has been used - turns out I was correct). Instead of faxing over a prescription they emailed the info of what was in it to me.

Some days I feel like shaking someone and asking them to sort out the government run systems. Health, Education, Social Services, Pension, Disability, Unemployment.....all full of stupid rules, delays, buck passing.

I just find it especially frustrating as I am more than capable of measurimg the stuff out myself and mixing it - but only a pharmacist is allowed to do that when being used medicinally for a person.

I still have to find out if I can buy my epilepsy meds here in Korea. I left with a good supply of them from Canada, but then...? In some countries, the stuff is only available through veterinarians.

Better look into that while you still have a decent supply! That's not a med you want to go without.

Should have seen our pay deposited into our account this morning, but it's a no show. Got an email, sounds like it should show up soon. This is the 2nd time I've had this happen with a paycheque - 2 different companies. It sounds like in both cases the problem was something to do with communication with the companies and the financial institutions, a corrupted file in the first case.
I'm just curious if this has happened to anyone else - everyone's pay being delayed due to information not transferring properly. I've never heard of it happening.
Payroll system issues seem to be more common, I know universities often screw stuff up.
I do find it interesting in how the companies handle it differently. First one treated it like a major thing and there were promises to cover things like bank fees related to overdraft. Timeframe is expected to be the same here, but it seems to be more relaxed. The first company was much smaller though.

ChemGal - hopefully they haven't transitioned to the Phoenix system the federal government is using!!

It's not something I experienced over my career.

Nope, nothing like that. They expect anyone with a major financial institution to get paid today, smaller ones might take an extra day. Sounds like something very similar before although I haven't heard the specific reason. Sometimes things just don't transfer (internet glitch) or the files don't work or whatever.
The university pay issues were chronic, I expect this to just be a one-off, just kind of funny this has happened to me twice in just slightly over 10 years.

There is a baking dish on the stove with hot apple crisp. Enough for everyone.
Also, if you missed dinner, there is chicken left --and buns in the cupboard -- make yourself a sandwich.
(oh, and wine & coffee are in the neverending containers.

enjoy
