At least you were able to get home safely Pinga. I'm drinking red tea right now, I'll probably have a drink post-IV. Not sure which, red wine in the basement and a Strongbow in the fridge. Virtually, how about Menage a Trois? Not super expensive, but expensive enough that I don't buy it to drink at home when it's just Chemguy and me. I usually stick to the sales and stuff that's under $8 :)

I know its possible to check pages etc.

Actually, one of the things that I've found difficult in getting used to with ebooks is that page count is now kind of meaningless. I mean, a 400 page book can suddenly turn into a 300 or 600 page book just because you changed the font size or switched from your 6" reader to your 10" tablet. If you use the same font and size with all your books and only use one device, then I guess pages may still be comparable but it is still a bit more fluid than hard copy.

Listening to my husband snoring on the loveseat and have my oldestson sound asleep on the couch with his feet on my lap. Yup, must be 10pm.

Yikes! Super rolly veins today. Was definitely a 2 person day. Freaks me out, but I held it together enough to hold the vein in place enough so that Chemguy could actually get into it instead of push it around. Once we were all set, and he had done a little bit of pushing the med in I had to have the garbage moved by me, just in case as I was hit more by nausea this time around then the lightheadedness. Luckily it didn't last too long.
lol I built up a sweat twice today - once from exercise and once cuz of the IV.

Fun, sort of break day for me at work today. A gal working on her PhD on how kids learn to drive power wheelchairs was out to see 4 kids in my school district. I accompanied her for her visits and assessments of kids and parent questionaires. Kind of fun not being responsible and being proud of how well these students drive. (I was responsible for helping 2 of them learn to drive in the past). A lovely change of pace for me-and she was thrilled as it's unusual for her to get to 4 kids in a day. It was my scheduling. I knew who arrived early and who didn't mind being pulled from class-and who arrived late to school and who hated being pulled from class.
A worthwhile day.

I'm in for the game. What are we playing? I usually catch on to a new game pretty quickly.
And a glass of wine.

As for dogs for older people - definitely! As long as someone is able to look after it if the senior becomes too handicapped to take it for walks, clean up after it - or too forgetful to be relied upon for feeding and care. Then a caregiver is probably visiting each day and might add these chores to their job description (my sister worked for Blue Shield and one of her clients with MS had a cat; my sister fed it and cleaned the liter box each morning when she dropped in for two hours to help with morning routines of shower, getting dressed, breakfast for the client). Failing that perhaps a teenager could drop in after school and take the dog for a run. So, if a senior is an animal lover, please consider a dog.

That said, Seelerman and I have decided against getting another animal. We're presently enjoying our grandcat's extended visit.

My Book Launch last evening went well. I'll try to post some pictures on Facebook. (and knowledgeable people might transfer them over to here).
I'm beginning to hear positive feed-back from people who have read it. One woman bought one copy, read it, and bought five more for Christmas gifts. That's high praise!

Enjoyed the updates when I read this thread.

Well done Seeler - could you send me your address (in private) and how much a book would cost so I can buy one from you?

I've got a Christmas party tonight. I'm feeling pretty sore from some new exercises yesterday. Hopefully popping a couples of NSAIDs throughout the day will prevent the physical stress from getting bad enough to be a trigger.

I was thinking we could maybe get the tree up this weekend. Since we have furniture in the living room it will have to go in a new location. Chemguy can have a bit of an attitude when it comes to putting in any effort for any holiday, although some of it is just a facade. He's saying not until Dec 1. I'd like it fully decorated by then, and a little bit at a time is the pace I need to stick with. I think setting it up, can't recall if we left the lights on or not, is enough for one day.

No didn't see that - was it today? I was just knitting & watching an episode of Grays Anatomy tonight ... a bit of welcome mindlessness :)

I watched it on Wednesday . . . it is one of the few shows on t.v. that i actually make a point of watching. That, and Big Bang Theory.

Not enough :( Chemguy left earlier than their 'early dismissal' to come help me with the IV. Many people didn't even bothering going to work, so his boss didn't care even though he didn't say why. I enjoyed the party, but had a second attack later which we treated at home and then I fell asleep.

Hope people are having a good day. Life is pretty good here. Bumped into a highschool friend. Made me realize how fortunate that i am. He is facing unemployment, has a mortgage, no savings, small pension and has few prospects.
My choices have been boring but resulted in secure future.
Such different worlds

Glad to hear you got out to have some fun at the party ChemGal.

Great news about your book launch seeler!

I had a great time out at euchre last night ... what a lot of loud laughing we do!! It's a monthly injection!! Tonight we are off to neighbours for our annual Daffy Duck Dinner - it's been a November tradition for us for probably 25 years now. The men do all the cooking. Our son & his gf are joining us to keep the intergenerational tradition - so that's particularly nice.

Ok, you have encouraged me to seek out fellow euchre players. It is cheaper than a night out at a pub, and therefore, allows more to participate. Thanks for the prod by reminding me how much fun you have.

@Carolla - what is a "Daffy Duck Dinner"?

Well Beloved, we call it the Daffy Duck Dinner - because the very first year, the guys decided to have an 'exotic' menu & roasted a duck. Now, I don't know if you've ever made duck - but they had not. And the internet was not around to look up youtube videos etc. Just the old cookbooks to give the "roast at this temperature for this long" sort of instruction. So, as we were all gathered together awaiting a delicious meal - four adults & three kids - the guys opened the oven door and the house immediately filled with smoke! We raced to every window & door to throw them open - kids were pretty bewildered! So the cartoon element of the scene, combined with duck in the oven - the name Daffy Duck Dinner was hatched. Some years it has been the "Porky Pig Dinner" and this year it was really the "Little Bo Peep" dinner, as we had lamb :-) The kids used to participate by making themed placemats & placecards for everyone. So now it is our tradition that every Novemeber, the guys still prepare a wonderful feast for us all - although our respective daughters are both now in Whistler. So it was great to have our son & his gf with us this year. Occasionally we have invited other 'special guests' to join in, as our numbers have dwindled. I don't think we've ever had duck again! So there you go ... that's the story :)

I am the only member of my family who has never played the game. My brothers both played with friends in high school (and maybe still do), Dad and his wife were in a euchre club (met some of the other players at the visitation last week), but I have never, ever, played euchre.

Sounds like an awful lot of fun going on at those dinners, Carolla.

I have not ever played Euchre either, Mendalla . . .
