I have been overly social for the whole month of July. Now that might seem like a strange thing to say, but...I am craving quiet, think, no interaction with others time. I grab a half hour here and there, but I think I need a lot more. Today I go to a family reunion...Yet another time where I will see and talk to people I care about...but the endless socializing is wearing me out. I imagine there will come a day when I will look back at this particular problem with envy.
 
I bought my new computer. I bought an HP at Costco. I also bought Microsoft Word at the Dragon voice recognition.
I am a difficult time getting started with Dragon voice. This is my first attempt at dictation. I don't know how I will transfer it to wondercafe. If you are reading this I obviously figured it out.
I also have to get used to using Microsoft Word. I have always used WordPerfect but I understand it is outdated. Everybody tells me I will like Microsoft Word when I get used to it. I hope so.

I use Word but that's because every computer I use has it. Not sure it'd be my first choice if I was bashing together some kit for personal use, though.

If this is done using Dragon, I'm impressed. Seems to be working pretty well for you. Did you do much editing or is this right out of the dictation?
 
Only a bit of editing and I did it manually. I will have to spend more time on the tutorial before I can edit dictation. Now I just hope I can find it and open it when I try again tomorrow/ But right now I;m happy.
 
We have to get a new computer to replace the elderly HP. I'm thinking of getting something either convertible or a fancier tablet.
 
Great to hear you've landed a new computer Seeler! Some learning - but it's good for us right? At least that's what I keep telling myself!!

At General Council there was closed captioning on the video screen most of the time. Apparently being done by a company in Calgary. Obviously voice to text - and most of the time it worked well. Had some interesting glitches tho that their editor missed - for example "disciples" came up as "decibels" - kinda close in sound I guess, but made us giggle. Guess their online dictionary wasn't quite set up for 'church words' :-)
 
Waiting for rain ... it's so dry and hot here. I keep checking the weather radar map - seems like there is lots of rain in the area, but it's going around my neighbourhood! I gardened for a few hours over at the church today - lots of tidy up needed, but the soil is just SO dry. I'm resisting watering ...
 
It is really raining here. The lake has returned around the trailer. The dog is most unhappy. Beaverlodge, Alberta got flooded. Someone even drove a motorboat beside the highway there. Hopefully that's all the flooding that will happen.

We picked 33 litres of blueberries in Wawa on Wednesday. Weather report called for rain and a thunderstorm....But we lucked out. No rain, and cool, cloudy weather, perfect for picking. This is an annual trip for us. The berries were very nice, not dried up and small like the ones around here.
 
Sounds like a lovely day @Nancy Wawa is an area I'd like to explore a little more. We stayed at the KOA there last summer and enjoyed our short stay.
 
Back after my travels, my neiece's wedding, helping parents down size, general council and a dealy or 2 on flight home. Some highlights were meeting Rev. Matt (with Mr and Mrs spriritbear) by attending a Sean McCann concert in his church/concert hall. GC43-and my roomie was Carolla, time with cousins, seeing "Come from Away" or and "flying" at "ifly" a vertical windtunnel where the air holds you up.
 
Thanks for the congrats friends, but actually things are not going well. For the last few days it is not responding. I get a message at the top of the page: ‘Dragon’s microphone is off; you can press its hotkey or click its icon to turn it on.’

I don’t even know what its hotkey is. I presume its icon is the little picture of a microphone on the dragon bar. According to the tutorial I worked through on my first day it should be red for off, green for on. Right now it is blue and says ‘listening’ but if it is listening it is not responding. Press it and it is still blue but says ‘sleeping’.

So I just try pushing buttons on the keyboard or using the mouse to try different things on the screen. I’m probably messing it up completely.

This morning, even though it still gave the message at the top of the page, it did respond to my voice and printed a two sentence reply to a post on WC2. A lot more mistakes than in my posts a few days ago but at least something. Now when I try to reply to a different post – nothing.

Seelerboy set it up for me, but he’s gone back to Korea.

Where can I get help? To whom do I turn. (Prayer doesn’t seem to help. I’ve used some religious words )

We bought Dragon on line so we can’t go back to the store and ask the sales staff.

Mandela thanks. I wasted two days on something that took you a moment I really appreciate your help I will try to write a prayer for the service tomorrow thanks again.
For some reason Dragon is not putting in punctuation. A few days ago it did. No worries; I can punctuate manually for now.
