Well my Friday afternoon took a turn!

Some well meaning but misinformed person brought a little fawn into my work. They thought she was abandoned by her mom and didn’t know what to do with her. Watched the cute little thing wander around while the parks guys figured out what to do.

She has been taken back where she was found in hopes that mom still comes back. If she doesn’t, the rescue centre they contacted will pick her up. Apparently they could tell by her ears that she had been fed within the last few hours and should be good to wait for mom for a while.

Aww. What kind of work do you do?

There are so many deer around here, everywhere, the city now considers them pests and nobody does anything with them. There was a rabbit problem a few years ago - a domestic rabbit had bred with a wild rabbit and there were hybrid rabbits everywhere. There was a rabbit cull to the horror of several university students (the rabbits were especially concentrated on campus). Now wild rabbits are back but the deer are a larger (because they are large) problem. Although I don’t mind them at all. Gardeners do. They eat all the bloomin’ flowers. Literally.

*sigh* I don't get it, if that misinformed how does one even know how to then transport it safely?
Why not just note the location and call?

Kinda fun you got to see her though!
That what I thought too. I enjoyed seeing her but hope mom comes back!

I work a few different positions in a couple different Town departments, none of which have to do with animals! But, the one I am at today is in the same building as the town’s parks and public works departments which is in charge of animal control.

Yesterday when I got off the bus on my way home, there was a dead black rabbit lying there on the grass. It must have been there for some time as it was covered with flies.

Do you know how little things can add up and before yo know it, you are wondering where lightning will hit next.

One company has been a wee bit crazy this past month, resulting in excess hours. I know that I am playing it on the edge, as are others, so, you know, you get klutzy if tired.

i decided to go out for a burger and sundae at a famous place here for custard. I was sitting in the car, eating my sundae, when it flipped out of my hand and landed upside down on my lap, after sliding off my phone.
The next day my phone wouldn't work, well part of it, as the icr cream had gotten into the slider. d'oh. and the volume buttons were stuck down.
There I was in my car, trying to find kleenex to clean it all up. yuck. glad i had put a cloth on the seat before leaving on this trip.

Anyhow, thankfully last night I had a great long sleep, and felt quite well rested today.
I have had my breakfast made wrong 3 out of 4 days this week. That could be considred bad or frustrating. This morning, when the yolk was running off the plate of my "over hard " eggs, which I had expressly ordered and stated they were to be hard, very hard, extra hard, dead to the staff, and they still came out that runny, i was like...ok, i have to show them. So, i went up nicely, showed the staff, who said "oooh, that isn't hard". We smiled, and chatted. Next thing you know i have a new breakfast, a coupon for a free dinner in the restaurant. When I went to the desk to ask if the date could be adjusted or if I could hve points instead, she was like, oooh, dont' worry about the date, and we'll give you points anyhow. It was kind of them.

So, work was busy, but we went out for a celebratory lunch today, and that was good. Just three of us to have a laugh, tell a story, and get through some crap. It was good.
I then got lost trying to get into the office due to construction in the parking lot. So was standing there frustrated when....I look up and a wonderful woman that I know was walking by. So got caught up, got to say hi, and get directions.

Saw a few people, worked late, and was headed back to the hotel which was an hour away. Had an uneventful drive.
Was within 3 blocks of the hotel, when a car cut in front of me, and I had to slam on the brakes. The road was wet. The car kind of shimmied.
Then my exhaust started making a lot of noise. crap.
I am on the 6am ferry tomorrow. Drove to the hotel. My husband is asleep so decided to ask my facebook friends. My nephew responded with what it likely is, and outcome.

I stood outside waiting for AAA and had a wonderful talk with the woman who...you guessed it..made my eggs and gave me the free coupon.
She filled me in on how housekeeping works at the hotel, and the different ways they pay staff. we talked about common-law marriage, insurance, and trying new jobs -- and the murder rate in Milwaukee.

Through the conversation she found out that i was leaving for the ferry at 5am if my car was ok to drive, and she said no problem, i will make you breakfast -- breakfast doesn't start until at least 6:30.

So, you know, i will likely get home tomorrow , I made a new acquaintance, and someone to smile with whilst on the road.
Nothing is broke that can't be fixed..and if can't be fixed, it can be replaced.

sometimes, you just have to smile at life...and when you get a lemon...make lemonade.

oh, and you know, i didn't need that sundae, and it wasn't that good. I was disappointed. it had been pre-made and was in the freezer -- say what? i know, right. Not the straweberry shortcake sundae that i was thinking..and who uses cookies for shortcake!
If you want to see the place that I am referring to..it is Kopps. Flavor Forecast | Kopp's Frozen Custard

people plan their holidays around the flavor forecast.

Better stick to their custard it sounds like :)

Cookies for shortcake? That is a new one. In my family, we've always made shortcake with biscuit.

Hey Kimmio - glad the epi harshed your buzz :nerd: Kidding aside - hope you're feeling better today. How's that knee coming along? Will you soon be able to get back to work?
Thanks. I was full of energy Thurs night, then I was tired all day Friday. Also, probably a bit out of synch from the Benadryl. Napped, and now I am awake. I’ve been working for a few weeks now. Not too many shifts. 3 or 4 days/ week, 4-6 hr shifts. I work tomorrow morning, though, so I hope I get to sleep soon. I feel fine. The whelt disappeared but it’s back. Looks like a spider bite.

Still haven’t found a place but I will be getting a break (from this house) doing some house/ pet sitting - which includes a rabbit, actually :) for a friend/ neighbour for a few weeks in July. I can stay overnight and hang out there whenever I want. The rental situation is really dismal here. I was complaining two months ago...you should see it now! But by August it should get a bit better, price-wise. I almost took a place but turned it down, was apprehensive for a few reasons and went with my gut - a few weeks ago. If I am going to sign a long term lease, which is my goal, I want it to be an adequate place and not be stuck in a bad situation. So, July will give me some space to do what I need to do, with some pressure off.

@Nancy that reminds me, how’s the spider bite? I hope it wasn’t an exotic one that bit you.

Good to hear, Kimmio. The spider bite, thankfully, was from a puny non-poisonous, Canadian spider. It may have even have fallen on me from a tree, as I walked to the store. So, now my complaint is my ever-present aches and pains, which I think I am finally ready to admit to and I will call the doctor. Yesterday, I worked our book sale (cheap books, but lots went, and we have made about $500 so far; another whole day awaits). Anyway...pop an Aleve and off to work I go!

Can't be done different or undone ... for the lemonade might be OJ and well that should be confined ... but some conservatives will set him loose to prove toughness on crime ... causes some to withdraw ... tis all the "drew in" words ... past being druid!

Some people can't stand irregular communes ... they despise their neighbours despite the command ... thus unchristian thoughts ... that go down in history like oligarchs in free fall ... they can't be restricted ... word reigns in the subtleties .. even if you do not understand nor love Eyore own Don Quies when out ... has the ass is exposed ... tight myths of cover-up or coven antes ... formerly rye ... bear lye Jae buoyed! Virtue is far away ... lies are the thing today ... even POTUS lies about where and who he rests with ... a conservative hero that believes no one knows ... isn't that satyr ... or the making thereof?

In eternal circumstance one may have to relate to some really odd stuff ... it fills esoteric spot ... unless you feel you are beyond that ... eternal that is ... later it may go on a stretch ... as being excluded at present ...

Well darn - I didn't win the lottery last night! I thought that would be a nice way to begin retirement - LOL! But we did have a street sale today & we got rid of almost all our stuff - so that's a big win :-) Made just a tad less than a million bucks - but hey - it's all money in the bank!! We will cap the day off with a street pot-luck BBQ at one of the neighbours & then our son & gf are dropping by for cake & wine to celebrate my birthday & our wedding anniversary :-) So all in all - an excellent day!!

Happy Retirement, Anniversary and Birthday!

Congratulations on your street sale, Carolla.
What is in store for next week?
Heading up to Collingwood for a few days :-) Meeting up with some friends who moved to Wasaga Beach - for lunch & walk in the country or on the beach. Then over to friends in Collingwood for a couple of days to help them with some gardening & work in their home - they moved a few months ago & are still getting settled. No doubt some good food, lots of excellent conversation, a little wine & some time in the hot tub too! On the way home I'd like to stop in at Not So Hollow Farm - in the Mulmur Hills - to maybe find a nice native plant for my garden ... I'm liking the summer so far!!

What about you pinga - are you home for a bit?

No. My commitment to the consultancy is 3 yr to build, and i am ending year 1. I do plan to relax some, but, anticipate it being a busy summer.

Chemguy has a cold. I think I'm getting it, was a little achy yesterday and super tired and achy today. He looks way sicker than me yet still seems to have more energy. There was also a pretty big weather change, heat warning for a few days and then thunderstorm predicted yesterday although we weren't hit - rain and 7C right now. I've been coughing a tiny bit, normally nothing to even notice, but with him sounding pretty horrible I think this is the start :(
After being away I took a week fairly relaxed, I was hoping to get back into things, back to the gym which I haven't been to for a while, etc. Looks like that might need to wait a week. Nephew's first birthday party is next weekend, hopefully I'll be over the worst of it.

Oh, I just looked at a calendar for an event. I have a whole extra week! Dates got so messed up in my head with being away, especially as it fell with a date change and I wasn't sure when/how I was getting back before I left.

I also spent all of Friday and Saturday thinking today was Father's Day. Then I forgot all about it today, no calls made. Chemguy thought I was right on it being this weekend too and didn't think to call either. Haha great team we are. Yay for an extra week!

Any suggestions for a 1st birthday present? It's hard as they have so many toys. Experience gifts at that age are also hard because of nap times.

Kimmio, I forgot to ask. We're the paramedics cute like the handsome good Samaritan a while back.
Well, there was one guy about ten years older, and one about ten years younger. They were both very friendly. The older one I suppose was a silver fox! Some of you might think so. He had a Tom Selleck type moustache - old school Marlborough man sort - not really my type, but he was happy to “take a pretty young lady’s arm”, to walk me to the vehicle (Which didn’t offend me in the slightest. It was just harmless flattery. He was trying to keep me in good cheer and calm, anyway) - I was a bit unsteady and overwhelmed at how fast it all happened. They wanted me to leave my walker... they really did hurry me out the door! No dilly dallying! They were very nice.

Me neither. We did an office pool and I chipped in.

Happy retirement! Sounds like it’s off to a good start.
