Finally! Today! Seelerman and I drove across the border to Maine and picked up my novel. No problems. I now have five boxes (200) books in my livingroom. Some quick calculations of how much my outlay was and I came up with a selling price of $15. The paper is good quality - the printing is sharp and easy to read. They look good.
 
Congratulations, Seeler! Must feel like such an accomplishment to see the physical manifestation of all your work!

Seeler-hardcover or paperback? How exciting

I was back at work-but shortened my day. I ended up popping by the walkin clinic at end of day to get my inhaler prescription refilled. Good news is my lungs sounded great when doctor listened. She checked her e notes and commented I'd seen her about 1 year ago for same problem. Perhaps it is seasonal as well.

Anyhow my inhaler makes it easier to breathe and helps me shake the last of this cold.

I'm sorry but, despite my request, they will not be available on Amazon.ca The publisher admitted that they've had many requests from Canadian writers and from Canadians wishing to buy their books, but as of now they are only available from Amazon.com
You can check the price of shipping from Amazon.com by starting to place an order, when you get to the check-out they will calculate the total cost of your order including shipping. Then, if you wish to have time to think it over, you can simply log-out without placing the order.
I will be mailing two books to my sisters at separate addresses in Ontario in the next few days. I will let you know how much it is for me to ship to Ontario and that might give us all an idea of how much it might be to other places.

Meanwhile, today I have book club at my church tonight. We will be discussing Indian Horse by Richard Wagamese - an excellent book.
I will have a few copies of my book with me as people have been waiting for it to become available.
 
Still excited for you Seeler - but puzzled that Amazon.ca are refusing to sell Canadian books. To me that seems a bit short sighted. Most businesses are scrabbling for appealing items to sell and customers to buy them. Should we order from Amazon or order from you?

I read Indian Horse a while back and found it fascinating, challenging, thought provoking and well written.

I have been wanting to get this from the library since I saw it on the Canada Reads list. Your recommendation has pushed it to the top of my list. Right now I'm reading The Inconvenient Indian by Thomas King. He is a very good writer.
 
Awaiting the amtrak in mystic on my way back to Boston to fly home. It will be a day of planes, trains, buses, automobiles and vans. Looking forward to spending time with my family after a nice time away with sister-in-law and of course the conference before
 
A high school acquaintance of mine has just released a book on depression and young men (although it applies to anybody apparently). He published it like Seeler did and Amazon will only sell it on the .com site. If I understand some of the posts I have seen it has to do with a logistics issue and I think a regulatory one as well. It really sucks because it is just another obstacle for Canadian content. *sigh*

Congrats Seeler! I can't imagine how awesome it must feel to see, touch and smell your books :)
 
Home again. Good to be home. Downloaded software to fix one sons computer. Gave a noogie to youngest son (ok, a gentle one), husband is asleep on the couch "watching the game"
 
Ugh, long day, but accomplished a fair bit.
Saw the ENT, vocal chords look good, nasal polyp was small enough so that he could see the vocal chords. Fasting blood test done - fasting always makes me feel horrible. Checked out some exercise stuff, still a little confused. The more I look into/ask about things, the narrower my options get. Bought some nice lamps, our house is slowly become less student-stuff filled. Our great room needs some art, and one day the open concept really needs patching and repainting, but now it looks pretty good. Last owners were stupid about tvs, the screw holes in the wall are HUGE. Our tv hides some, right now we have the cable box to hide the rest, before patching I think art will be a great placeholder (and cablebox can go behind Chemguy's big fishtank stand).

Bought a pumpkin, hoping I can convince Chemguy to help me carve it, I don't trust myself with sharp things when some force is needed. Precision - ok as long as no force. I managed to have dinner ready as he walked in the door - sometime after 8pm. He's been busy with work, he'll be leaving early tomorrow. Hopefully once a meeting is over tomorrow he won't be working long hours for the rest of the week.
 
Will do, taking a moment to sit down in between the stirrings...they are for a United Way bake sale tomorrow.
