Yes, looks like shovelling is going to be a major part of my day today. Could barely get back door open for Lucy (now, mind you, those steps didn't get a "pre-shovel" after church like the front did), and looks like there's a solid 4" on the car and snowing heavily at present. Very winter wonderland-ish.

Merry Christmas, all. Yes, a fire feels better than a furnace...

and I made a tree of cinnamon buns for my family. Here's another tree for wondercafe. You can see the cherries I used as "ornaments".

It was funny driving between London and Kitchener today. Little pockets of squall activity in some areas, then the road almost clear in others.

Got home about 9 and looks like we didn't get much here after the squall this afternoon. Maybe another cm if that. I'd say our 24 hour total, including last night and the squalls today might hit 10cm. Little M is doing a quick snow clearing job.

The younger of my two nephews works in construction (heavy equipment operator) and the company he works for does snow clearing in winter. He has to report for work at 2am tomorrow to clear drives and walks for commercial clients of theirs. Give me a new appreciation for the guys who do this stuff.

Good morning on a beautiful, but chilly, Boxing Day morning. The sun will soon be up and shining brightly on the new-fallen snow. All is silent, but before long we should hear the roar of snowblowers.
'Winter storm conditiions' here yesterday. Let's be honest - it was blizzard conditions.
The day started off nicely, with snow flurries as we drove out to Seelergirl's for gift opening and brunch. By then it was snowing as we drove home for a break (and to pick up our contributions for ddinner and a friend who would be joining us. By 3:00 oclock when we set out again it was heavy snow and wind. Poor visibility. I considered cancelling. But with 4-wheel drive and an experienced driver (Seelerman was a trucker - then a taxi-driveer) we had no real problems. Drove slow - as did the othere slight traffic on the roads. Coming home in the early evening - the storm had almost blew itself out - I caught a glimpse of the moon. Main roads plowed. Fortunately ours wasn't, so with a bit of a rush we were able to get up the incline of our driveway and near the door. Waded in.
All in all, we had a good Christmas. My friend, who would have been alone with a TV dinner, expressed her appreciation (and admiration for Seelerman's driving - her little car wouldn't have made it more than a block). Many people were stranded - unable to join family or friends. I haven't heard if there were many accidents - I doubt it. People eitheer stayed put or drove slow and carefully.
Now today - as the sun gets up Seelerman will be out blowing out the driveway - and that big pile of snow at the end where the street plow went through in the night.

Good you were able to do your Christmas visits despite storm, Seeler. Here in mainland NS we had snow and ice pellets and then a whole lot of rain, ending in a bit of snow again. During the 20 minutes of sunshine I scraped the ice off my and the neighbours driveway, then drove to my friends home. We have been joining them for Christmas for 19 years now, ever since we came to Canada. She was suggesting that next Chrismas we are going to do a trivia about the years.
Part of the traditions it watch Christmas vacation together. Drive home was just at the right time- before the rain turned to ice.

Almost 9am here.

We had a quiet day yesterday. Simple Christmas meal. Think oldest son was surprised

Today we will go to a wild and crazy Christmas at my sil's

It is beautiful here, with just enough snow

Lovely and quiet day yesterday. The 3 of us received a bounty of gifts and stockings. Youngest did not feel up to our usual skate on the trail up the mountian so we went on an hour hike. Oldest finsihed his first quilt top, and I sewed up some more luggage tags, for myself and gifts. Spoke with my parents and both my isisters. Low key but ok day.

We had a busy & fun time with family & friends. Today is ahhhhh ..... "do nothing day". Well, I did do some tidy-up, a bit of reading, now catching up on news by the fire. Lots of snow fell here on Xmas eve, and more yesterday - so there was some outdoor work to do as well - big thanks to my mate for dressing warmly & taking on those tasks.

I'll join you in some tea :-) I've put some chocolate on the table here - please help yourself! Santa delivered an abundance of it to me this year!! What movie shall we watch this afternoon? (if we can stay awake).

I have been working on a cat tree with several levels all long weekend. Making it from sratch without plans. Hope is that the cat will love it and use it- instead of my new furniture. Well, never give up hope....
It's not done yet, but the features are all planned now. Have to get some more hardware tomorrow.

My brother bought one cheap from a co-worker whose cat didn't use it. One of his cats loves it. Spent most of the time we were there yesterday on it. Hope your kitty takes to it.

I think she will. She already has used up a few of her lives jumping of the 7 ft wardrobe and falling off similar height.
