Eggnog was available really early this year. I asked Chemguy to buy me some and he wouldn't! Finally picked some up, I don't know if lactaid is enough though. I'm going to see the holiday train tomorrow. It's not actually stopping in the city, so will wait until I'm home tomorrow I guess so I don't have to bother her for extra bathroom stops.

At the end of my street,, the train stops. All lit up and with entertainment. It is a big attraction. It is 4 houses away.
Grinches might refer to it as the day our neighbourhood becomes a parking lot.

Hmmm - that eggnog is good in the morning (without rum at this time of day).
I'd never heard of the Holiday Train, but that isn't surprising because when I checked Pinga's connection I see that it doesn't come to the East but stops somewhere around Montreal. Oh well, we're used to being left out (and this city no longer has railway tracks). We'll just have to keep contributing the old fashion way -- through the food bank, the churches, various charities.
The Holiday Train does look attractive though. Enjoy!

London visit was a couple weeks ago and they parked it at the Richmond crossing. Too bad I didn't know. Jim and Devin Cuddy are on board, aka lead singer of Blue Rodeo and chip off the block son.

The train doesn't end in montral.
It heads down into the US
The train is part of our lives. Everyone in our city hears the toots on a daily basis. Those who live close feel their windows rattle as it speeds through town. We stop for training crossings. Our kids learn train safety.
The train, once a year, turns into a party place. Picking up food for food banks.as it winds it's way

I've actually never gone to an event for it before. I have seen it in passing.
It comes to this city, but only every other year.
Since the 2 year old is all into 'Choo Choos' I suggested to my sister that she makes the approx 1.5 trip (less from my place). I actually suggested a town a little bit closer, but we're going further out as it won't clash with dinner time.
Kids can get one doing fun stuff! Fingers crossed for no meltdowns as we don't actually get to go on the train.
I have heard of a town that does a whole Polar Express experience, but that's pricey! Maybe my parents can gift that once the kids are a bit older.

Today went pretty well for a toddler with no nap. Unfortunately picture taking opportunities did not. Super big smiles when the train pulled in, and I was tightly holding onto him. Big tears about not being able to get on the train, luckily the direction we parked we went the opposite from the crowd as they went to see the music (we stuck away from it) big smiles in the car waving bye to the train. Tons of blabbing about the train on the way home.
So overall it was worth going (although we didn't get any of the entertainment aspect, I wasn't expecting much of that based on the kids) but no one would know from the pictures!

There was a thread called "Fun Facts about your City" on which I posted a photo of the Lethbridge Viaduct which is a very impressive high-level bridge. I'm hoping to see the Holiday Train cross it this year. This photo is from a recent visit and makes it looks like Santa is taking the train right up into the sky.

In other news, I saw on MSN "Tragedy strikes the Queen's family". I thought of the boys. Maybe a grandchild. Could have been a second cousin , who knows...but, being the daughter of someone who liked to listen to the queen's christmas message, i clicked on the link.

Like me, you live in the East. To much of Canada anything east of Montreal is easily forgotten. So a train that brings good cheer to most of Canada and the US doesn't come anywhere near us.
Oh well, we havee a history of making our own fun - and being charitable to our neighbour.
