Room For All

Welcome to Wondercafe2!

Um, actually, other than still having the Operations Manager posting still up (and, to be fair, the position was just filled) it's actually fairly up to date. Have you checked it recently?

Home Page - Five Oaks Education and Retreat Centre

Indeed I have. We could begin looking at the site here: Who-We-Are - Five Oaks Education and Retreat Centre

Which reads in part, "Who We Are As an affiliate of The United Church of Canada, Five Oaks celebrates its presence as a Christian Retreat Centre with an all-embracing spirit where everyone is welcome."

Then there's also the promotional video to consider...

...which is linked to from the same webpage.

Jae, this is the 2nd time you are trolling me in this thread in the last couple of days.

If you wish to harass, kindly take it elsewhere

Neither trolling nor harassing Pinga. Indeed, I even took time out of my valuable day to create a graphic for you. I would have thought you'd have been appreciative. Guess some people never change.

As Mendalla has noted further discussion about Five Oaks, its website, programs, etc. should probably be placed in the existing thread on Five Oaks.

Post 9151 by Jae is an unnecessary personal comment about Pinga which implies that she is unwilling to listen.

That is not in keeping with either the spirit or intent of Room For All. From the opening post which started the thread off:

- "...hope was that it would be a safe space to share life's joys, challenges, celebrations, concerns, and the everyday bits of our lives that make us who we are."

- "...hope is that it will continue it's legacy of caring and sharing here on the new Wondercafe2. "

- "This is a busy union station of people coming and going. Let's make sure that everyone is recognized and that their needs are met. If they are happy, let's share in their joy. If they are sad, let's offer them an ear, a hug and a caring heart. If they are lost, let's offer them hope that they'll find their way and perhaps some guidance. If they are hungry, let's feed them. There is room for all."

Please continue to post in this spirit.

Just a reminder that Wonder Cafe 2 now has a "Thread Ban" so that users can be banned from posting in a particular thread. We would all prefer not to have to use that tool. So please remember the purpose of this room and post accordingly.

I will not be entering into discussion on this request.

What I did in Post 9151 was to ask a question. The kind of question that if posed by just about anyone else here at Wondercafe2 would have been taken as the humor that it was. Why come down on me for the post Steven, when you would have excused it if it had been made by so many others.

Still waiting for the Council to say anything or actually do anything regarding all the vile comments that have been made about me and to me. Why have the posters who have spoken ill of me not been taken to task Steven.

The Council I feel has a desire to no longer have me as a poster here at Wondercafe2. I believe that the Council is keeping an improper double standard.

And ... back to the spirit of the room. It's very hot here today ... love summer!! We took the train downtown to see the Georgia O'Keefe exhibit today - very interesting. I found it interesting to learn more about her life & art - I had known her mainly for her florals & abstracts of the southwest. One of my favourites was actually an abstract from a visit she made to the Gaspe - she said she might have moved to Canada if it wasn't so darn cold! Then we had lunch at the gallery, which is part of Summerlicious celebrations in July - so a great three course meal was ours to enjoy for a fixed price.

I'm tidying and thinking through my packing for my quick trip out west. I'm just taking a carry-on bag ... so that's good - and cheaper! I purchased a new carry-on the other night, one that is about half the weight of the older one I currently have, and it is a little smaller too. I think airlines are getting stickier about size these days. Excited to see my family soon.

Hey Carolla

Another advantage is that if your flight is delayed or cancelled, you can quickly move to another airplane / airline.
Yes, airlines are getting stricter.

I can now often fly with just a backpack which holds my laptops and enough clothes for 3 cdays of changes.

When we went to Italy for 3 weeks some years ago, we only each took a carry-on size bag. We checked them on the aircraft (it was free then!) but want to pack lightly since we would have a number of train trips & need to carry bags on cobblestone streets, over bridges etc. It was a wise decision! But luggage has improved since then, so a lighter, and slightly smaller model will, I hope, enable to manage lifting it into the overhead storage myself without bonking anybody else!

I dont' have any restricted items that can't be carried.
I either use hotel products for the few days that I am there, or pack my small refillable bottles, or buy there.
Here is a page from Air Canada Carry On Baggage

Note: for friends who frequently fly, they often leave a bag at the hotel. I don't bother -- don't need that many products or hair styling items.
Again, for me it is about ease of travel

I guess it's one of the drawbacks of skin conditions/sensitive skin/scent issues.
I've also had some of my liquids/gels that shouldn't count to the total be counted, so I don't try to push the issue by adding in non-medical liquids and gels.

I love the way Carolla re-directs. You are appreciated.
My mom and I went on a one-day Sunshine Bus Tour to Petoskey, Michigan, yesterday, which included an evening trip to Boyne Highlands for dinner theater with the Young Americans. If anyone gets a chance to watch these amazing young people in action, please take it. They serve the dinner, they interact, they entertain before dinner, and then they put on the most amazing musical/dance show ever. Then they come down to talk to us individually again. I told several of them: Thanks for sharing your talents! And they seemed humbled by the gratitude. Lovely.

Enjoying a week in Muskoka. Beautiful weather, biking, canoeing and time with the kids. Two sets of friends are coming tomorrow for the weekend. They are bringing booze (yay). And food (yay). And their kids (boo). Nobody is driving anywhere tomorrow night. Nobody on the water. Just a deck. Engineers, science and real estate types gettin cray cray in cottage country.

Sounds like you need a babysitter!
