haha, important to have realistic goals.

I have got some gardenng done this morning, not finished, but, good to have done some. With all the items going on I recognize that I have slipped back into some not good habits. Glad for the summer coming..

I did mow the front lawn for the first time this season, battery is charging before I finish the back.. Ready to trim the last 3 tablecloths I am making for sister's June wedding. Now off to local farmers market.

My mower is still gas. One tank gets a couple passes done. May go electric for the next one but this one is still fairly new. I don't do the mowing, though. That's Little M's job.

I am off to Germany for three and a half weeks, leaving in two hours. It will be quiet at my mothers- it takes her half the morning to get ready for the day, then we drive to the shopping area ( she with her electric wheelchair and. i by bike) , get groceries and prepare a meal, then she has a nap for two hours, hang out with my sister for a bit and watch tv in the evening.
I will get her flowers for her balcony and we might go on an outing with my sister to the surroundings of Berlin.
She has been increasingly frail, can t use the computer anymore and needs a lot of rest in between activities.
The last week I Will be at my friends and on my birthday and visit the German quilting conference, to which I am looking forward to. This years project with her ( she teaches quilting) - we will be sewing bowls.

I have a new goal - to get this g-d jigsaw puzzle done by Christmas. I consider myself fairly good at puzzles and I am stubborn. I can't remember ever giving up on one.
But this - Planet Earth, Mount Everest - 1000 pieces - all exposed rock and windswept snow, no lines, no colours except shades of white, blue and black, no points of interest (ie people, trees, sunrise or sunset, eagle, flags) nothing but rock and snow. And all the pieces are the same shape (with two nubbins and two interlocking indents - what I call traditional puzzle pieces) with slight variations, and the same size again with slight variations. And occasionally a piece will fit in the wrong place - I use a magnifine glass to check when in doubt. Each piece I put in is a minor celebration.

Seelerman laughs at my frustration - but will he help me? NO!

Anyone else tried one of these tea steepers yet? Kind of a cool gadget for those of us using looseleaf. This is mine and it's from David's ($20) but my local tea shop, Tea Haus, sells one as well though the brand they sell is more $$. You put the looseleaf inside, add boiling water, steep for however long you prefer, then you sit it on top of your cup and a valve opens to let the tea out while using a filter to trap the leaves inside. Rinse clear and the filter is removable so you can rinse it separately if needed. Definitely easier to clean, and a bit more portable, than a pot and my experience with balls and baskets has been that they can be a bit of a pain to keep clean as well. It makes about 16 oz. so 1-2 cups depending on the size of the cup and how full you make each cup (ie. if you leave room for milk)

Love 'em, although don't currently have one. Gave away my first one, broke the second one. Great for just about any sort of tea, the wyrd exception being herbal teas with chaste tree berry in them; the little berries get wedged in the corners...

Don't have any herbals right now, just blacks and greens. Need to get something caffeine-free for evening drinking, though. David's has one I like called ginger beer (yes, it tastes like Old Jamaican) as well as some nice rooibos blends.

Had one at work, and just found that I didn't clean it properly and it got rusted.
It was good though.

Rusted? There isn't metal in this one that I can find. Maybe a spring somewhere, but it seems to all be BPA-free plastic with a rubber seal as the valve.

i woke up at 5am with a headache. Turned out youngest son woke up and got up at 4:30am, so we may have heard the same noise outside, or I may have heard his movement in the house.
Think it will be a long day.

Ah yes - my dtr has one of those tea steepers - I hadn't seen one before & was surprised to see her pour hot water into it while it sat on the counter, not over a cup! But it does seems to work really well. If I recall correctly, she also used it at times to make coffee.

Safe travels @Mrs.Anteater - I imagine such visits are a little bittersweet - at least this is how I feel when visiting my own elderly Dad. Each time I leave, I wonder if I will see him again.

I have one of those. Clear mugs are the best with it so you can fill it up to the perfect spot.
I think I prefer my mug with a basket, but that's my second favourite and great to have when the mug is in the dishwasher.
