Room For All

I thought you suggested a while back that a WC2 member 'should' do the go forth and multiply thing because it was god's will. Doesn't apply to you maybe ?

(Found these words in pale print at the bottom of the page. Decided to post them.)

What I actually shared Kay was my belief that we each have the God-given responsibility to go forth and multiply to the best of our ability.

Well - getting back to the personal & supportive tone of this room ... here's what I'm going to go do with my euchre group on Friday! It's our 'year end' gathering - so we always do something different - and this IS different! Should be a hoot. Anybody played it?

So.....it's Tuesday and I decided to be totally lazy tonight.

I will surely pay for it, but, nice to do nothing but watch a hockey game, put away clothes, and do a jigsaw puzzle.

ps. also loving popping out to the garden daily to see what has popped up.

My Tuesday group had a wonderful presentation by one of our couples: Joanna Macy and "The Great Turning". Tons of really meat-y, interesting discussion.

It being Tuesday, I attended my church's regular weekly prayer meeting. Lots of good Bible study goes along with that. Beforehand a friend and I dropped by a local cafe for hot beverages and chat.

Looks like fun, but I don't think my soccer skills would be up for that!

I doubt any of us in our group has much in the way of soccer skills - but we're all really good at laughing and trying new stuff! That said, we did reserve the VIP room - away from the main crowd, lest we get too disruptive! Or uncoordinated!!

Sounds like so much fun Carolla.

I've been busy helping out at my grandson's school this week. Besides doing the breakfast program 2 or 3 days each week, this week I helped at the Book Fair. I had helped at my former school's book fair a couple of times already this year. Well....this one was much different! For four solid hours each day, students were in looking and buying. Much is sadly overpriced and there are lots of junky things that seem to catch the eyes of children. But I couldn't believe the money they were coming with! My grandson bought one book, some junky things, and I bought him one book. I also witnessed a little bullying that caught me off-guard. This is a Catholic school, that makes much of morning prayer. But there is a lot of 'keeping up with the Jones' attitude as well, and an undercurrent of 'I'm better than you because I have more stuff, and I wear better clothes'. I see my grandson beginning to try to keep up. Gulp. It hurts to see these growing pains.

Gosh Nancy - perhaps this issue deserve a thread of its own - discussing the issues you brought up here and education in general (perhaps including charter schools - did you see the closing bit on this subject on CBC the National last evening.)

Feeling tired tonight. I am learning to live in my Dad's reality but I find it exhausting at times. @crazyheart , i do not know how you did it.

We have had some wonderful things going on with the retreat center team, and I am really thankful for those folks that I volunteer with.
I have also had some successes with work (paid), and that feels better. Things were tense through March / April.
I also had another checkup and came back with a clean bill, though, checking out why I have a cough. Those appointment days are always a bit tiring , or the days leading up to them are.

So, sitting back, relaxing. reading wondercafe2 and watching hockey.

Drove one of my hockey billets 10 k for a sleepover but changed into my running shoes first and did a lovely hike above the canyons and very nosiy creek. I did wish my hiking poles were in the car but I was careful and my (still) sore ankle did ok. I hiked for about an hour but need to go back with friends. Passed a herd of bighorns-rather they startled and came running across my path 2x. And the thunder and rain held off for the hike. Great way to start the weekend.

Chemguy had today off. Spent the day out in the garden. He accomplished tons. I feel like I barely did anything. I spent a ton of time/energy on some mint plants in pots from last year that may be dead. I did the same at the start of the season last year though and they all returned so we will see. Winter was colder this year. Every year I plan to take cuttings to bring in for the winter but end up too busy with all the stuff to harvest. I need to remember to grab some cuttings before I have to deal with a bunch of tomatoes!

Got peas planted. Thought about planting carrots haha, might get to them this weekend.

Our shed is now cleaned out. We knew mice got into the shed over the winter but didn't realize how much stuff they chewed through. The shed became inaccessible because of my allergies. They chewed a hole in floor and into the potting soil as well as the lawnmower bag. I figured they could get into the shed (by squeezing - not chewing!) but didn't think they would chew to get into bags of potting soil. Chemguy kindly took everything out, swept and hosed it down for me.

It was hot, high around 28. I'm worn out, but am feeling too hot to sleep comfortably. It's still about 20. Looking forward to a nice weekend - warn but not hot.

Most of the news today is about the flood (or the likelihood of more flooding).
The most recent big flood in this area was in 2008. This one is creeping up - not just over the green area (parks, hiking trails, kid's ball diamond, soccer fields) by the river but also over ramps to the bridges and some streets. Lots of basements flooded. Something wrong up our street - Seelerman might walk up to talk to the workers or observe - probably a blocked drain.
We live on a hill - no danger of flooding from the river. Seelergirl is also well back from the river. The flood of 2008 came within a block of the church, but didn't reach it and we carried on with scheduled events.

We're square dancing this weekend - our annual festival before cutting back for the summer.

while the creek I live on is high the other creek in town is flooding-and the water pipe under it broke. So I am currently boiling drinking water.
