Sitting in San Diego after a lovely walk down the harbour after lunch, then, came back to the San Diego Gay Men's Chorus show "Broadway", then an Italian dinner.

Now trying to get myself onto a different flight home.
There was a lot of drama due to my not having wireless on the flight here, and being unavailable for work.
I need to do better job of negotiating the contract and sticking to it. I signed up to be a consultant, but, they didn't have a role they needed and I stpped in. Now I am working harder & longer than I wanted to. Paid well, but, life is not about money.

Ah well, I will know better for next time.

wow Pinga. Lots of drama because you were unavailable due to being on a flight. I wonder if sometimes people (companies) get so used to instant access to folks that a kind of panic sets in. It's part of this being available 24/7 and certainly can burn out people.

I absolutely object to anyone thinking I am available to them (and I mean personally as well) 24/7. I have well established and well known, working, sleeping, waking, hours. Anyone who contacts me in an inappropriate period had better establish their emergency need quickly.

The Nyx of night is meant for an escape from here ... although some fear going to sleep as the other side could get eM ... the Shadow?

Some of us can aspire in pure Dais light ... many others just don't understand due to excess ire ration ability ... like Cane vs the able crew ...

Well I've decided to go to friends funeral even though it is on Friday at 2pm. I booked flights and now have to talk to work tomorrow. I have used up all my personal leave so we will see what happens. I get generous holidays-they are just when there is no school.

I hope work is understanding!

Just trying to catch up. Condolences Tabitha. Chansen....Sometimes I totally understand why you aren't a church person. You've certainly heard about some of the worst. Pinga, it was probably good for you to be unconnected for awhile; sorry you have to make up for it now.

My news is that the cottage that was supposed to be willed to my sisters and me hit a big glitch, and the Southern Ontario step- cousins have decided to sell it. (long story). The tough thing is that it was part of a big family plot and we own the plot next to it. My uncle built the road and put up power lines to his property by using our property. Now, we are thinking of ways to be proactive so that future buyers know they don't really have a road, and the power line has to be moved. Ours is just shore property...no buildings. But we have a great picnic table. Life might not be all about money, but I sure wish I could afford to buy this cabin. Unfortunately, the land alone is valued out of my price range.

Sounds complicated Nancy, I hope you are able to get a simple solution for the land.

oh boo to the cottage glitch Nancy. Sometimes families can make things so complicated. We support a chunk of legal profession by such events! Hope you find a suitable resolution.

Families are like that complicated in their demand of simplicity and thus causing chaos ... some don't believe the stir ... a sort of outlandish crank as Jacked up from a depressed area as ordered by the corrupt powers ...

They say cottages (or other leisure properties) are one of the biggest problems in families dealing with estates. I ducked the bullet and turned down my share of the cottage. The property was already split two ways (my Dad and my aunt) and splitting it more made no sense to me and seemed likely to lead to some kind of disaster eventually. I don't use it much anymore anyhow. We prefer to travel rather than be tied down.

ah yes. I have heard of cottage fights.
How lovely that you do own shoreline Nancy. I'd suggest posting a large sign or 2 on your property. Or a locked gate and private road sign on your driveway.

work does treat me well. There was no issue with the day off-even though I said- I have used up all the category- no issue. I did say I'd give back a day of my paddle trip but that wasn't possible.

Are cottage fights like cottage industry related to war? Sounds like communal entanglement for those wishing to be free of responsibility ...

Yes, my husband and I happen to have a gate that we are bringing down soon. And we are putting up a private property sign. Also, we are sending a somewhat friendly letter to let them know (again) some of the issues, before it has to become a legal battle. We just need to protect our little piece of land from whatever they are going to be doing. And our property is in 5 names! So, it too will become a nightmare for whoever has to deal with it some day. I used to call this part of the world on St. Joe's Island 'a piece of heaven'. It's starting to feel like something different!

Nancy, I am sorry that you have to deal with this stuff.

I am home from my time n San Diego with my sister.
It was good to hang out together.

Good to share story and continue to build our story.

ps. what a simply beautiful morning today.
Thinking if the rain holds off, I may try to sit outside and work for a while today

The warm weather has hit. I spent yesterday at Presbytery in a little old wooden church in the country. I drizzly, rainy, foggy day. I guess the people who arrived early turned on the heat to chase away the chill (and smell of mold). By noon the outside temperature had climbed to 19 degrees and as the day wore on inside temp must have been over 25 with humidity like a steam bath. Many people still in winter weight clothes (it's been cold). Sweat dripping off. People getting up in the middle of the meeting to go outside to cool off.
Check back over my posts - have I ever said that I liked 'warm' weather. Tired of snow - maybe. Wish it wasn't raining - probably. But longing for hot weather - never.

Today it is still overcast, humid and some rain but it is a little cooler.
