I'll have a cup of coffee, a bun and a piece of cheese (for protein) and just curl up in a corner here on the recliner with an afgha and veg out for awhile.
I had my annual pre-Christmas 'at home' yesterday when I just let people I know drop in. The first guest arrived a little after 2:00 and the last four left near 10:00 pm. Icy outside after a few days of unsettled weather (with the temp changing from well below freezing to 110 above and then plunging to -15 or so again) kept some away, plus a busy time of year. But at one time I had nine people in my small living room (aboout as many as it will hold) representing different denominations (UCC, RC, Anglican, UU - my Baptist neighbours and my Presbyterian cousin had not arrived yet) discussing everything from the refugee families they are helping, to people they know in common, to Christmas preparations, to countries they have lived in or visited, to home made fruitcake recipies ... As the first to arrive got their coats to leave for other commitments, others arrived, until there was just one couple who sat down with us for a bowl of 9-bean soup and a roll. They were about to leave, after visiting Seelerman
s model train set-up in the basement, when my cousin and hubby arrived, so they sat down again and discovered that they had a lot in common (forestry, teaching, music) so they stayed through the evening. A wonderful time - and somehow my wine rack and my Christmas sweets containers are as full as when I started - and I'm sampling other's baking specials.
Seelerman had an early morning errand this morning. When he gets back he'll look after putting away the folding chairs and getting the living room in order. I'm running the dishwasher on the china setting for the second time.
