Oh yeah, some cabins are bad too. I didn't really specify a cabin though. Often I'll go out to a campsite for a day and then go back home where I can shower and stay fairly clean right after and sleep in a fairly clean/low pollen, insect, dander, feather environment.

The worst sleeping location I have been in was a teepee - we had a fire going in it before bedtime. I wasn't the only one with problems. I remember one of the guys actually had his parents called for poor behaviour/refusing to participate in events etc. It wasn't a behavioural problem, it was a health one when breathing is difficult etc. one often has difficulties doing much.

We're tenters. We have nothing against those with trailers, RVs, etc. but when we camp we like to rough it a bit more than those others. We have stayed once in KOA cabins which were nice.

Oh I like those little Boler trailers Kay! A colleague has been exploring them & introduced me to them. Recently we saw some R-Pods on the road - they looked like a good option, so I enjoyed cruising around the internet looking that them them too. Well, you know how one site leads to another ... soon a whole world of small lightweight trailers opened up!

Back in my Boy Scout days, I did both cabins and tents. Can't say I have a big preference, though the cabins were warmer and some of them had a kitchen of sorts. Mrs. M and I tented back when we were camping (camped out in Maine on our honeymoon, Algonquin for our 1st anniversary, probably one or two more that I'm forgetting) and I was cool with it back then.

There is wide range of tiny trailers to check out eh. Our preference is for the moulded fibreglass ones. We camped beside an RPOD recently and took a tour. It seems they don't hold up very well. They had leaks after a couple of years. Boler style trailers last for ages. There are lots of them still in good shape after 20 or 30 years. We have met people who have got an old one and completely renovated it inside and out. A great project for 'handy people'. Very old trailers are also quite cheap and hold their value well.

Oh dear - probably too much information!

Does anybody remember the old Apache pop up trailors? They could be folded down but all the sides were solid and they didn't use canvass. My sister had one and it felt more solid. They weren't fancy and they don't make them anymore but they're still out there for sale.

You can still buy new pop up trailors. They may not be Apache brand, but they're available.

While pinga's off camping, I'm heading out to the countryside tomorrow for a beautiful wedding celebration - the wedding is outdoors in a field & the reception is in a gorgeous old barn! Can't wait! It's been such a long time since I got dressed up for an event - looking forward to it! Weather is supposed to be just perfect too!

I do remember those! My family had an Emperor tent trailer - one of the originals I think. My mom refused to sleep on the ground - and so when my dad saw this trailer, manufactured not far from our home, he snapped one up. All canvas - not the fancy things you see today! After a good many years he upgraded & got a slightly larger one with a screen room on front - but still all canvas!

Yes - I meant that our Emperor was all canvas & very basic! We thought the ones like your picture were pure luxury!! In their later years, my grandparents got a 'crank up' version somewhat like this - turned out they loved camping too!

In Celtic traditions ... this is where wee bairnes start, some say this is initiation of brains!

You know this if you've ever done anything senseless in the loft! That's like hay ... up there!

Wow. Nice venue. My youngest brother had an outdoor wedding at the Westfield Heritage Village near Rockton, Ontario (off highway 8 west of Hamilton) and a friend did one at a place in Toronto. It's a nice way to do it and I would consider it if I had it all to do over again
