It is said that power hunger can do some strange things to people really in the race ... an assertive one gone off track?

Much indigenous deviation from grammar ...

Not fantastic news about the bf's mom this week. During her test last week the found a second lump closer to her underarm. Test confirmed both are cancerous. Both chemo and surgery are now expected but I don't know any more than that. She seems to be handling everything ok though I haven't talked to her directly myself. The bf is ok but not sure how to feel and not sure now to process. I will feel better when I know more info, I always feel better knowing as much info as I can. I have lost a lot of people in my life to cancer so it scares me a lot but I am hoping things are in early enough stages but again I don't really know.

Thinking of your friends and family, GreyWolf. Hopefully early stage, and praying that she has lots of family and friends to provide practical help - hands-on love. I've found oncology care in my part of the province very competent, very pragmatic, very helpful (it would nice to be closer to Princess Margaret for trials for later stage cancers). But it's a really nasty row to hoe, as you know.

This afternoon, while the heat is tolerable, I am making some of my walnut cheddar cheese scones. Goes with the strawberry rhubarb jam I got made during the last cool spell. Help yourselves. For virtual purposes, they're 'everything-free'... Experimenting with a strange tea flavour this aft - "Pink Lemonade Rooibos"; I think it's going to be very nice as an iced tea.

My niece has been up so had a lovely time with her and her friend. Today was a trip to elora

Long day today. Made a trip to see our parents. Went to a restaurant in the same hotel complex we got married in. It was good, was a bit concerned about stampede and where to go because of it. While some of the meeting rooms were booked with buffets in the halls, the restaurant was fairly empty.

Hugs to Greywolf and Bette. I'm taking a morning break from the Go Project as my daughter takes over the volunteer role for the morning. My arthritis needs a bit of a break! There are 15 kids involved, ages 6 to 12. They are a good group. But very, very busy. Feeling my age at the moment.

Thinking of folks who are transitioning in different ways -- may you be supported by excellent health care, and caring friends.

I'm, personally, enormously grumpy in the heat; have also been quite busy trying to cool off my friend's ground floor a bit, as she lives in another old hot house. And my work life is making me long for retirement, even if it is air conditioned. And the dogs think it's really too frigging hot and fight over patches of tiled floor, the kitchen being, theoretically, out of bounds.

And I've no baking done, because it's too frigging hot. Have used the bbq, eaten salads...And did I mention it's hot. Sure feels like climate change.

...loud enough for you?...sorry, Pinga, sometimes you shouldn't invite noise, lol.

On a much more serious note, thinking of PP in the loss of her Mom.

Me too, bettethered

**** setting up a gentle spot should pilgrims progress find her way here

Gentle thoughts to her

Oh dear - hadn't heard of Pilgrim's mom's death ... such tough times ...hopefully she will land her for gentle support. Thanks for sharing that.

Yes - it's definitely JULY in Ontario!! Hot Hazy Humid - and wow what a thunderstorm we had last night!! Even with the house all closed up, the thunder was so loud and the lightning seemed non-stop for a while!

We had an extra busy week last week. My dtr had knee surgery in mid June & is non weight bearing & off work for 6-8 weeks at least. So, I flew her home for a week, and it was a surprise for her brother that she was here when he returned from a six week vacation in France. The look on his face was priceless! They hadn't seen each other for about 2 years so it was just great for all of us to be together & able to share all the home-coming travel excitement, stories & photos! It was great to hear of our son's travels with his gf - really intriguing to see what caught their interest, what learning they did, what observations on life they offered ... OMG - they're adults!! LOL . It was a wonderful opportunity for them.

Sorry to hear about PP's loss. Carolla...what a wonderful chance for special family time! Glad it is working out for you.
We are having a family reunion for my Mom's Dad's side of the family on Thursday. I put together a picture board and it made me sad when I looked at all the pictures of my Mom as a kid and realized that she is the only one left...Her brother, sister and the cousins she played with are all gone. And Mom was the oldest of the lot. She has been asked to give a greeting and a short speech at the reunion, and she's quite nervous about it. She wanted my help but I assured her that when she does her typical kind, and from-the-heart talking, it will be perfect.
