My grandmother was Irish. She and her siblings likely had the biggest influence on me so I can claim Irish. I love Guinness, Kilkenny and Jamesons. :) Not to mention my redheaded Irish genes drive me in life.

A couple of people asked me why Ididn’t have anything green on me today. The only green thing in my closet are my pjs. Wasn’t pj day today. Awaiting the Paddy’s day storm on Friday with 15 cm snow. Apparently, its called “Sheila’s brush”- with Sheila being St. Paddy’s wife? ( according to the radio). My snowblower is still at the ready, waiting for it.

I have a proper Irish surname (there's actually a famous ancestor who was hung for leading a rebellion). My grandfather was an orphan of the famine, ended up in Liverpool. My Dad, despite his name, HATED the Irish. He always said "they'd be kings if it weren't for the drink". We certainly didn't celebrate it, or even mention it, as a family.

So, I've never really gotten into it. Also, not fond of drinking things that are an 'odd' colour. My beer should be a dark amber, my whiskey, single malt and a lighter amber, my wine red. Finally, don't really need an excuse to over-indulge. I can do that well enough without an odd holiday. Yeah, I was a party-pooper in bible study this morning, too.

Also, my truck is full (I mean front to back, seats down and everything) with the rest of his music. Problem is that a) I don't know where I'm going to put it and b) some pieces are too heavy for me to lift...

Pour the glass * this is going to be a whine

First the back story, the previous owners split the property into 3 properties, so they ended up turnign their one mailing address into 3. Their address was assigned to a new property on one side, then they got a new # for the house we ended up buying, and another new # for the property on the other side.

Canada Post seems fine, and we get mail without trouble at our mailbox.

When we moved in, and started to google map and give directions, we found that our house # would take people into the water down the road, or across the street. Very odd. Reported it, but, we got used to instructing folks to look at the house #'s at the road.

We've sold things on kijiji and had people map the address and end up in Hamilton, approx 40min away, as our address just doesn't show up in their maps.

Tonight, I was trying to buy a replacement remote control from the company that provides us satellite tv, and go figure, I can't. Why? their software is using some old database, and won't let me enter our mailing address. I can see the original house #, but, that belongs to our neighbour. Of course, the # has to match the number on your credit card, so can't even ship to our neighbour.

Sigh, crappy software drives me nuts!

Frustrating. Here I'm glad to be on a name street. The majority of Edmonton is in the NW (quadrant system got added in after streets were done, when things when under 1st St/1st Ave). Many people in my neighbourhood have their mail end up elsewhere if they lived on a numbered street. I don't understand why Canada Post doesn't use postal codes to avoid that.
Even real estate listings are wrong on realtor websites maps quite a bit - I figured they would be more on the ball.

Good morning, all! As we note the lag between new addresses and old databases, let us draw comfort from companionship and warm beverages around the coffeecart.

And sometimes looking through Eire -y Windows for heaven assumed to be on the other side ... as bull looking at the greens!

Expect scattered shades ... Os is an old expression for the power of bones ... which may appear to support the spine of the myth ... an Os eM story? In the bones ... the Mar Roes as something else in the human soup ... a cesspool? Self induced end ... some say it Saint Bonnie ... but Charlie is inclined to sparks ...

Oh so frustrating @Pinga! Happens even in urban dwelling - my friend had this issue too where google map was redirecting to a house at the end of the block, facing a different street! She finally did get it corrected - but it was challenging if I remember correctly. Good luck!

Yeah, we have had some fairly important mail put in the mailbox of someone on a neighbouring street with the same number (and we have received stuff for them, too). Even with the sorting by postal code at the stations, there still seems to be room for error by the carriers. A lot of our problems seemed to go away when they changed delivery schedules around here.

It seems to be a thing. If you google map our address it takes you who knows where. So now we tell people to google the golf course down the road

it seems to have something to do with dividing up rural properties. We recently called to get our property tax slip from MPAC which we didn’t seem to get, though we get tax bills. Low and behold our paperwork goes to some other address

but our rural road used to be a few large of farms and is now a collection of 25 acre lots so something got mixed up in the dividing

yesterday was my eldests birthday. As a kid he liked sort Patrick’s day, no it was an easy theme for his parties. As a young adult he hated it. Everyone heading out for a big drunken bash instead of celebrating with him. Now that he is 33 I think he is back to liking it

We bought the last lot on this street to build our house and Mapquest (which was the gold standard for map sites at the time) didn't seem to know we existed, but at least came close. Never had a problem with Google Maps but our area was pretty much "old" and not even the edge of city by the time it came along. Wonder how the people North of Fanshawe fared. That was still farmland when we built in 2000, now it is developed all the way to Sunningdale Road.

We have friends in Victoria who don't show up properly on Google. She gave us poor directions to compensate. There was a golf course there and it wasn't clear to us how to enter the golf course. We were taken to the parking lot of a farm market. Since we were not the first of their friends who'd had this experience and because they lived behind the market, they could rescue us and get us the last few metres to their home.

Seeler is sitting in a quiet corner of the room, scanning through the wonder Café and trying to catch up with everybody's virtual lives. She wishes that she had the time and energy to respond to her virtual friends, some of whom she has known longer than those in real life. Is it hard to summon the energy. The least little thing seems to tire her. She was out for a while today; a blood test at the hospital. These are becoming very routine.

Phone rings! It's the doctor's office. Can she be a available for a blood transfusion tomorrow morning?

Of course – at a 7:45. She will be there for the cross matching and the transfusion – the fourth in so many weeks.

I don't know what they're looking for but I hope that soon they will have a diagnosis and perhaps a treatment.

In the meantime, don't expect too many posts from me. But I'm still here and following along.

Sending hugs to you.

I'm having a quiet day knitting a sock for a friend. If all goes well the pair will be put in the mail soon. I had two relatively busy days in a row. Now enjoying a lazy, rejuvenating day.

Oh Seeler - I am so sorry your energy is waning this winter. Must be so challenging. I hope & pray diagnosis will soon be determined and it will be something reasonably treatable. Sending hugs.

Vibes going to @Seeler. Hope the medical folks get this sorted out sooner rather than later. Glad to hear you're still keeping an eye on the Cafe anyhow.
