Kids go thru phases too - as with anything, their active interest may wax and wane. But I do think (and it has been my experience) that people often return to what they have valued and learned in childhood. My dtr & husband are both voracious readers - and she now works blissfully in a small independent bookstore. I like to read, but I'm slow ... so I read fewer books, but still enjoy it as a past time.

I like baby showers where folk bring a book instead of a card. or a book shower where they bring

only books. A good start for a child's library.

Loved books when I was a kid. My mom used to take us kids to, "Storytime" which was a weekly program available at the libraries in Toronto. We'd gather with other kids in a round stepped room carpeted in red. Each week, the librarian would share great tales with us.

Also read a lot in school and public libraries, and my first job was as a page at the local TPL.

When it was gift-giving time in my extended family though, I was disappointed at first that none of my niblings appreciated books as their parents and I had.

Our world now is one of technology. Electronics now rule. In my experience, the era of books has gone.

I'm sure that you had used up all your spoons, and more, the way that your week is looking, seeler! I must see that movie...

I had an enjoyable afternoon helping a friend with her resume and cover letter. She actually didn’t really need help, just someone for a feedback. Still took us three hours to finalize it. I hope she will get the job, she is getting bullied in the position she is in right now. However, my daughter in common law will also apply for this job. So hopefully, one of them will be successful.

Thinking of the family who little one was pulled from his mother's arms during the flooding of the Grand River earlier this spring.
His body was found today.

Oh, sad, Pinga. I had wondered when that might happen. At least now the family can bury the poor wee thing. Imagine how tortured that poor mom is.

Indeed. I've been following that via updates on my phone from various news sources. After hearing about so many incidents like this in Europe, it's tough finally having it happen close to home. Thoughts, vibes, and good wishes to those affected.

Very sad in Toronto, and in Timmins. It always seems strange to have such tragic, sad news when it is so nice outside that you want to smile all the time. I guess the crazy continues no matter the weather. My son is heading to Toronto tomorrow...

I should be asleep. I had been working on a document for a meeting tomorrow. Got pulled into something else and lost a couple of hours, but more importantly , lost my momentum. Got back to it around dinner, but, ended up gettin gthe inspiration back at midnight when I arrived in Toronto. Wrapped up at 2am. Morning will come early tomorrow. Luckily my commute is short. Thankful for some laughter in the song and bands from the bible thread. so clever.

Looking forward to this weekend. Volunteering at five of. I understand there will be 30 or so volunteering, which is awesome. I fell this morning and anticipate I might be sore, so will be doing more office stuff than physical stuff, but that is ok

What caused the fall? Hopefully no damage from that and you have a great weekend!

Haha, turns out @PilgrimsProgress and I have similar habits.

I was deep in thought , taking a shortcut due to rain and missed uneven pavement. I was carrying a backpack with 4 laptops over my shoulder (bad, bad) . My ankle went over, the backpack slipped, and I went down hard , phone in hand. Nothing that won't heal.

Bit sore and stiff today. Good cut on hand. Goose egg on ankle. Tylenol helped
