Mendalla, glad to hear it went well! It's sad that the more liberal churches aren't doing so well - says the one who rarely goes to church.

I think I'm back to normal. I had some really minor throat stuff after the ER visit, but just wanted a break from it all so only 'treated' it with some soothing, non-irritating cough candies and cold drinks while watching to make sure it was going to stay really minor. Almost went for a walk Sat evening but my energy was still low. Did my usual IV last night and was back to the exercise program today. I felt really good while there and I'm hoping I didn't push too hard, there was only one thing where it was probably above the limit I should stick to. Hopefully a few minutes of going a bit overboard won't cause a trigger! When I say too much, I do just mean considering what I'm doing with, I used to do entire classes where I felt I was pushing that hard, if not harder and was fine besides some normal muscle soreness the next day. I realize now that even some of that wasn't completely normal!

Great to hear inspiration arrived when needed Mendalla!

Pinga - thanks for the movie tip - I will def look into that one! I just started reading a book by an author you recommended a while ago - "The Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss. I think it is the 'prequel' to "The Wise Man's Fear" which you spoke of so highly. I'm loving the language this writer uses.

Good to hear you're mending well ChemGal.

Frustrating Mendalla when you put in effort and the turnout is less than you hoped.

@ChemGal, glad you are doing better. Been a journey of ups/downs. Sorry that it has been a tough time lately, but good to hear you are back on the exercise wheel again.

@Carolla, he takes forever to write his novels due to the energy he spends in crafting his sentences/pagraphs/chapters/stories. I read a blog post of his, as he deconstructed how he picked the words and sentence structures to describe an interaction between his wife & child. It was brilliant...

I sometimes re-read the paragraphs just for the beauty of the storytelling. He is an artist on so many levels.

Funny, I've heard Rothfuss discussed elsewhere and assumed he had a lot out. In fact, he's written two books of a trilogy and that's it. I may just give him a shot. I've been flailing about for some fantasy to read that isn't an endless, interminable series (not mentioning any names).

EDIT: And London Public has both books available through Overdrive ebook lending. (y)

I feel like we often end up on the same wavelength book-wise. We both recently finished with The Goldfinch and The Name of the Wind is next on my list (once I get through the three that I have on the go).

Mendalla, he has a small book coming out about one of the characters in the trilogy. I am looking forward to it as the character Auri is featured in it "The Slow Regard of Silent Things"

I am reading Lars Kepler's "The Sandman" this week. Read most of it at the airport and on the plane, and will finish it during the week. If you like a good mystery/thriller...it's quite fine.

I love a well written book, with a wide vocabulary, good grammar, variety in pace and in paragraph length, and a well-constructed story. Unfortunately, the book I'm reading now by a popular author isn't one. How could it be? She turns out a couple of full-length novels a year.
Give me a book that the author has worked on.

Yeah, I noticed reading his wiki that he's done a few of those "spin off" novellas and short stories. Martin's been doing the same thing for A Song of Ice and Fire (aka A Game of Thrones).

My reference to interminable series was, of course, to A Song of Ice and Fire. I read and liked the first novel (A Game of Thrones) but I'm finding it hard to commit to a series of 700+ page novels where there is no clear idea of when it will be finished. It also refers to The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan ,which went on so long that he died with it unfinished (Brandon Sanderson was commissioned by the estate to finish it, which he has done).

Seeler enters the room, excited.
"Hi, everyone! Have you heard the news! They've found one of Franklin's ships under eleven meters of water off the west coast of King William Island! Harper announced it today.
Now, you know me; I'm no far of Harper. In fact the man frightens me. He shut down a good many scientific research projects that weren't producing the results he wanted. But this one was his baby - he wanted this one to succeed - and it did!
And I'm a history bluff! I love history. As far back as I can remember I've been fascinated by the stories of the exploration of this country - and especially the search for the northwest passage. Then, if must be about four years ago I began to research and write a novel about a boy serving on Franklin's ships. Researched, written, proof-read and revised with the help of members of my Writers' Group. Sent it out with high hopes to publishing companies - but this is not a good time for the book publishing industry. So now, this summer I've been preparing to have it self-published. It should be available both in book and e-reader format in a month or so. It's to be called "Ship's Boy in the Arctic - Survivor".
I'm so excited. This find has confirmed much of what I included in my book - with the disclaimer that except for bits and pieces of evidence and stories of the Inuit, no one knows the exact fate of the expedition. And the ship was found in the general vacinity I expected it to be.
I'm excited about it."

Seeler, glad to see you have a fun story to follow!
I went to the Tai Chi open house today. The church felt like a further drive than what I was expecting - still got there on time.
There's a reason I carry my meds everywhere with me. Going into a corner in a room full of people I met for the first time and starting an IV still isn't a great feeling. I was also unprepared, not fully hydrated and somehow I missed stocking my large syringes after all the attacks last week. It didn't matter though, I lost the vein near the end of the first half of my dose. I tried again for the second half, gave up and came home.

Chemguy was concerned-upset. Once we got the 2nd half in he semi-yelled if I really needed to do it there or not and why I just didn't come home. I did not want to risk that after getting very concerned when I was driving and was only halfway to the hospital last week. I know he just felt really bad I had to do it with a bunch of strangers around.

Now I feel better, Chemguy gave me a big hug and my bag is fully stocked again.

Seeler, I instantly thought of you when I heard of the find. Wh oknows , your book might become an instant hit, with the find.
Good luck. You might want to consider contacting the publisherss and resubmitting!

Seeler, that is fantastic. I was following the Franklin news yesterday, too, though I'm not the expert you are. I just love these kinds of historical mysteries and often regret not pursuing graduate work with some kind of focus on archaeology.

How exciting Seeler!!! On so many levels!! Crossing my fingers. Just a thought - might it be helpful to revise your title to indicate the Boy is on Franklin's ship? Make it more obvious to potential readers, teachers, librarians etc. ?

Ugh, I had a rough day emotionally due to the way my appointments for my wisdom teeth are being handled, so I cancelled my surgery date. No more rushing! Feeling much better, I'm really hoping the extra dose I had last night will hold for me, I'm pretty sure if I hadn't had it this stress would cause an attack.

that;s too bad, chemgal. hope you are able to figure out a way to make it happen.

I'm tired and not in a good mood tonight. I know it. Too many hours of attempting to schmooze. Was at a department picnic. I realized I was sitting with a different team, and was the only one bothering to do so. At one point, two of the guys took me aside and said "why aren't you in our team". hard to answer other than it is important to have diversity in an org. I drank water, most of that team drank water, my team drank beer...lots of beer. Then went out drinking afterwards. Sometimes, it is exhausting to work on relationships.

wish i was home.
